"FAs were polite and efficient"
26 reviews Ronny Adriansyah (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Last leg of return trip from SE Asia with Hubby. UA1536, LAX-IAH used a 753 on 05/10, leaving at around 1am local time, just a few minutes behind schedule. Boarding was done by zone and very orderly. Even though it was a full flight, thankfully not that many people were carrying multiple bags that will have to be checked in if there is no room in the overhead bins and might cause delay to the departure. The FAs were polite and efficient but they were not as personable and communicative as the ones we just met in our flights throughout Asia. They made one drink round and offered pretzels with the drinks, and then they were back to collect the trash. Very different experience in this 2.5 hours flight with this so-called full-service airline, compared to another 2.5 hours flight in Asia with another, real, full-service airline which served hot food and alcoholic drinks for free. Overall the flight was uneventful, and we land in IAH around 10 minutes early.

"attendants are quite nice and cheerful"
26 reviews Ronny Adriansyah (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | First leg of a SE Asia trip with Hubby, IAH-LAX on 04/26, UA 1611 at 6:30 PM. Boarding was quite organized, the plane left on time, there were no entertainment but for a short flight this is fine. The flight attendants are quite nice and cheerful, they even made a second round of drinks during the flight.

"Constant delays, terrible seats"
H Beale (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | I would seriously suggest you pick a different airline. Not much of an improvement from spirit or frontier. Constant delays, terrible seats, old outdated planes, and not the nicest employees through the gate till the end. Look at other options

"customer service is terrible"

"purposeful inconveniencing of passengers"
Ebony Gaines (United States)
✅ Trip Verified |
My husband and I boarded Group 4 today on flight UA1927. In the middle of boarding Group 3, the gate staff started telling people that the overhead bins were full and that we had to check our bags and pick them up at the gate. I could see the frustration on the faces of many ahead of us as they asked questions and were told that checking their bags was mandatory. And this was, of course, an inconvenience to my husband and me as we had a tight deadline once our flight landed to get our rental car and head to a business meeting. However, we were patient and complied. As we walked down the hallway to drop off our carryons, a fellow passenger came out of the plane and asked the worker for his bag back because he was told by a flight attendant that there was space in the overhead bins for his bag. Puzzled, we continued to drop off our bags and board the plane. Long story short, we boarded the plane to find an abundance of space in the overhead bins, which showed that we were essentially lied to by flight staff. For what reason I have no clue. Maybe to inconvenience passengers in the hope that next time they will upgrade their ticket? It couldn't be because of weight because the bags go to the bottom of the plane when being checked. Whatever the reason, my husband and I were incredibly inconvenienced. Once we landed and walked to baggage claim, we waited 30 minutes for our bags to arrive. Thirty minutes that we did not have and could have been saved if we were not lied to and were allowed to place our carryons in two of the abundance of spaces available on the plane. This kind of treatment and purposeful inconveniencing of passengers is unacceptable.

"delayed again and again"
S Grimm (United States)
Not Verified | Horrible airline. My 10:40AM flight was delayed "10 or 20 minutes" for a "minor mechanical issue". Two hours later, we were told that they were flying in a new plane rather than fixing hours. Then the second plane was delayed for *another* mechanical issue. It was delayed again and again and has been pushed back to 6:45PM, and even the ticketing agents are saying that they doubt it'll show up anytime today.

"it was pure chaos"
M Lyons (United States)
Not Verified | United Airlines is extremely unprofessional and a waste of time. I enjoyed the flight attendants however the workers at the airport ruined my vacation experience. No one speaks English, they're extremely unprofessional and the flight was delayed for 9 hours at the last minute. There's absolutely no structure with the check in process and it was pure chaos. I will never use this airline again in a million lifetimes.

"First class is not worth it"
C Malten (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | I have to say spending all the extra money to fly First class is not worth it. No drinks while boarding, not even water. You spend the money for upgraded service and it's not better than coach! Very disappointed in united. Looks like delta for me. At least I get treated like I spent an extra 500 for first class.

"told that there could be no compensation"
P Sherman (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | To place this review in perspective, we arrived safely. UA had a mechanical delay with the plane that forced us to arrive 4 hours later than planned. Traveling with children, we arrived at approximately 2 am to our destination (2 hrs from our final house-destination). Due to our late arrival, our rental car company (newark airport) was closed. Told we could not sleep in the airport, we found the cheapest newark hotel we could ($155), arriving about 3am. The next morning, we returned to the car rental to a 2-hour line. By the time we were served, they had only one car left (the lot was empty) with pax behind us; I guess, out of luck. The only rental option was an upgrade (for the week rental) that would eventually cost us about $180 additional to the pre-arranged economy car fare we had booked weeks in advance. I talked them down to $190 or it would have been more. All told, we incurred about $350 in expenses, some of which we requested refunded by UA. Now, five months later, I am still trying to get the compensation (any compensation). Had this been a weather-related or similar issue, I'd accept the loss. But it was mechanical (the Pilot and the support staff at the gate had both announced to the cabin the reasons for the delay). Eventually, they promised $200 citing that as their maximum. Then I was told that there could be no compensation for us since we incurred the expenses at our point of arrival (destination) .. which is bizarre since that would often be (almost always) the site of incurring expenses for a delayed flight, especially because our destination was not our home. I do not fault the airline and I am happy that they fixed the plane before flying but one should not have to work so hard over five months to get partial compensation.

"United has failed miserably"
Frank Munroe (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | United has failed miserably at trying to be more efficient. I booked a flight for 2.30pm out of New Orleans to Louisville with a layover in Houston. My original flight was delayed for a total of an hour. Told twice it was only 20 more min. Due to a "technical" issue. Then when we finally took off, we landed as the connecting flight was leaving. We landed at 4.30 and was told the next available was 8.10. It is now 9.10 pm as I type this. Delayed 2 more times on the 8.10 flight...due to "Technical" issues then told to deplane and the next flight is 10.30 if they can find a plane. I knew I should have booked Southwest, but trying to save a few bucks and got this. United is terrible....I also have flight credit, I have tried to use 10 times and am told it's not valid for those dates...10 different dates and all are not valid? United will no longer get my business and you should avoid them as well.
