"most horrendous airport experience"

Trip Verified | The most horrendous airport experience I have is ever had. It took almost 3 hours to check a bag and get through security. There is simply no sense of customer service or efficiency anywhere in the airport, but especially at bay check. I understand there is likely a shortage of staff with COVID; however, this does not excuse a total lack of awareness that customers are waiting and some even missed their flights because they were not able to make it through the bay line. Security was absolute madness and chaos - no directions were given to passengers; it literally felt like being herded in one huge mass into haphazard lines. Organization and proper staffing is a much needed change here. I hope to never have to go through this airport again. If you do have to go through here, plan on arriving 3-4 hours before your flight, otherwise you will definitely not make it.

"I’d avoid unless absolutely necessary"

Trip Verified | What a disgrace. Departing from Dublin on a Sunday - maybe their cleaners don’t work that day - toilets an absolute disgusting state. We needed food whilst we were there, the choices were WHSmith for pre packed sandwiches, the chocolate cafe or Burger King which was closed (4pm). We went to the hot food counter where there is no indication of food options until you arrive at the server, I asked what the menu was and the man behind the counter laughed and gestured at the slop available, he clearly couldn’t identify what it was either! Sandwiches were revoltingly thrown together and ridiculously over priced so back to WHSmith it was. Please sort out your act, there are long haul flights leaving this airport that might actually want a substantial meal, we were lucky enough to only need to travel an hour home. I’d avoid unless absolutely necessary!

"Decent airport overall"

Not Verified | Flown a couple of times into / out of Dublin in the last few weeks and seems I was lucky enough to avoid any of the major staff shortage issues that are happening atm. Overall the airport is easy enough to get through, though I hate that I have to walk past a bunch of useless perfume stalls in order to reach the waiting area. It makes you feel like being part of a herd of consumerist cattle. I like Dublin overall, it's got good connectivity, and not monstrously large. Staff are helpful enough and it's quite clean. Wifi is sufficient. Decent airport overall.

"Dublin airport is an absolute disgrace"

Trip Verified | Dublin airport is an absolute disgrace. Hours walking a queueing to cover a short distance. Returning was even worse. Return flight to Dublin was delayed by almost an hour due to delays at Dublin. There are 10 passport scanning machines in Dublin none of which were in use only causing more delays when leaving. Lucky for us we didn't have a connecting flight or bus to catch if we did we definitely would have missed it.

"The signs were terrible as well"

Not Verified | I use to love this airport. I don’t know happened. At luggage pick up we waited a very long time for our luggage. Someone had a question and there was not an employee to be found. It used to be so easy to catch the bus to cork. They changed from one area to many areas to catch the bus to Cork. There used to to be a guy at a booth at ground level at terminal two to help. There was no one anywhere to help. It was very hard to figure out the zones especially when several zones were out of the way. There were not any timetables outside. I found one by accident at terminal 1 inside. Thankfully there was an employee taking a break and he was helpful. The signs were terrible as well. I looked for 45 minutes for help with no one in site.

"Security was luckily quiet but very slow"

Not Verified | Security was luckily quiet but very slow as the one security man took his time helping people repack lots of liquids (more than allowed) - friendly but not efficient. More information or prechecks in the queue would have helped. Terminal 2 had no real food options - a carvery with a couple of bad looking options which I saw uneaten on leftover plates on tables. Most tables not cleared, everything very shabby and dirty. No Guinness to be had in the entire terminal due to a “problem” - overall an embarrassment I’m afraid to say.

"Dublin Airport is an absolute disgrace"

Trip Verified | Dublin Airport is an absolute disgrace. Upon arrival, me, my wife and baby waited one and a half hours in the immigration queue to enter. This is despite me and my son being Irish citizens. There was no priority line for disabled, pregnant women or families with babies. My son was screaming his head off for an hour and no one offered us priority in the line. 'Security' consisted of 1 young girl in a high vis. There were only 2 staff to check the documents for a line of well over 100 people. The waiting area was cold, damp, ugly and miserable. Our departure experience was "just as bad. The queue for security was massive. There was not enough staff to deal with the hundreds of passengers waiting in line. There were screaming kids and obviously distressed old people and, of course, no priority line. The line for x-raying was chaotic and disorganized. I had to go back twice to put another item through. When going through the magnetic scanner my baby was woken up, my wife forced to stand him up and he was poked with a stick. We arrived 3 hours early and had to rush to get to our departure gate after going through the nightmare of security. I would rather pay more to go through a different airport than use Dublin airport again.

"this airport is too small for the volumes of travellers"

Trip Verified | Absolutely the worst airport I have ever had to travel through. Total chaos with long slow queues for check-in, more queues for security and then unable to get anything to eat or drink as huge long queues and some cafes were not even open. Also very confusing when walking to the gate as it looks like you are walking through security and another duty free shop again. Car park was also very full with no indication which levels had free parking spaces. At the gate there were again huge queues to get onto the plane before they had even started boarding and not enough seats to wait on. In my opinion this airport is too small for the volumes of travellers and so chaotic and disorganised. More food options need to be open with their own individual checkouts and more thought and order put into place.

"Airport is extremely under staffed"

Not Verified | Airport is extremely under staffed. Queues for check in, queue’s for security. Once you get passed security the experience gets even worse. Tables in restaurant are filthy that’s if your lucky enough to get a seat. It’s not like your not paying enough for the badly prepared food but your expected to eat it at a dirty table and let’s not mention the toilets because that’s a whole different experience. The cleaning of the airport is done by a private company so either the company need’s to improve standards or the DAA need to employ a new company. Standards are horrendous. Shame on DAA considering this is Ireland’s main airport.

"It was a complete shambles"

Not Verified | Having travelled the world I have never endured the painful experience as I did at Dublin airport. Unorganised, chaotic and utterly ridiculous. It was a complete shambles. Nobody appeared to know what they were doing. The staff lacked direction and had zero awareness to the painful experience that travellers were having. This is not an international airport, I would expect this from a third world country.
