"Rude staff, rude security"

Trip Verified | Rude staff, rude security, poor signage, bad WIFI, and chaotic overall! To make matters worse, the CBSA agent did not tell me to keep the e-gate receipt, as it will be needed to be seen again after baggage pickup. I had to to go through full baggage (opened everything) check by a CBSA agent. What a waste of time. I am shocked they have not fixed this airport's issues! This is an embarrassment to the country.

"needs to retrain their Security employees"

Trip Verified | The US Security employee who evaluates the the bags that have to be manually checked after being scanned was egotistical and purposefully tried to give me a hard time. At the start of the line we were pushed into placing everything in one bin and then was told by this woman that there were two bags of liquids and gels and that I needed to consolidate them into one bag. The woman was rude and arrogant and said "they won't fit", "you should go into the line (Security) again". As well this review is being left because the woman inappropriately checked my wallet for its contents. Completely unnecessary. Pearson needs to retrain their Security employees as they are rude, clearly hate their jobs and enjoy their power trips on passengers.

"long distance in between gates"

Not Verified | Terrible airport long distance in between gates with thick carpet. I am in a wheelchair paraplegic, don't mind the distance if at least to wheel from Gate to Gate is not a hard workout for my arms or minimum let me in those golf carts, I am slim, I try to be as much as possible independent and I was able to pull myself up from the chair to the Golfcart and the driver rejected me, asked me to go down and wait for someone else to help me. Life is already difficult and unfair anyone can have an accident and end up in a chair, however I transfer myself, sometimes I might need a boost but not a pull up or carry-on.

"one of the most baffling as a travel experience"

Not Verified | Of all the airports I have been to, Toronto Pearson is truly one of the most baffling as a travel experience. You will land, only to be informed that there was a mix-up with runways and you will have to wait an extra twenty minutes past landing time. You will have your departure gate changed three times in the span of four hours, and with the needlessly spread out floorplan you are often walking for 5-15 minutes each time. The food selection is large, but the quality is average at best and the prices, much like the rest of Canada, are absurd. Despite the fact that they offer religious service in their multi faith chapel, cleanliness is not next to godliness when it comes to Toronto Pearson. Tables and chairs will be covered in garbage and debris for far too long, sometimes up to 45 minutes or more. The signage is confusing, and you'll find yourself often having to ask staff where you're meant to be, only to have rude and blunt responses given, no matter how friendly you try to be. Customer service and convenience is far from the priority here. Seats at the Gates regularly have holes in them, (and you'll see many of these as you walk hopelessly from gate to gate) with some having noticeable stains. Even only arriving and departing from the airport over an 8 hour period is almost unbearably stressful, rushing this way and that attempting to find some semblance of order in this mad system.

"luggage was delayed"

Not Verified | I left Pearson on Jan. 31 2023 to Punta Cana. Noticed the addition of a shuttle bus to get to our departure gate (not a positive change). Arrived in Toronto Feb. 7, 2023. Weather was fine. No COVID restrictions, nothing to blame for poor airport performance. Went through customs OK and then the problem began. At the carousel we were instructed to go to, an announcement notified us of an equipment breakdown and that luggage was delayed. OK, not happy but still hopeful. Luggage started showing up, but not ours. The whole belt was empty and then shut down.(carousel #9). Belt started and announcement changed us to carousel #10. By now it has been about 2-2 and a half hours. By this time I had to use a washroom to discover That the one washroom was at the far end of the hall at the entry point. Who planned this place anyhow? An announcement while in the washroom notified me that my luggage was being unloaded at carousel #8, It thanked me for my patience. Walked all the way down to #8 and finally luggage started to appear and it was ours!

"Changing gates every 30 minutes"

Not Verified | What a mess! Arrived in from vacation in Ireland as a transit airport with a 5 hour layover. So some smart idiot had all the passengers that were headed to Washington Reagan Airport running all over this airport. Changing departure gates every 30 minutes seemed to be a game with 30 gates in between changes. So if this wasn’t a game do try your best to get organized in this lifetime, either way none of us wish to travel through Canada ever again.

"2 hours only 1 of 3 bags arrived"

Not Verified | I am a Super Elite 2 Million Miler with Aeroplan/Air Canada. Waiting for 2 hours only one of our 3 bags arrived. The AC baggage customer service employee at Pearson Terminal 1 confirmed, looking at the tracking system screen, our 2 bags were left in Montreal. According to his instructions I filed a report. Luckily, we waited for additional 15 minutes and the two bags arrived. Speaking to him again, he reconfirmed that the system is showing the bags were still in Montreal. He turned the screen to prove it to me, I could not see any proof that the bags were still in Montreal. Clearly, he did not know how to navigate the tracking system. We were lucky but there must be thousands of unlucky people left the airport. Air Canada and Pearson Airport need to improve the incompetency level of their customer reps to properly handle people's property.

"the bottom of the barrel"

Not Verified | I’m sitting on the tarmac as I write this “waiting for a gate to open up”. We’ve been here over an hour and as yet there is no indication as to when we will disembark. It’s possible we could spend more time waiting for a gate than we did in the air. Looking at other reviews it would seem that there’s a very good chance that our baggage will be lost as well. Congratulations Pearson you really are the bottom of the barrel.

"everything was lackluster"

Not Verified | I don't know where to to start, but everything was lackluster. Security manually searched around half of the trays, picking and choosing the order at random. Of course, they found nothing except for a few people's water bottles. At the maple leaf lounge breakfast was considered of oatmeal and a few last slices of bread. Priority check-in consisted of the longest and slowest line I've seen that was called priority. Baggage service is the biggest joke of all. A couple of staff throw the bags off all belts and just put the bags in large piles. No order of logic to the piling. Many people waited/searched around 1-2 hours to find their bags. And those that did have to instead had to wait in the horrible customs procedure. Quite remarkable that they actually could have so many different versions of directions and information. Again, the saddest airport experience ever.

"Unbelievable. Worst airport ever"

Not Verified | Have been sitting on the tarmac over an hour now, (landed at 00:15) waiting for staff to secure us at a gate. Pilot said up to an hour until we have a gate. It is already 1:37 am. Apparently, there us no staff. This is after a delay of 3 hr delay (which I understand) leaving Vancouver, which was due to weather in Toronto. Pilot just updated us and said another 40 minutes, due to "chaotic" staffing issues. Said we likely won't get a gate until 2:30 am. Unbelievable. Worst airport ever. Last time I flew in, it was over an hour for luggage. I imagine I may be home by Christmas at this rate!
