"cleanliness was disgusting"

(Canada)

Not Verified | The airport cleanliness was disgusting. There was litter all over the place and chewing gum black spots all over the floor in the baggage hall. There were bags all over the place having been lifted off of the baggage handling areas. The toilets had paper on the floors and smelt bad. Toilet countertops were wet and dirty At the immigration at least 20 % of the machines are not working. Once we landed early we had to wait to get a parking spot. Once parked we then had to wait till the bridge was brought over and the door opened. This airport has gone down hill rapidly and COVID cannot be used as an excuse. Many other airports are not in the same sorry state. The management need to put in place an action plan on how to clean up up their act and then share it with the customers so that we can measure the improvement.

"Arrival was terrible"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | Arrival was terrible, took a good hour to just go thru the line to get pick up baggage. Arrived at Barcelona airport a breeze left from Rome airport again an easy departure . Have used Pearson airport at least 20 or more times this was the worse experience. Cleanliness was at a low, machines broken to checkout.

"signage is non-existent"

(United States)

Trip Verified | Toronto Pearson Airport is the most user-friendly Airport I have ever traveled through. Their signage is non-existent and there is very few staff to ask for help. When you do find a staff they even don't know or don't want to help. The baggage drop process for departures is ridiculous. It requires travelers to interface with automated equipment with little instructions. The flow of people is multi-directional causing bottlenecks. I will never use Toronto's again for future travel to Oakville, ON.

"put through another round of checks"

(Canada)

Not Verified | Arrived early this morning at Toronto Pearson connecting to Kelowna. We flew air Canada and were screened thoroughly in Dubai, upon arrival in Toronto we were put through another round of checks, take off shoes belt etc. I finally got to a wash room that was filthy and run down, and I noticed in the concourse it doesn’t look like anything has been maintained to an international standard. I am embarrassed that this airport represents a first impression of Canada to international travellers.

"disgustingly dirty"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | Airport is disgustingly dirty! Embarrassing!! If we don’t need to fly out of Toronto bonus for us. Toronto need to take liquids out? Ottawa keep liquids in suitcase? Let’s have all airports the same.

"YYZ continues to get worse"

(United States)

Trip Verified | Arriving into YYZ was not as challenging as a senior requiring assistance, however departure is a different story. First there are no directions letting a person know where they have to go, then you have to walk very far for assistance, you would not know this unless you find someone to ask, they have kiosks all over the place but do not tell people where to actually drop the bags. It is the most disorganized and confusing airport and apparently even the people who work there have no idea. I asked several people and they sent me to someone else. I have traveled YYZ for years and it continues to get worse.

"horrible service at Toronto Airport"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | The worst part of this airport is the service. They could robots work here and it would be a friendlier experience. All airports can have their lines and delays but I have never been to an airport where the the people working here could care less about you or your experience more. They are purely there to collect a pay cheque and get rid of you. I fly 4-6 times per month and I will sometimes fly into Buffalo just to avoid the people and horrible service at Toronto Airport. Of course because of this service and attitude of the workers the lines are long and it’s always a very poor experience.

"arrivals are always a traumatic experience"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | Toronto Pearson Airport has got to be hands down one of the worst airports in the world. I have been using it for the past 20 years and international arrivals are always a traumatic experience. The lines are enormous, staff yelling at people, complete chaos. Arrival machines often don't work properly, people who don't understand English well struggle with them, and even as a Canadian citizen you are subjected to multiple further document checks and questioning to arrive into your own country. Meanwhile, I can happily arrive at a European or Australian airport with my Canadian passport and just have it scanned and walk in, no questions asked. The baggage hall particularly at Terminal 3 is always like arriving at a chaotic third world country, with more chaos, bags strewn all over the place, people yelling everywhere, etc. On this particular trip, the departure was actually the more traumatic experience for once: all the cafes, stores, etc., pre-customs in Terminal 1 were shut down, so it was simply not possible to get a drink or snack - and this was at 5:00 PM in September 2022, not mid-pandemic! All the Air Canada international departure gates were clustered in the same tiny area of Terminal 1, and all of the flights were heavily delayed. There were virtually no announcements, and any that there were were barely audible and other announcements at the same time would drown them out. Thousands of people were waiting around for hours in a tiny area, with just a few small cafes and eateries, woefully inadequate seating capacity, and altogether very claustrophobic. I ended up going back to the long hallway where all the conveyor belts are as there were some isolated seats in the hallway to sit there. Just terrible. As I live in Toronto, I am stuck with Pearson airport. The federal government urgently needs to sort this airport out and make it a well-designed, pleasant, organized and stress-free place, just like most other airports around the world.

"a very rude and stressful experience"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | Once my late flight arrived at the gate, everyone was asked to sit back down again because the CSA did not arrive yet to attach the arm to the plane and let us out. My ride tried to coordinate arriving on time as best they could, but this 25 minute stall forced him to circle the airport and find a place to park and wait. As I exited the plane and made my 4 minute walk to the exit, my ride left that parking lot to meet me at pickup. I was on the phone with him to try and locate the car, while the parking patrol was simultaneously threatening him with a ticket and insisting that he moves, after pulling up to this spot no more than 2-3 minutes prior. I located the car 1-2 minutes after coming outside. This made for a very rude and stressful experience, as there seemed to be a bias in this parking enforcement. Maybe they need less power tripping parking patrol and more CSA agents.

"Arrivals hall is a complete shambles"

(Canada)

Not Verified | Arrivals hall is a complete shambles. Can’t blame the arrive can app issues now. What could be so simple is somehow made completely complicated here at Pearson. Having flown into uk and Ireland in the last few weeks with easy transition from plane to baggage, I cannot say the same for this airport. People being directed to machines to scan passport and having to answer onscreen questions to receive a print out which you then have to line up in zig zag queues. You end up having to show this print out to not 1 but 3 different officers. Elderly people, families with young children, Canadian citizens or visitors treated the same. On top of it all the walk to arrivals is quite long with barely any toilets along the walk. Carpet in arrivals hall seen better days. The whole place and procedure is out of date.
