"Ground staff extremely rude"

Trip Verified | Ground staff extremely rude prior boarding. 1 particular young lady had a terrible aggressive attitude on commenting how passengers had to present their boarding pass and passport, and if not done properly they would put us aside until we complied. 3 times she repeated herself prior boarding, while her colleagues found her attitude funny by laughing about it. totally unacceptable, she should get fired!!! however no one commented or apologized for the flight being delayed by more than an hour. Could i remind you Westjet that you are a service company. Also seats quite uncomfortable and service on board minimal.

“staff are extremely arrogant”

Trip Verified | Westjet did not accept my checked in baggage at 0830 for my 1200 flight. I had to come to the airport a bit early as I was coming in from Barstow. I wanted to check in my baggage so that I could go past security to the lounge that I pay for. However, the staff told me that they could not accept baggage more than 3 hrs prior to the flight. Why would passengers get lounge memberships if they were forced to stay in the crappy part of the airport until right before the flight? Doesn't make any sense. My friends who flew Air Canada were able to check in their baggage at 0530 for their 1200 flight. WestJet staff are also extremely arrogant. Never flying Westjet again. Horrible service.

“long flying day went off without a hitch”

Trip Verified | We flew from Puerto Vallarta Mexico back to Winnipeg through Calgary. Both Westjet flights left on time and the connection went smoothly. The Puerto Vallarta airport is extremely crowded with bus transport out to the B787 waiting on the Ramp. Somehow with all these people crowded into a small space in the airport the staff did get the airplane boarded. The B787 Dreamliner is a much nicer more comfortable aircraft than the B737 to do a longer flight on. Overall a long flying day went off without a hitch, so my compliments to Westjet on a pretty good trip. Baggage handling in Winnipeg could be speeded up with a lengthy delay to get the bags.

"shame on you WestJet

Trip Verified | I’m flying from Saskatoon to Abbotsford via Calgary, my flight is at 8.55 pm with Westjet and there are 2 more flights earlier on which there are extra seats available. In order to switch Westjet wants an extra $700.00. Shame on you Westjet, it would absolutely make no difference to you to allow the change, I already paid just under $1000.00 for this trip, for which I could have had 2X a return flight to Ottawa. You sure take advantage of your travelers. I repeat, shame on you WestJet.

"This airline has gone downhill"

Trip Verified | I cancelled my flight well in advance of my booked flight. They couldn't find a replacement flight for my new dates so I said I would look for another airline, no problem. But whoever Westjet employee I spoke to, she didn't input my cancellation so when the day came of my cancelled flight they wrote me down as a no show and charged me for my cancelled flight. Even in their notes it says they cancelled my flight but for whatever reason they can still charge me full fare, not even a credit. This airline has gone downhill. I fly sports teams around the country, many times we used Westjet but not anymore.

“This was an awful experience”

Trip Verified | Our flights were canceled day-of due to weather, and we were rebooked on flights 2 days later. Since we had traveled to Edmonton to make the flight, we had to get a hotel to wait there for the new flights. The day of the new flights, we boarded the plane and sat on it for almost 2 hours before being told we had to get off due to the plane needing maintenance. We were then canceled again and rebooked another 2 days later. We had to get a hotel for one more night and eventually went home, having to cancel our entire trip. I also want to mention that the flight attendants told us (the entire plane) that the plane had sat there overnight so they needed to clear snow off the wings. If it sat there all night, why did they wait until it was fully boarded to see if there were any issues? Our request for compensation for the hotels was rejected. At the very MINIMUM they should have paid for the final night we had to stay. Also, while we were still on the plane, the lady at the gate said (over the plane's intercom): "if anyone has questions, please come to the counter when you get off the plane". Almost everyone lined up at the counter, and she very angrily yelled to everyone, "I NEVER told anyone to line up! Take a seat and we will make an announcement!" This was an awful experience, on top of having to cancel a vacation we had been planning for months, we were treated very poorly by Westjet staff and customer service.

"worst airline in existence"

Trip Verified | This is the worst airline in existence. My flight was delayed and then cancelled, and they lost my bag. This is not my first experience like this with this airline, and the last several experiences they attempted to avoid paying compensation. This company literally seems as though it goes out it's way to inconvenience it's customers. I would avoid this airline if I had any choice in the matter. Truly Awful

“customer service staff are atrocious”

Trip Verified | The worst experience of my life. Leading up to the flight they cancelled my flight then rebooked me on multiple alternate flights. On the day of the flight, they delayed by 3 hours and then cancelled it outright. Their customer service staff are atrocious and unhelpful. They change my new flight twice now. It remains to be seen whether the new flight would go ahead. Adding an extra day to travel to an already long international flight. Don’t book with them unless enjoy being tortured.

"gesture is greatly appreciated"

Not Verified |   Just want to give a shout out to the Westjet pilot on flight 287 from Edmonton to Abbotsford for rescuing my iPad from a charging location within the terminal. I left my iPad charging while I waited for my flight and forgot it when I boarded the plane and sitting in my seat. The pilot was amazing - he went and found my iPad (where I left it) and returned it to me. The gesture is greatly appreciated and shows me the extent that someone will go to assist their customers under the circumstances. Thanks again.

"it's such a bad experience"

Not Verified | They canceled our flight 10 minutes before boarding, because of some unscheduled maintenance, and booked me to another flight 3 hr later. I paid on my initial flight to get business class, but when they cancelled my flight and out me in the other one I lost my business class seat, and now I need to call to have a refund. The lady at the counter said she couldn't do anything, so what's the point of having people in the front lines of they are not prepared to fix or give a proper solution. Don't travel with this airline, it's such a bad experience
