Manila Airport

NAIA-1. Complete Zoo of a place. On Arrival I had a 30 minute wait for Immigration and a further 45 minute for baggage (many were longer) with no functioning aircon in either area. Customs is not a problem and taxi wait was OK late at night but I was 1 hour 20 minutes to exit the terminal. On Departure a 20 minute wait just to get into Departures but fortunately I'd checked in online for Emirates but for that the other poor souls would be waiting a couple of hours in queues stretching half way across the terminal. Most of the seating has been removed airside in departures and there were dozens of passengers sitting on the floor. Pretty quick to take your PHP 550 Terminal Fee. Immigration was another 20 minutes and I usually shell out PHP600 to get into one of the pay lounges upstairs - mainly to be able to sit in a comfortable seat relax and to get access to a clean toilet. NAIA-1 is just an awful place - mainly because for years it's been working at 3 times it's design capacity for passenger numbers. My Rating is based on T1 - T3 is much better. I also passed through NAIA-3 - way better experience. Quick into the terminal Cebu Pacific slick on check-in. Immigration and Security efficient with comfortable and spacious Departure Areas. Upon Arrival I was out of the terminal within 30 minutes of landing including Immigration and Baggage.

NAIA T1 is still a nightmare on all aspects queues everywhere unhelpful staff dirt and grime almost everywhere. Truly a real turn off for any fist time visitor to the country as this is the first impression you get as to how the rest of the country works and this airport is one of the worst in the ASEAN region compared to say Changi. Avoid if you can from lunchtime onwards as the place is overloaded with the mass of people & can't handle 4-5 flights arriving all at the same time. Forget connecting to a local flight as allow at least 3-4hrs just to transit to another terminal!

Arrived Monday 4pm and found all immigration desks were manned with no queues and sailed through. Bags took about 10 minutes to arrive but then straight through customs and into taxi. All told no more than 15 mins from disembarking to leaving the terminal.

I can never understand why the arrival and departure facilities next to NAIA 1 is not being used by international airlines. Not even the Filipinos are able to give a good answer! NAIA1 is so crowded that you need to arrive for check-in several hours before the departure. If the Philippines wants to be a modern country with development on line with Thailand Malaysia and the other countries in the ASEAN-region they really need to do something with their Manila airport. After all; with this present standard most tourists will likely visit other countries.

Manila is the worst airport I've ever seen. Arrived 4 hours before my flight. Sat down and scoped the food. A very poor selection for a primary international airport. Shameful. Having just come from Bangkok that is like paradise by comparison. After sitting for 2 hours we were ushered from our seat to a ridiculous long queue to once again check our documents. Probably the most innane organizational nightmare that left us without our seats, which my 11 year old was enjoying being occupied by a nearby TV. So we're left for another 2 hours of standing in a cattle pen. Really the worst airport with sour staff and awful services / process.

Cannot wait to leave. Manila is a terrible airport, small, no amenities, you are headed like cattle into small closed off waiting areas long before boarding and have to hand in your boarding card if you want to leave, very few shops and not many places to eat and nowhere with any quality, one of the worst international airports in the world.

Not Verified | Terrible queues to even enter the airport. Not only were the queues long but they were unorganised. Porters offered to let me 'skip the queue' presumably for a fee. Once inside the queue to check in was fairly long. Immigration and security were surprisingly short. Airport facilities were fine. Queue at boarding gate was ridiculous, boarding passes were scanned and we were ushered into a queue as the plane was not ready to board. Overall a tiring experience.

❎ Not Verified | Philippine Airlines changed our connecting flight and we had to spend the night in Manila flying for our flight into Daumaggette. On the flight back from Manila to Incheon we had to wait for 7 hours in Terminal 2. Once inside Terminal 2 there are no restaurants and only food kiosks with very limited selection and poor quality. In addition most kiosks only take cash. Please select another city for a layover for your connecting flight and save yourself the stress. The airport terminal lacks all basic amenities making it one of the longest layovers I have ever had.

✅ Trip Verified | This is the worst airport on the face of this earth. Expect people not to help you. Expect them to turn you away, expect them to treat you poorly and be extremely unhelpful. I was crying within the first hour of being here. I had USD on me and was starving but no one would help me with exchanging money. Not one person even helped guide me on where to go. I didn’t have WiFi and couldn’t get access to WiFi because I didn’t have a Philippine #. Luckily, one of the airline attendants let me use her WiFi and for that, I’ll be grateful. However, this was truly the worst experience in an airport that I have ever had. Next time I travel internationally from Guam I will be sure to stop through Japan instead.

Not Verified | Been to 3 out of the four terminal's here, all equally horrendous. Poor layout, not enough seating and lack of food and amenities is par for the course.
