"Things are looking up"

Trip Verified | Toronto to Calgary. Things are looking up. After several negative reviews that focussed on operational inefficiencies, I had, finally, two pleasant experiences. Full flights both ways. Efficient check in, good luggage drop off and delivery, courteous cabin staff and clean airplane. Outbound flight departed and arrived on time. Inbound flight left one hour late due to de icing but gained back 30 minutes en route. The cabin staff were hard working and polite. Announcements were not overly corny or intrusive, on board purchases were adequate and the captain thanked us in person as we left the airplane.

"have to thank the attendants"

Not Verified | Toronto to Fort Myers. I have been an Air Canada flyer for a while, but WestJet is way better, more leg room, the flight attendants are aware of the travellers needs. I have to thank the attendants on that flight, I lost something very important and they returned it to me. So thankful for the person that was thinking and put the effort in to returning it me. I will be flying with West Jet again and again.

"Worst flying experience ever"

Trip Verified | Nanaimo to Las Vegas via Calgary. Our flights were changed three times, no apologies offered. Spent the whole day being transferred to different airports for a simple two hour flight to Vegas, it took us 12 hours to get to Vegas from Vancouver Island. Do not fly Westjet unless you want to get to your destination 5 days later. Its so horrible for words! Worst flying experience ever.

"I am so disappointed"

Trip Verified | Calgary to Vancouver. I have a frozen shoulder, I asked the male flight attendant to help me to put my carry on in the top compartment. I explain to him my condition, he said he cannot help me and I have to ask if somebody (other passengers) can help me. This is unacceptable, I am so disappointed.

"great efficient service"

Not Verified | Vancouver to Edmonton. My husbands suitcase was damaged when we picked it up from our flight from Vancouver. There was a doubt in the side and a big crack that was open. We were told to go to Westjet customer service. They examined the suitcase and did not hesitate to give him a new one. Very pleasant and helpful. We were so thankful for the great efficient service! Thank you Westjet!

"I was not in seats with leg room"

Not Verified | Vancouver to Toronto. Paid $40 for leg room seats only to find I was not in seats with leg room. Steward said they must have changed planes. Showed my receipt confirming payment. Asked to be moved to the empty seats with legroom after take off. Steward said they were not authorized to permit me to move to the empty seat. Return flight cancelled without notice and Westjet automatically booked me on a flight leaving 8 hours later. Could not understand what was happening when I tried to check in. Was required to contact their customer service to find out facts. Wasted 40 minutes doing that. She explained the cancellation and said all earlier flights were full. Only when pressed did she say I could be put on an Air Canada flight. I have flown with WestJet before. This was first time I have seen this degradation in service.

"a horrible experience"

Trip Verified | This flight wasn't even our first flight that got totally messes up. Never in my life have I ever dealt with an airline twiddling their thumbs the way they did with this trip to Mexico my partner and I had. In Toronto before leaving we had actually sat on the runway for 2 hours before actually moving an inch and then our taxi took about 10 minutes at least cause our airplane was just randomly driving back and forth. We finally leave and then arrive in Mexico. That was also a nightmare. About 3000 people in one small room in the airport and the check in line took about 3 hours to get through while they pulled people from the back who got there way after all the other passengers. Security as well was pretty much the same way. Coming back from Mexico I thought would be better. Absolutely not. We sat at the gate for almost 2 hours this time before taking off due to "weight concerns". Then it was data issues and then we just waited for more bags to actually be put on the plane. Having that said the stewardess' were not the friendliest (the woman at least) on both flights and did not have any meals available for passengers on a supposed to be 3.5 hr flight back from Mexico for purchase. As this was a 5 hour flight in total due to the lack of respect for time. My partner and I have a connecting flight at 9:20 in Toronto and had an hour and a half layover there to get our bags and go through customs and get on our flight. We are now landing at 9:10 and will now be forced to stay over night. I will never fly with Westjet again. This was a horrible experience.

"friendly and helpful staff"

Trip Verified | Victoria to Dublin via Calgary. Having spent the last 12 years travelling back to the UK 3 or 4 times a year using Air Canada premium economy, I decided to try Westjet for this trip. By comparison West Jet was $2,000 cheaper than the same trip on Air Canada and the inflight experience was better. A quieter aircraft (Boeing 787), friendly and helpful staff, seats that were comfortable, one main meal and a breakfast that were excellent. The main meal was better than the comparable meal on AC. The breakfast was way better than the yoghurt and piece of indigestion proking banana bread served by AC (or the boxed wrap AC serve on the return journey). Even on the short haul Victoria to Calgary leg the snack provided by WestJet was excellent. II shall be flying West Jet for the foreseeable future.

"baggage didn’t arrive with me"

Trip Verified | Calgary to Kauahi via Vancouver. Arrived in Hawaii on Thursday night, baggage didn’t arrive with me, attempted to retrieve baggage Friday night, and no one could tell me if my baggage had arrived or not. I was to leave on a three day hike Saturday morning (the purpose of my trip) and the best westjet could Offer me was ‘there is a plan for your baggage to arrive, but I cannot confirm if that is going to happen’. I purchased all new equipment to ensure that I actually got to go on my hike that I’ve been planning for 6 months. It’s now the following Wednesday, and I still do not have my bag. They will not deliver it to my hotel, and at this point I’m going to be back in my home town before I get my bag: and they will likely still charge me my baggage

"cancelled due to weather"

Trip Verified | The flight from Puerto Plata to Toronto was cancelled due to weather conditions. Other airlines were also cancelled. However those other airlines received notification that their flight was cancelled. We found out when we reached the airport. They rebooked us for a flight out and put us up at another resort for a day and a half. Thank you. Then they started rescheduling flights. I received 4 different emails with 4 different flights changes. This was confusing but we figured it out. Finally reached Toronto. Confusion again. Some customers received hotel vouchers, some didn't. The representatives were so unorganized it was painful. Confusion once again. Customers were confused enough but westjet added to it and left us with the feeling that they had no idea how to handle an emergency situation. Westjet unfortunately is unable to provide good service outside of canada.
