"utterly dissatisfied"

(United Kingdom)

Not Verified | First time flying Virgin Atlantic and utterly dissatisfied. First of all flight delayed on way out and way back. Aeroplane looked run down and old with seats as cramped as a short haul Ryanair flight. Flown with TUI numerous times and feels like luxury in comparison. Would not recommend ever flying with Virgin Atlantic

"cabin crew was rude & unprofessional"

(United States)

Trip Verified | Food on flight is better than expected, economy class seats are narrow space. Cabin crew was good except bad experience on flight DL5989 (VS0137) from London to JFK where cabin crew was rude & unprofessional. He did not serve coffee, I waved my hands for his attention plus make attendant call from my tv screen but no one came to my seat. When he was picking breakfast garbage and I Told him that he did not serve coffee here, he told me rudely to come on pantry to take coffee.

"top-tier airline"

(United States)

Not Verified | Virgin Atlantic is a great airline and I highly recommend it. The air hostesses were amazing and the check-in personnel is attentive and friendly. They fed passengers with a courteous service. We flew on an Airbus A350-1000 from LAX to LHR, and I was really excited because it was my first flying in one of these aircraft. The seats were standard but quite spacious for economy class. I did encounter a bit of a problem at my check-in at LAX; the young man at the desk was a bit standoffish at first and seemed to not be having a good day, so I nicely told him to "smile" and he changed his demeanor after that and everything else went smoothly.

"Friendly flight attendants"

(United States)

Trip Verified | Great flights. Very good food, the mile high tea on the lhr-jfk leg was a really nice touch. A huge selection of music and movies to choose from. Friendly flight attendants available and happy to provide an extra drink or snack, including a fine selection of alcoholic beverages free. Good selection of items in the onboard duty free. The great service even starts on the ground, i.e. I'd injured my hand shortly before flying, and was allowed to check my carryon for free. Virgin sets the bar for great customer service, all airlines should aspire to be this good.

"Very bad customer service"

(United Kingdom)

Not Verified | Very bad customer service, small seats and bad entertainment service. I would have never expected a company as big as big as Virgin Atlantic to have very poor customer service and an unwillingness to solve a customer problem.

"crew exceptionally nice"

(United States)

Not Verified | Upper Class flight. Wonderful check-in and lounge at LHR. Ground Staff and Flight crew exceptionally nice, friendly and eager to make the trip as pleasant as possible. Food bland, leaves some to be desired. The 45 degree seating arrangement is terrible, especially if travelling with a companion. Impossible to have a normal conversation. Also window seating does not exist for all practical purposes. Having said all this, the experience in flying with VA versus BA, well VA runs BA them into the ground. Not even in the same league, and the biggest difference is the staff. BA flight attendants seem to be suffering through every minute they are in the job, totally different from the VA ladies and gets.

"never been embarrassed like that"

(United Kingdom)

Trip Verified | I ordered my third drink and had a cabin head come over and tell me I had to moderate my drinking! I told her I didn’t need that drink in that case and she could keep it but I would like to know her name. She gave it to me but I won’t use it here. I was then very aggressively approached by her senior manager to ask why I had asked for her name. I told her I booked a lot of travel and had never been embarrassed like that before in front of strangers. She then loudly told me I was only a Red member! Having asked for the senior managers name three times I’m told she is on her break, it’s confidential etc etc. I’ve never made a complaint review in my life. Great job Virgin. Your staff are clearly the ones the other airlines don’t want

"Really bad service"

(United States)

Not Verified | Really bad service, check in staff was rude and my luggage was lost by airline. The only way to contact them is by messages, they replied message after 24 hrs. Booked moslem meals, meals not given by cabin crew saying its not available. Me and my children were without meals for 7 hours, nightmare airline.

"plane itself is TIRED"

(United Kingdom)

Trip Verified | Flew from MAN to Orlando (and back) with Virgin Atlantic. Flying out, was the new A350. Nice seats, big entertainment system, LOADS of choice, and the tailcam is brilliant. Crew were excellent, food was good, however, seats where a little firm so on a long haul flight did begin to become a challenge. Also, the toilets were already looking tired in a plane just a few months old, and were ridiculously small! Not a lot of room either side of my shoulders to allow for movement! Flight back, on the older A330 classic. Again, good food, good crew, good choice of in-flight entertainment, bigger toilets, however, the plane itself is TIRED. older seats. Older in-flight TVs you need to smash to get a reaction from, my dad's chair had a very wobbly armrest, my mother's system didn't work at all. My wife had to move as the headphone jack had been smashed and taped up so it could not be used - apparently many had this problem. I can only recommend if flying the MAN - MCO route, pick the A350. And hope that Virgin take the A330 out of service and send it on a deep overhaul. It is definitely in need of the aeroplane equivalent of a spa day!

"Food and Drinks were very poor"

(United Kingdom)

Trip Verified | Comfortable seat, clean tidy, friendly staff. Traveled with wife an son, full price upper class return. 13 hour flight, Upper class was full, the flight looked to be full. Variety and standard of Food and Drinks were very poor. If it was a restaurant you would probably just leave. Only had coke as a soft fizzy drink, or orange juice from a carton. Instant coffee, no cheese and biscuits, Small quantity of vegan cookies, small cup of crisps, a handful of fruit. When I looked there were two red and one green apple, slightly harder than the average cricket ball, no grapes, bananas or plate of cut fruit. Only Chicken main meal left. An interim snack of cold cheese and tomato sandwich no plate or napkin. No scone, muffin, or Ice cream, (e.g. Haagen Daaz), no chocolates with your coffee etc. On the red wine front had a Malbec red available, not of the sort of standard I would normally drink. Only one type of beer available. The Champagne was an ok budget Champagne. A can of water was supplied on each seat, which was resealable. There was a small pulled duck burger towards the end of the flight, which my son enjoyed. Staff were friendly, seat comfortable, but suggest you buy your own drinks before you board and probably take some snacks and get a sandwich from pret. Certainly buy a coffee and put in a thermos flask. I think that until July this year there has been very little competition on this route. Quantity of flights has increased 10 fold since visa restrictions relaxed, probably 5 flights a week to 5 a day (across three airlines Virgin, BA, China Eastern). The Food and Drinks available does not reflect the increase in competition. I think I would fly via Tokyo or Singapore using a better airline or try the Chinese airlines, or just take a reasonable bottle of wine (duty free has a fair selection) and some crisps and some sandwiches. I did not open the toilet bag but I doubt it was of much merit. I would expect a selection of fizzy drinks, good wines (Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Malbec, Merlot). Expresso style coffee / Tea pot, biscuit, chocolate, Scone and jam Cheese, biscuits, grapes. Option of ice cream tub after dinner. Warm sandwich served on a plate with a napkin. A selection of reasonable meals.
