"forced me to cancel my reservation"

Trip Verified | I was excited to travel in Virgin after the feedback I received from friends and made a reservation for travel in Dec 2022 but later had to change it to May 2023. Even before the travel the schedule changed several times and the final straw was then the schedule was changed leaving only 20min layover in Heathrow. This forced me to cancel my reservation which was a challenge to being with because of the more than 30min wait every time I called customer support. Once the booking was cancelled it took multiple email to customer support to get the funds back. This experience has left a very sour feeling making me reconsider ever booking on Virgin again.

"the big letdown here is the seat"

Trip Verified | These older A330s have the tired, 'Upper Class' seats and they look and feel old and are cranky in their operation. Not sure when Virgin intend to replace these seats but until they do, I will fly with another airline from Manchester to North America. The only Manchester route currently using the new seat is MAN to Orlando. That said, the customer service onboard was excellent. Pleasant, professional and attentive crew and a reasonable menu. I did not try dinner as I had eaten in the Virgin Clubhouse before boarding. The 'Full English' breakfast was welcome therefore after a few hours sleep. The scrambled egg left a great deal to be desired but far preferable to the BA rubber omelette. The in-flight entertainment offering is good for movies but very limited audio choices, which surprised me. The flight was on time departing and we landed twenty minutes ahead of schedule. As I said, the big letdown here is the seat.

"I have never experienced such bad service"

Trip Verified | I was excited to book my ticket with Virgin Airlines for the first time and was a bit apprehensive but was relieved when you were partnering with Delta. I also read the reviews before confirming my ticket about the seamless travel and partnering with reputed airlines that is advertised by VA airlines. But that was not the case. On my arrival at Delhi airport, on my way to India from London on January 28th at 1:00 am, there were no airlines representative either from VA or Indigo (partnering airline) guiding the transfer passengers for their onward journey. I was not aware that the flight from London would land at the international airport and I have to take my luggage to the Indigo counter in the domestic terminal. This information I found on my own. Is this what is called seamless travel experience? On my return journey, very poor in-flight service from London to Detroit (LHR -> DTW). It took 30+ minutes for an attendant to respond to the call button to get some coffee in the morning as I was feeling hypo-glycaemic. I had to walk up to the attendant station to find someone and get coffee. There were 4 airlines involved in this travel: Delta, Virgin Atlantic, Indigo for domestic travel from Delhi to Mumbai and VISTARA for domestic travel from Mumbai to Delhi. None of the domestic airlines could find my booking with the confirmation number provided by VA airlines and added to my anxiety. To top it all, one of my bags is lost and there is no progress posted on the tracking website about any effort to find it. I arrived on February 24 at DTW and today, it is March 3rd. There are three airlines (VISTARA, VA and DELTA) and three airports (BOM, LHR and DTW). Who is responsible to find my bag? Is it VISTARA who never loaded the bag and sitting in a warehouse in Mumbai or is it in London sitting as an orphan bag? This complaint is about the poor handling of the transit passengers, poor in-flight service, poor check in process, poor choice of partner airlines, poor handling of baggage. The price was good for premium economy ticket and the reason I went with this airlines for the first time. But I have never experienced such bad service during any of my travel and I travel internationally extensively. This has left a very bad taste in my mouth and would not recommend Virgin airlines to anyone or for my future travels. I have mentioned this feedback to Virgin airlines and have opted for the airlines to contact me either by email or phone but I am yet to hear from them. Mind you, I do get their promotional emails everyday but nothing to address my complaint. I would give a 0/10 as my rating.

"friendly and helpful cabin crew"

Trip Verified | Had a comfortable journey flying with Virgin Atlantic. Very friendly and helpful cabin crew. Flight attendant Shweta went out of her way to make my kids feel comfortable. I would recommend flying with them.

"highly attentive cabin crew"

Not Verified | 1st time flying with Virgin. Economy is what it is, but between some small gestures, highly attentive cabin crew plus comfortable seating, I found them to be a step up from other airlines. In flight entertainment is messy (very poor touchscreen response) but the meals (vegan option) were excellent and creative (it's still airline food, but it was very well presented and quite inventive), and the cabin crew couldn't have been more helpful or generous. I normally would look for the cheapest price but will make an effort to fly with Virgin in the future.

"never fly with them again"

Not Verified | Recently had a flight change from the evening, and then Virgin cancelled the evening flight until the next morning. We were informed any hotel costs and food would be reimbursed as they are the ones who cancelled and then re booked our flight. Virgin have now refused to refund the hotel cost they promised to reimburse. Virgin are clearly incompetent and liars, never fly with them again. In regards to the flight itself, food was terrible, seats very uncomfortable, if I could give less than 0 stars I would.

"Rude airline staff"

"£125 GBP for a seat assignment"

Not Verified | I bought a Business class (Upper class) ticket and called for seat assignment (calling the 800# put me on a constant loop of menus,: none of which offered an agent.) I found another phone number and learned that despite having spent $$$$ for a business class ticket I would have to pay an additional £125 GBP for a seat assignment. Astonishing and after this upcoming flight I will likely be done with Virgin

"regret to say I will go back to BA"

Not Verified | The staff both outward and inward were very good. My main gripes are the food and beverages for such a long flight. The children’s meals were inedible and of very poor quality. The wine in a can is abysmal. The inflight entertainment is adequate. When you have a flight in excess of 7/8 hours, good food, drink & entertainment are the things that help pass the time pleasurably, especially if you’ve paid to upgrade the flight. We flew back Upper Class but I can’t say it was much better. The flat bed seats are like ironing boards and so uncomfortable, the food & wine were marginally better than Premium but not outstanding. I regret to say I will go back to BA. Virgin, I gave you the opportunity but felt let down, especially for the price paid.

Not Verified | I flew with this airline for Christmas. Great airline, everything is up to standards. The food was great and it was very spacious. Especially my flight attendant who is lovely and attends to my every need, definitely outstanding service!
