"Travelling by air has become a miserable experience!"

Not Verified | Currently sitting in the baggage reclaim at Edinburgh airport and have been told we will have to wait an hour for our luggage because the workers have finished their shift. Families with very young children are having to wait in a crowded area (several flights have been affected) with insufficient seating. Travelling by air has become a miserable experience!

"Very unhappy traveller"

Not Verified | Have arrived here from Spain and it’s now over an hour since landing and still no baggage. Very poor show and no information regarding when it’s likely to arrive. Will avoid travelling from this airport whenever I have the choice. Even if means paying extra. Very unhappy traveller. Taxi waiting, I hope. Terrible service for our capital city airport. Sorry for travellers from abroad to have this very poor experience on arrival to our country.

"it is not fit for purpose"

Not Verified | One of the most uncomfortable airports I have ever been through - and I have lived and travelled around the world. There are no seats in the vast check in area. The atmosphere is hot and stuffy and the floors are filthy. I used one of the toilets on the 1st floor and it was absolutely disgusting. The baggage handling is 3rd world stuff. It is set up as an international airport but it is not fit for purpose.

"Rude security people"

Hot stuffy, felt sorry for the staff wearing business attire. Security lines very long. Rude security people (we've traveled more than a little bit so I've got comparisons) Still taking shoes off here (caught any shoe criminals yet?) Pulled my wife out for special screening at boarding for some reason. Made her take off her shoes again with no good place to put them back on. Emptied her purse and carryon bag for searching and lost a few souvenirs in the process. Only consolation is that some of the other members of the tour we were on had come in through Heathrow and had a worse experience. Also you are required to get to the gates through a very long shopping arcade. Reminded me of a trip through an IKEA store. Can't recall a longer shopping area. Do people really buy a lot of junk at these stores?

"An absolute disgrace"

Trip Verified | An absolute disgrace. 3rd world WiFi, no phone signal, impossible to work, inappropriate scarce seating, it’s a shambles. There is no quiet seating area, god help you if (when) your delayed. The place is filthy, I’m ashamed this is my home town airport.

"It is not fit for purpose"

Trip Verified | Extortionate drop off charge. Taxi rank is windy, exposed, freezing and miles from any other transport. Confusion over private hire and black cabs. The airport baggage reclaim is either unfinished or someone saved a lot of money by not fitting a ceiling or even remotely trying to hide the services. The quality of the airport finishes is low, very average. The airport shops are of a very low standard and offer limited choice. Vodafone has a single but no throughput - I have given up trying to work in the airport. This is an airport I use at least once/month. It is not fit for purpose.

Not Verified | This airport was so hot, considering we have covid it was uncontrollable, the heat was too much that it actually made me ill. No seating, terrible with not enough seating areas. Very disappointing for such a massive airport.

"very stressful experience"

Not Verified | We had a flight with Air France at 16:50 and check in did not open until 15.10 by which time the line was incredibly long. Then there was a very insufficient number of personnel creating a very stressful situation. Passing security was also very stressful experience. There needs to be a sufficient number of personnel to handle high number of passengers

"the taxi situation was shocking"

Trip Verified | I fully agree with the recent comments below and would add that for me the taxi situation was shocking. It's not solely down the to the fact that there was a shortage of taxi drivers at 2 am but where is connected public transport network? Who is responsible for this co-ordination with Lothian Transport? Even a tram running hourly at that time of night would have still been quicker than the one hour 20 minute wait I experienced. Local taxis and Ubers are not allowed through (2 that I ordered cancelled as they weren't allowed access to the taxi point) and as a single female traveller I was reluctant to leave the queue and walk around outside in the rain at 2.30 am to find the designated pick-up point. And yes, talking with tourists in the queue coming into the country for the first time was embarrassing. I'm trying to find the correct contact details to send this to at Edinburgh Airport.
