Edinburgh Airport

✅ Trip Verified | As an airport, Edinburgh wasn’t bad. Being a smaller local airport, I tend to find that there isn’t as much diversity in the airlines or destinations which are available although those which are available can be more affordable compared to alternatives. Parking at the multi-storey was good, although some extra signage to tell you where to go would be useful or some physical staff to monitor traffic flow. Check-in was easy and little queue, plenty of staff available although having to apply a tag by the agent and walk and put the bag on another conveyor yourself did seem a little different, I couldn’t stop watching my bags to make sure they weren’t stolen! Security was quick although a little concerned they missed out my phone in my pocket, probably something that should have been flagged. Departures was basic but functional, toilets could do with some upgrades and cleaning but for a small airport the range of facilities was okay. Boarding for us was at the gate next to Costa Coffee, so very short walk and easy boarding plus plenty of space to relax before. Service in Boots was a little slow but that can be excused. Arrivals experience was very fast and efficient, most likely due to our arrival time. Did find that the staff at Border Control we’re a little intimidating. Baggage was delivered quickly as we we’re the only incoming flight arriving. Arrivals hall is quite basic and old, could do with some more facilities. Overall, okay airport if you want to keep things basic.

Not Verified | Shambles of an airport an hour and 20 minutes from landing and still awaiting baggage. Seems to be the normal in this airport whilst speaking with other passengers.

✅ Trip Verified | Absolute disgrace. No staff, nothing open including toilets with hundreds of people just sitting or lying on the floor as there are no seats. Its filthy and I'm ashamed that this is our local airport.

Not Verified | If it was possible I wouldn't give this airport any stars. My son and I had a flight at 6am from Edinburgh Airport and so early we had to queue at the check in for almost an hour. (My son is 2). The lady at the check in desk was very rude and not professional at all. Would not recommend.

Not Verified | Arrived at 20:30 2 December 2022. What a shocking way for people to arrive in Scotland's capital city. A Nissen hut type arrivals experience. A very long walk from the aircraft to the baggage hall upstairs wells and down stairwells to reach passport contract. Then a 40 minute wait at the baggage area for the first bags to come through. Our flight was full and everybody was tired and frustrated with the baggage delay, since we had all walked for 15 minutes to get to passport control, then waited there to clear, then another 40 minute wait for baggage. No staff to be seen anywhere, not in the baggage hall and not at customs.

Not Verified | This dump is an outrage. Arrive and from disembarking from the aircraft its upstairs, downstairs again in order to make it to passport control. E-gates as per usual hit or a miss. Only 2 manned desks by Border Force, both officers miserable. EDI is just a joke and best avoided if at all possible.

✅ Trip Verified | Chaos at arrival. Stuck on flight as no staff to support disembarking from plane. Then we start to queue for passports from outside in wet and cold. The entire hall is full taking an hour and a half to clear. We are lost for words, Edinburgh airport was once a great airport. Is this another ruse from the airport to encourage passport fast track to squeeze more money from travellers?

✅ Trip Verified | Once again another chaotic arrival at Edinburgh Airport. After exiting the aircraft and walking for what seemed miles we had the delight of border control, 2 border force officers for the entire aircraft and 5 automatic passport readers these passport readers are great if you have the brains you were born with and can actually follow the on screen instructions, about a third of my fellow passengers did not have a clue resulting in long waiting times to access them only after several failed attempts were they sent to the border agent. One border agent was very diligent (slow) whilst the other looked like he wished he was elsewhere. After border control we had the delights of baggage reclaim upon exiting the aircraft I noticed the lack of ground crew so knew we were in for a long wait for bags and I was not wrong. Edinburgh airport get a grip, this once was a great airport to travel through and now it is a nightmare but give them there due outward bound was slick bag drop 2 minutes and about the same for security but overall still a 1 star rating.

Not Verified | Departure was OK although toilets were not very clean. Arrival, on the other hand was awful. Having been stuffed on to an overcrowded bus, we were unable to get into the building for 20 minutes as several planes had arrived at once and there were too many people to fit into space. Fortunately, it was sunny rather than raining! The queue through passport control was awesome and only 3 booths were open for all those flights. The electronic machines did not seem to be working. After a very slow start, eventually staff were brought in to direct the passengers to checking desks and machines. One through, we found the floors to filthy and the toilets dirty. There was no toilet paper in a n7mber of toilets although plenty on the floor and my husband found that one of the urinals had been used as an ashtray! We were arriving from Vienna and felt embarrassed to see our Austrian visitors experience such poor conditions. Vienna airport is very clean and passport control was quick and easy.

✅ Trip Verified | Just an embarrassment. Sat on tarmac for 10 minutes. Then shuffled up three flights of stairs. Then down two flights of stairs only to queue for 50 mins to get through immigration. Then 20 minute wait for bags. Ridiculous.
