"Not helpful at all"

Trip Verified | Flew New Orleans to David-Panama. On the website it said I could check in 2 bags. At the airport they said I could only check 1 bag. When I ask why they were rude, not wanting to help at all. They were unable to explain why, they start yelling and keep being rude. I will never fly with them again. I asked for a wheelchair because of a knee problem and they took forever to get somebody, I had to ask 4 times. They were rude again and told me I could start walking or wait until they had time to call the wheelchair person. If I paid for a service they should provide the service, not have a bad attitude with their clients. Not helpful at all. I wont fly with United Airlines again.

"nice, friendly and helpful"

Trip Verified | Raleigh Durham to Chicago. United Economy Plus has a significant advantage in its legroom comparing to regular United Economy seats. A dedicated overhead compartment was provided for Economy Plus passengers, meaning I did not have to fight over someone for a space in order to accommodate my carry-on baggage. The seats were narrow, and were poorly padded. Only non-alcoholic drinks were provided free of charge, when alcoholic drinks and snacks were available for purchase. I have attempted to use the inflight entertainment, which did not work since it could not read any credit card in my wallet. I bought the inflight Wi-Fi. It did work and managed to provide a decent speed (fast enough for internet browsing and photo sharing apps). The cabin crew on my flight were nice, friendly and helpful. Overall, United Economy is a acceptable product for flights that are 4 hours or under. However if I am flying intercontinental, I would consider flying another carrier, since the same seat product is applied to all planes in UA's fleet.

"A complete disaster"

Trip Verified | A complete disaster. First leg (Toronto to O'Hare) on Saturday had a lavatory problem - so we pushed back (got that on time departure) only to sit for a while and then return to the gate. But since it was an int'l flight we were not allowed off the plane and the CSR refused to get on the plane. Eventually left 99 minutes late even though FAA's MFR rules do not require a working lav. On return flight first leg (Omaha to Chicago) Sunday we arrived early but there our gate was occupied so we sat for an hour, even though you could see multiple empty gates at terminal. Connection flight was very tight and when we ran to the new gate we found it had left 10 minutes early. So much for that thing known as customer service. I am a frequent flyer (about 100 legs a year) and a Star Alliance Gold Member, but this is the last straw (United has messed me over before). American, Southwest, anyone but United when US travel is required. If there was a zero rating - that's what I would pick.

"ground crew was beyond rude"

Trip Verified | Memphis to Chicago. I have never given a bad review to anyone but the ground crew at this airline was beyond rude yesterday. Flying with one additional adult and two children (two and four years) and they expect that the kids can sit by themselves! The seats numbers were 7, 9, 10 and 20! Not only did they not help with the seating they were passing rude comments throughout "Ma'am you're making this more complicated than it already is." "Didn't you hear, I just made the announcement". I heard "no" at least 10 times in 10 minutes. The lady was not only curt to me she responded very impolitely to the other passenger just requesting a seat. I am not flying United again if I can avoid it.

"the staff were friendly"

Trip Verified | Flew from Edinburgh to Newark. Read a lot of reviews before booking about the demise of this once great airline company but in my opinion this is much exaggerated. The plane was clean, the staff were friendly and were happy to serve you whatever you wanted. It’s fine. Book with confidence for this route at least!

"waiting and waiting and waiting"

Trip Verified | Absolute worst airline I've ever flown with. I had a bad experience with them in the past, but this was the only flight returning to Seattle from Fresno that I could find. Both flights (my flight to SFO, and the connecting flight from SFO to SEA) were delayed at least an hour, if not more. In SFO we were supposed to leave at 8.40pm, but were delayed. However, we still boarded even more passengers, and were told we would be taking off at 9.10pm. But, because we continued boarding we didn't leave the ground until after 9.30pm. No explanation was made by the captain or the flight crew, but there we sat, waiting and waiting and waiting. The flight was hot and stuffy. I also was incredibly annoyed with the baggage policy. When I booked my flight, there was no communication that I couldn't bring a carry on bag. As this was a very short trip, I brought just a carry on and my personal item. But when I checked in, I was informed I couldn't have one and needed to have it checked, for an additional $25, and that I couldn't even check it at the gate. I've never in my life, been told this before. I literally had to rethink everything I packed and how I packed it, as I had a layover and needed to do homework. When I got to the United booth at FAT to drop off my now checked bag, there was no one there, and the other customer and I waited ten minutes for them to return, again with no explanations. The kicker was when I got to the gate and everyone who had a carry-on bags was given a tag (no additional charge) for their tagged bag! Coupled with so many other things that went wrong today, having a horrible flight experience was the worst thing that could have happened. So take heed, if you fly Basic Economy, you have to a) pay a $25 checked bag for an otherwise acceptable carry-on bag on any other airline, and b) if you fail to check the bag there is an additional $25 fee on top of the checked bag fee if you check it at the gate. Absolute swindle. You buy a cheap flight because you can afford it, but then you have to pay extra for something every other basic airline ticket allows you to have. If I can possibly avoid it, I will never fly with them again.

"be respectful of others dietary needs"

Trip Verified | Flew United from Buenos Aires to Newark. Unfortunately this flight service was by far the worst I've ever had. Food in general is awful but when they came to my seat, the option would have been chicken or beef. The attendant said to me your option is only beef or beef. I looked at him like, what? He laughed and said sorry and my response was I'm sorry but I do not eat beef. His response was literally "you can eat the stuff around the beef". Mind you, I had seen a flight attendant come up and grab five chicken entrees before the serving was finished. I asked him if there was anyway to get chicken as I honestly don't eat beef nevermind eating around what the plate had. It had nothing except powdered mashed potatoes. This was a ten hour flight, I wasn't going to starve because of the lack of organization. In the end a flight attendant overheard how upset I was and they gave one of the ones they had taken. I know it is not the flight attendants fault at all but at least be respectful of others dietary needs. Our flight cost enough even on economy to provide us with better food services.

"display of rudeness from flight attendants"

Trip Verified | Auckland to San Francisco. I was traveling with my daughter and 5 year old grandson. The airline had changed our flight but did not give us the same seats, which had put us not flying together. We talked to the United person at the gate which he changed our seats and were very helpful in accommodating and put us together. Once on the plane for the 11hr flight home the flight attendants were very rude. At one point we were snapped at because we hadn’t filled out the entry to the US card on time. I believe she screamed at us and said “you had 11 hours to do this.” Never been on a flight with such a display of rudeness from flight attendants. Do not believe I will be using this airline in the future!

"went above and beyond"

Trip Verified | Chicago to Portland. We were super disappointed with American Airlines. The problem was coming from Detroit to Chicago trying to connect to Portland. Our plane was a smidge late getting into Chicago but wasn’t a big deal because we had an hour and a half between flights. We spent 1 hour driving around the airport. The other flight was behind and we didn’t have a place to port. So we missed our connecting flight. We had to check bags in valet so we had to wait for that but they lost our bag. I But the lady was super rude and told us it wasn’t their fault and was convinced we never valet our bag. Even though I had the receipt and the claim voucher. When we asked the lady at the counter to call down and ask them to hold the connecting door for seriously only 3 or 4 minutes, she said no - we sprinted down there to find out that they closed the door early. We go to counter to get new flights, they were rude, and wouldn’t comp any meals or hotel or anything. They booked us on a United flight that left 14 hours later. We went down to check in with United since we had a million hours to kill. United Airlines not only gave us food vouchers, they put us up on cots and gave us toiletries for free. They upgraded our seats, then had a person personally escort us to the United club so we could sleep for the night. They then tracked down our missing bag and paid to have it delivered to our house the same day we arrived home. Plus their WiFi worked in board. And they have really good cookies too. Basically United went above and beyond to accommodate when it wasn’t even their fault. We were super super pleased by them and all their staff! Congrats United. You just earned yourselves lifetime customers!

"one of the worst airlines I’ve ever flown"

Trip Verified | This has been one of the worst airlines I’ve ever flown in! I’ve taken this airline about four times because of how cheap it is let’s just say the cheaper the ticket the absolute horrible service! I have missed my connecting flight four times because of delays! Last night I took united from Boston to Washington DC as soon as I got off the plane I ran for the next airplane which was taking me to NC when I arrived it said now boarding I asked him to open the door because technically I was on time and they refused they were super rude they yelled at me I am in the service so I need it to be back before certain time they refuse to let me talk to anyone else to get for their assistance I ended up having to take a vehicle and drive to North Carolina absolutely horrible I will never ever ever take this airplane ever again ! And I’ve never been refunded for missing my flights which I have nothing to do with
