"the plane will be better"

(Belgium)

Verified Review | I was disappointed for my Brussels to Bangkok return flights at the beginning this year. I managed to get a cheap ticket, the plane gave the impression to be old. The crew seemed to rush for everything in such a way, and I had to asked to be served food and drinks. And quality of the food was no more what it had been during years. At breakfast, it was difficult to get another bread. At night, on one flight, there was only 1 FA available and I waited long time to be served water, I finally grabbed it myself from the counter. At least the plane will be better on my next flight (A350 now it seems). Hope they live up to their standard again with the new plane.

"Onboard staff had Thai accent"

(Australia)

Verified Review | Bangalore to Brisbane via Bangkok, the flight was was nothing exceptional. My wife ordered Indian vegetarian meals, these were served early, hot and tasty. Online Check In can be done only 24 hrs in advance, and all seats were taken when opened. Onboard staff had Thai accent and some passengers may not have understood them. The music library is cataloged very badly that it very difficluty to choose the type of music.

"a great experience"

(Indonesia)

Verified Review | Paris to Bangkok with their A380. This was a family holiday with 7 people. We did the mobile check-in a day before travel time, it was easy and smooth. Departure and arrival time was 30 minutes late. Flight was great, the FA was kind and attentive, and served with smiles, compare with our previous flight from Bangkok to Paris where most of the FAs look a little bit tired. IFE was great with plenty of movies and entertainment choices. The only minus point was me must wait around 45 minutes while waiting to disembark since they had a technical issue with the jet bridge. I was worried about my connection flight to Jakarta since the transit time only 2 hour, but they were still waiting for us. Overall, it's a great experience flying with them.

"no complaint about this flight"

(Indonesia)

Verified Review | Bangkok to Jakarta. It was not their newest air fleet but the old Boeing 777. The flight was smooth, most of the FAs surprisingly fluent in English compare with my flights with them before. The food was so so. The IFE was basic but fine. Although this was not their newest fleet but surely they do good in maintenance, the cabin was clean and fresh. Departure time was 30 minutes late due to operational reason, but still no complaint about this flight and their service.

"inflight service was fantastic"

(Thailand)

Verified Review | Excellent ground service from Bangkok to Frankfurt with Thai Airways. Excellent spa experience. Food in the lounge was ok. Food on the plane was good. Caviar was excellent. Inflight service was fantastic. The seat is very comfortable. I really enjoy the flight. The only thing to improve is that the choice of pre order meal is a little bit limited. Singapore Airlines (book the cook) is great example that Thai Airways should study to improve the pre order service.

Verified Review | Return of outward journey 9 days ago flying from Bangkok to Hong Kong. Plane was certainly cleaner, however food was mediocre at best. Plane left on time but arrived late. "a good experience in long haul economy"

(Japan)

Verified Review | Flew Melbourne to Osaka via Bangkok. Thai used to have fantastic leg room in economy, but now it's down to 32" or 31" seat pitch, OK but not really comfortable for someone 194cm tall, as I am. The Boeing 777-200 on the first leg was old but OK, the front economy cabin on the A380 on the second leg was curtained off from the rest of the aircraft and was a very quiet and comfortable area - not surprising given that this area is used by some airlines for first class. Food and service on both flights were very good (given that it's Y class after all) and the baggage allowance generous (40kg for me as a silver status Royal Orchid Program flyer). However, being offered almost identical two breakfasts on the same day (one on the inbound aircraft and one on the outbound aircraft five hours later) wasn't a great experience - at least I had a choice of main dish so could vary it slightly. The international transfer arrangements in BKK are a disgrace - the airport is really letting the airline down. I arrived in BKK on TG 462 at 6am and departed TG672 at 8.25am. I joined the transfer queue at around 6.20am and only got through security at around 7.25. A lot of the time was spent held back at a gate where desperate pax with tight connections were coming forward and begging to be allowed through but told by unsympathetic officials to go back into the queue. I had sufficient time to make my onward flight but the whole process was stressful and I think that BKK airport's bureaucratic incompetence really undermines a lot of the good work done by TG staff on long haul flights. For the most part, though, Thai provides a good experience in long haul economy.

"meal was inedible"

(Hong Kong)

Verified Review | Hong Kong to Bangkok. The plane was filthy and meal served out of Hong Kong was inedible, many complained about it and asked for another one, but came up the same. "experience was exceptional"

(Hong Kong)

Verified Review | Hong Kong to London Heathrow via Bangkok. Flying experience was exceptional. The first flight from Hong Kong to Bangkok was delayed for one hour due to the thunderstorm in Hong Kong. This shrunk my transfer time by one hour. However, ground staff at Bangkok airport friendly helped us and the connection was finally smooth. From Hong Kong to Bangkok I flewed on an old B747 but entertainment system was updated. Cabin crew was enthusiastic and hot towel was provided when boarding. From Bangkok to London I flewed on A380. Although legroom was tighter than that on B747, it provides more seat recline and I found it comfortable as well as a 190cm. Food was among the best, especially compared with airlines in China. Each meal consisted of hot food, dessert and salad. Freshly baked croissant was provided at breakfast. I will definitely fly with Thai again.

"service highly exceeded any previous experience"

(Japan)

Verified Review | Flew Paris CDG to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi. First long haul flight in a very long time on an Thai A380. Royal Silk Class is a 1-2-1 configuration, and I had a B seat (window side, but slightly separated from the wall). Comfortable seat, two window-side storage bins, plenty of space between the seat and the window to put your shoes and other stuff. What I like of the A380 seat is that you can slide the tray with your full dinner on it and easily move out of your seat. I am used to high quality service and excellent food in Royal Silk, but this time the service highly exceeded any previous experience. Excellent flight overall. If I only had any - very minor - complaints it would be that, after 5 years in service, the monitors seem to have a lower resolution than more modern aircraft (or probably it's only my impression, as my inbound flight was on a super modern A350 where the monitor quality was impeccable), also, the restrooms, even in Royal Silk, feel quite small comparing to Thai's A350 or B747. Also about the restrooms, I was happy to find that the moisture lotion has gone back to the excellent Bulgari Eau Parfumée au Thé (Blanc now, it used to be Vert a few years ago), after switching to Era's Cloud Nine for a while. The only pity is that the lady in front of me stole the whole bottle after less than 15 minutes into the flight. Despite these little details, a great flight experience! One final note: check-in, as always at CDG, was a nightmare. But it wouldn't be fair to give a bad evaluation to Thai's ground staff for that, as it was handled by CDG's staff. Even at embarkment, the lines handled by Thai's staff proceeded very swiftly, while my line (handled by CDG staff) was incredibly slow.

"service was not as expected"

(Germany)

Verified Review | Thai offered very attractive rates. We booked Frankfurt to Bangkok then on to Phuket and Krabi. I briefly want to describe how different services with one airline can be. FRA-BKK was the afternoon flight TG921 with the B777-300ER. Unfortunatlely we had the entertainment box beneath our seats which made the space additional tight. The entertainment system was a bit difficult to understand and it took a while to find German translated movies. The service was not as expected. This was very average only. Additional our row was served a german traditional meal (thick noodles, red cabbage and goulash). No alternate was ordered. It felt like there were 3 german meals left and need to be distributed asap. This wasn’t satisfying. Drinks were served before and while lunch. Once again just before landing in Bangkok. In the meantime drinks were available in the Galley. Once we decided to push the “crew button” for service. However no one appeared at all. However even if the services was not as expected the flight was safe and on time.

(Thailand)

Verified Review | Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur. Thai Airways recently has overhauled their fleets, it is now a good choice to fly with as you get a chance to sit in a newer plane. "our pre-reserved seats were changed"

(Thailand)

Verified Review | Bangkok - Manila - Bangkok. The check-in at BKK was quick and efficiently carried out. Unfortunately, the seat that I had reserved was changed without my knowledge resulting in my travelling partner and I having to request the check-in staff to look for seats to seat us near each other. Fortunately, there were available seats. The same thing happened on our return flight where our pre-reserved seats were changed without prior notice. This time there were no seats available for us to be seated near each other. The cabin crew were friendly, approachable and seem happy to help. Shortly after departure, a drink service with a small packet of snacks were given, followed by the meals service. Just before the meal service ends, the cabin crew came round with another round of drinks service. The catering was good and the portion generous.

"seat was rather comfortable"

(Germany)

Verified Review | Bangkok to Munich. Boarding was very quick and efficient and we were soon sitting on our seats that we had reserved online in advance. The aircraft was pretty worn, IFE screen was tiny and the resolution reminded me of flights I took between shortly after personal screens were introduced. At least the content was on demand. The seat was rather comfortable and every passenger got a blanket and a pillow. However, the seat felt narrow and it was not possible for me to find a comfortable sleeping position without constantly touching some buttons of the IFE remote, which had the result, that the screen was constantly switched on again. The crew was disappointing, they were not able to live up to the reputation Thai has. Although they were very efficient and service oriented, I almost felt as if they were yelling at me. The cover of my armrest was loose and fell off. When I told the FA, she put it back and said " It's okay?". Needless to say it fell off again shorty after. Food was OK, but not exceptional.

"pleasant and happy to help"

(United Kingdom)

Verified Review | London to Bangkok return. Heathrow check in was smooth at Terminal 2 and got to the gate and boarded the flight without any issues. Cabin crew were very polite and with a lovely Thai Smile as you would get anywhere in Thailand. The seat was like an exit seat and had plenty of leg room which was great and even managed to charge my phone on board. The B777 was nice inside and looks like it has had an upgrade to add plug sockets to charge devices which is great. Through out the flight the cabin crew were pleasant and always happy to help. 2 meals were served on board which were nice and appealing. On landing. Exiting the plane was smooth and no issues and was given a Thai farewell. The return journey back to Heathrow from BKK. Checking in at BKK was easy as always and no problems and check in staff were helpful. Same plane back but had a last row seat in the middle which was ok but legroom was adequate but at times felt a bit uncomfortable. This was not at issue with the seat i took more that i am a big guy. Cabin crew were equally as good on board through out the return flight and food was equally the same on both trips. Would I use Thai Airways again. Yes. Nice seats, able to charge a phone on board. Pleasant crew on board. In flight entertainment was good. Good nice meals on board. Also 30kg luggage allowance against BA or EVA 23 KG allowance which is far better.

From the moment we boarded the plane it was just an experience that I would love to have every time we fly. "no point flying business class"

(Malaysia)

Verified Review | Thai Airways puts family with children as last priority. I was flying Bangkok to Phuket with my two kids and had a stroller with me. As with all airlines I was asked to leave the stroller at the entrance of the cabin which I did. But what came after was a disaster. Thai Airways made all the families with children wait for their strollers till the last luggage came of the baggage reclaim. So it's really no point flying business class as we still had to wait till the last luggage as with other families whom had to wait for their strollers.

"service was responsive and attentive"

(Russian Federation)

Verified Review | Flew Thai Airways from Manila to Bangkok. When I arrived at the airport I saw a very long queue (more than 100 people) and it was for my flight check in. At first I was shocked but the registration process was efficient so it took about 40 minutes. We took off without delay and it was a smooth flight. The plane was very old but everything was clean. The service was responsive and attentive as always. Food (including alcohol) was above average. But it was expected. It's not a low cost airline and the minimum regular fare is more than 250 usd for this about 3 hours flight. So I put it 8 from 10 (minus 1 for an old plane and minus 1 for price/quality.

"Irresponsible customer services"

(Singapore)

Verified Review | Singapore to Nagoya via Bangkok. Irresponsible customer services. I was late for my connecting flight due to my previous flight got delayed in Singapore, as a result, I had a really tight connecting time by the time I reached Bangkok. I was only verbally guided by a male ground staff (he vaguely pointed at some directions), and I had to run crazily at 2am in the huge airport (from gate G to C? - within 10 mins for 2 KM) to catch the flight. When I reached my destination, I was informed that my baggage didn't follow the same flight, and I could only got my baggage back the next morning. I have been contacting Thai Airways via emails and facebook for more than a month, the only replies that I have got so far is they said they need 2 weeks to handle my case - 2 months are coming!

"seem to be cutting costs"

(United Kingdom)

Verified Review | Bangkok to London on 1st May 2017. We were unable to order a special meal online prior to check in which was disappointing and especially as my partner requires a Muslim / Halal Meal. No menus were distributed and cabin staff were unsure whether the meals contained pork and had to make enquiries. For outgoing and return night flights no socks, slippers, tooth brush / paste or ear plugs given in economy class. Thai Airways seem to be cutting costs on this route at the expense of passenger comfort and yet the flights are usually more expensive than other airlines due to being non stop flights. The meals could be described as average at best. Food and beverage on other airlines I have used are superior to Thai. I am old enough to remember the days when Thai Airways issued all ladies with a complementary Orchid on arrival. We raised all the above points with the senior cabin crew who were sympathetic and suggested writing to the airline, hence this review. Not keen to fly this sector again with Thai Airways in the near future.

"mediocre in terms of service"

(Hong Kong)

Verified Review | Thai Airways service from Hong Kong to Tehran via overnight layover at Bangkok was mediocre in terms of crew service and time management. It has come to my concern that Thai has had serious delays at HKG recently on their service to BKK. Crew was mostly unhelpful and quite rude and robotic in their attitude when asked for an immigration card. The only reason to keep me flying with Thai is their newly introduced service to Tehran via Bangkok and also their top-notch gastronomic experience which was on par with my past experience flying on their Economy and Business Class.

"cabin crew incredibly consistent"

(Philippines)

Verified Review | Manila to Hanoi via Bangkok with Thai Airways. The last two legs flown during Songkran, which added a unique touch to the menu. TG's cabin crew have been incredibly consistent in showcasing the vaunted Thai hospitality at 30,000 feet on all three trips I have taken with them (2007, 2014, 2017). Their IFE, which has ample content, continued to play even after landing, which were all smooth. The only thing TG doesn't seem to have are new aircraft. The planes I took were well-maintained and spotless but at a time when other players boast of equipment barely two years old, you feel like being in a well-maintained and immaculately presented 2001 Toyota Altis with TG while your neighbor pulls up in a 2017 Honda Civic.

"Issues with on board service"

(United Kingdom)

Verified Review | Flew Thai Airways from Bangkok to London. 12th Feb 2017, no sense from Flight Manager at check in who made no mention that TG916 was delayed. At gate C4 the staff member had no idea why the flight was late. We left the gate 1 hour later. Issues with on board service. Flight Manager told me that their English was not that good which contradicts their corporate policy. Appalling service from cabin crew, poor inflight entertainment and very poor quality food. We touched down at LHR late.

"Entertainment didn't work"

(Australia)

Verified Review | Melbourne to Bangkok was late departure, Bangkok to Hanoi was on-time, Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok very late arrival, very late departure, no issue on board. Bangkok to Melbourne late. Entertainment system didn't work on a 9 hr flight, instead of moving us to other seats, the Purser tries to reset, it took nearly two hours for him to fiddle with to no avail, still he doesn't want to move us to other seats, while other passengers are already taking other empty seats prior to taking off. At the end he gave up and suggested to us to move to another two separate seats, why do we need to accept mediocre service? So we refused his offer, he could have done more at the beginning when we told them that he should move us in the first place. Surely they can make a note online or check in that these seats so and so have issues, so passengers don't have to sit on those seats. It wasn't a full flight too. The Purser tries to appease us by offering a bottle of perfume, which I refused, as we only want a working entertainment system that works. While I was sleeping he gave my wife two Business Class amenities - we do not want TG amenities in lieu of non-working entertainment system. Cabin crew are mostly good, I find some are very slow to response. On a good note, the meals are excellent for economy class.

"was very pleasantly surprised"

(Thailand)

Verified Review | Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok. It is some years since I flew with TG and was very pleasantly surprised. This short flight was excellent in most regards. I was able to select my seat on booking some weeks ahead, the price was very reasonable, the aircraft interior seemed relatively new, my lunch of chicken and noodles was tasty and, despite being completely full, the 9-across seating on the 777 was comfortable. The flight attendants could perhaps have smiled a bit more often but they were obviously extremely busy throughout the flight. Took off on time. With ongoing runway repairs on BKK's eastern runway, 15 minutes being stacked prior to landing was far from unreasonable.

"A350 flight was rather stuffy"

(China)

Verified Review | Flew TG409 from Bangkok to Singapore. Unlike my departing flight from Singapore to Bangkok, I was rather disappointed that this A350 flight was rather stuffy, I could simply suspect the air-con was not even working normally. I did not get an aisle seat because all seats were taken when I tried to pre-select seats. But the good thing about this flight was that the IFE screen is very new, with the tail camera function, my pre-ordered seafood meal was tasty and was served very soon after take-off. My window seat on the right offered me a stunning sunset view.

"this was an enjoyable experience"

(China)

Verified Review | Singapore to Bangkok. I was surprised that the aircraft is swapped from the scheduled B777-200 to B777-300ER. This is the newest Boeing 777 aircraft in the fleet, the cabin is cooling, every seat features with new IFE screens. There is limited variety of music but a wide variety of movies. The only thing that dissatisfy me is that the scheduled aircraft kept changing, my pre selected seat was gone, at Changi Airport the check in staff was unfriendly, as he was very impatient when I asked for the reason. But overall this was an enjoyable experience on the Boeing 777-300ER , my pre-ordered seafood meal is tasty.

"Thai domestic is a nice experience"

(Thailand)

Verified Review | Phuket to Bangkok. I fly this route once a week. They use the same Star Alliance livery A330 for the last flight from Bangkok and the return next day early morning. I noticed that the snack meal is much better to the return flight (or happened to change this week). The same there is a big difference (up to the day) of the skills of the cabin crew. To this last flight the behavior was exceptional and always far better than Thai Smile. Anyway arrival on time, feeling of security and fast bag delivery. Apart the old aircraft flying Thai domestic is a nice experience.

"an enjoyable relaxing flight"

(New Zealand)

Verified Review | Perth to Bangkok. Check in was fast as we were early. The check in staff advised the flight was not full and put us in the middle with 2 aisle seats and middle seat empty. On board staff all smiles, my first time on a Boeing 787, saw the overhead locker was pretty high, I am 5ft 8inches and could not see into the back of the overhead locker unless I stood on the seat. The aircraft seemed pretty spacious with high ceiling and large windows. We had plenty of leg room and seat was comfortable for a 7hr flight. Plenty of movies and TV shows to watch. Meal was a choice of chicken curry or fish. I had the chicken curry and it was delicious with rice and crunchy beans. My partner had the fish and he said it was delicious. Soft drinks wine and spirits were offered with the meal service. The wine was ok after one glass decided to stay with ginger ale. Service was professional and smiles all round. Throughout the flight they offered water and juice, later in the flight they offered mango ice blocks, yummy. Toilets were kept clean and fresh, they are good sized toilet on this aircraft 787. Great service and real nice food, would have been nice if they could have offered a second helping. Thank you Thai for making an enjoyable relaxing flight.

Verified Review | Copenhagen to Bangkok was my first flight with Thai Airways and it was overall a very pleasant experience. The inflight service was swift, polite and efficient, the meals very good and the entertainment system was good too. There was a lady who vomitted in one of the rows adjacent to mine. It was quite a struggle for the rest of us to be unwilling spectators to this lady's ongoing performance throughout the flight. Her companions were quite uninterested, but she had no problem referring the incident over again for other people coming by. This was of course out of control for Thai Airways, but still quite a nuisance to the rest of us.

"a comfortable flight"

(Canada)

Verified Review | The long flight from Bangkok to Brussels was quite comfortable. The lie-flat seats of Thai Airways Boeing 777 allow to rest and sleep most of the duration of the flight. As the flight leaves BKK after midnight, we chose not to take the dinner. We had a very nice breakfast before arrival, however. Service is OK but quite slow, due to the insufficient number of staff assigned to the back business cabin. All considered, a comfortable flight but some small improvements can make it better.

"the service was thus refreshing and pleasant"

(Thailand)

Verified Review | Back from a business trip from Phuket to Bangkok on TG927, 2/3/17. The flight was on FRA-HKT-BKK route with stopover in HKT. There was a crew change and the service was thus refreshing and pleasant. A snack of hot calzone with beverages tastes just fine. Arrival was on time but the baggage claim is rather slow compared to other flights I've flown as it took not less than 30 minutes. Mileage accrural to my Royal Orchid Plus (ROP) takes about a week's time despite it's a THAI (TG) flight while it took only one day for the its cousin Thai Smile (WE) flight to be credited to my ROP account!

"seats were comfortable but tight"

(United Kingdom)

Verified Review | The outbound flight from London to Bangkok departed on time. This was an evening flight so food was served quickly so that passengers could settle down. Go for the Thai Samrab - a quite tasty sortiment of various thai foods on one tray. Don't understand why the soup is served at the same time. By the time you have eaten it the rest of the food on the tray is lukewarm. Full flat seats which were comfortable but tight. Crew disappeared after the meal service to appear again 2 hours before landing. The return flight had a technical problem and we were advised around 1 pm by email that our departure at 0015 had been rescheduled for 0715 and that we should contact the customer service for further info. After holding the telephone line for 10 mins we finally got through. I explained that we had to get home today and not tomorrow and. the agent then put me on hold for another 10 mins only to then explain that there were no business class seats available on european bound flights that evening but we could go economy. He couldn't advise how and if I would get the difference for the airfare reimbursed. I refused to do this and he answered "then we would just have to wait." No offer of accommodation etc. We gave up frustrated and went to the airport in hope of further help. Strangely enough at the airport they were able to put us on the next flight to Frankfurt with an onward connection to London. This was an A380 and we were upstairs. The aircraft is really quiet. However, do not take the seats in front of the toilets in this cabin. The constant flushing of the toilets resulted in getting no sleep. Otherwise a normal flight nothing special. "In the end I gave up"

(Australia)

Verified Review | Flew Thai Airways from Bangkok to Melbourne. My screen wasn't working so I notified the air hostess. She looked annoyed but went away muttering something about fixing it. A fair amount of time passed and nothing was happening. I started pressing buttons on the control, then she appeared and practically snatched it out of my hand and said something like "don't touch takes 10 minutes". So I waited and waited and waited. In the end I gave up and decided to try to sleep. I put the blanket over my head and relaxed. Within 10 minutes she was tapping at me saying "try now try now". It didn't work. She asked if I wanted to move seats I said yes. So finally sitting with a working screen. Then when the meals came around I was given a vegetarian meal. I tried to tell them I didn't order it but they said "just wait" I felt like a child in school being chastised! Same hostess who was supposedly fixing my screen came to me and asked what the problem was. I said I didn't order this may I have a normal meal. She then went on to to say why are you in this seat its not yours. I said you told me to sit here because my screen wasn't working.

"pretty nice service"

(France)

Verified Review | Thai Airways has a pretty nice service, hot snack. Due to the number of passengers between Phuket and Bangkok jumbo jets are used on the route and the company proposes an IFE for the short 1H flight. However, you can feel that Thai is facing tough times as the choice of food and drinks has been drastically cut. The only drink offered is water or juice, which puts Thai below European carriers (except BA) for short hauls. Overall a cheap flight, with a nice IFE but below standards food and drinks.

"Thai Airways needs to improve"

(Germany)

Verified Review | Thai Airways needs to improve. The A330 on route from Krabi to Bangkok seemed to be a very old and outdated model. Shows major signs of wear and tear. Special meal was not catered and the onboard staff were absolutely careless. On the night flight (BKK to FRA) no decaffeinated coffee was available in the upper economy class galley. It caused major confusion amongst the onboard staff to make decaffeinated coffee readily available. Even a main purser was unable to straighten out this problem. "not really worth paying for"

(United Kingdom)

Verified Review | London to Bangkok. I had stayed In the Singapore Airlines Heathrow lounge until final boarding was called and the gate was across from the lift exit. The person controlling passenger entry to the upper or lower deck entry looked at me and said 'economy?' I said 'first'. I was directed to the right hand aisle and after sorting myself out was offered a drink. Then a person introduced herself as a flight manager and said to ask her about anything. Flight took ages from gate to take off as Heathrow was full. Seat is wide and comfortable but I could always see middle seat passenger whilst seat was in sitting position. Had more Champagne after takeoff with a funny bit of chicken first, followed by a Thai northern sausage, which was hot, but I did not like the cooked egg dish or nuts. The caviar is now served in a controlled portion screw top bottle with plated garnitures and vodka has to be requested. I chose a Thai selection for main course which was extensive. Duck in red curry was not very succulent as I don't think that reheating duck can turn out very well, unless as Confit. Dried shrimp was fiercely hot. Long cooked soft pork was soft. I did not need anything else but the cheese looked nothing special. Red wine was an improvement on anything offered in Thai that I have ever had. Sleeping was not so good. Seat length and width are good. But the seat is hard and segmented, the seat cover and blanket are of poor quality and they could purchase United Polaris pillows rather than the uncomfortable two currently on offer. I was in 1K and the lighting from the front staircase was intrusive. By the way, the bar area at the front of the plane is disused, apart from providing somewhere to sit whilst your bed is being made up. Overall not really worth paying for over Business class product.

"they need to verify my visa"

(New Zealand)

Verified Review | I had a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Auckland with transit via Bangkok airport. Upon checking in at KUL airport, my New Zealand visa was verified by Thai Airways staff. I have a 5 year working permit, and it's not my first trip out of New Zealand and back. Me and my luggage was checked in all the way to Auckland. However, I had to pick up my boarding pass for KUL - Auckland stretch in Bangkok airport. At Bangkok airport I was advised by Thai Airways representative that they need to verify my visa. On my remark that it was verified in KUL airport already, I was advised that their internal system isn't working and they cannot check. I was told to wait. After waiting for 1 hour, I came to the counter, and asked what is going on. A Thai airways representative said he sent Telex to New Zealand immigration, and there's no reply from them. So he cannot put me on the flight unless he gets response from them. He said my visa isn't real and there is something wrong with my passport, that's why there's no feedback. I told him to call the immigration. He said they cannot do overseas calls. Eventually, I called Auckland airport and asked to put me through to immigration. I talked to the immigration officer, who confirmed that it's not the right thing that Thai Airways is doing. He talked to the representative then, and gave me the direct number of the immigration office that deals with the airline inquiries. I called that number, and while talking to the immigration officer the Thai Airways staff gave me the pushed the boarding pass. My first and last flight with Thai Airways.

"cabin crew were friendly and attentive"

(United States)

Verified Review | Flew from Bangkok to Singapore. Very nice flight. The cabin crew were friendly and attentive. The plane was a new A350 and I found the seat comfortable. The meal served was decent, but was not as good as Thai has served in the past. That said, it was only a 2 hour flight so the food is not important to me. Overall, I would recommend Thai Airways for their comfort and service.

"all round good flight"

Verified Review | Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok with Thai Airways. An all round good flight. Due to the short nature of the turn around, the crew were under pressure to serve a full business cabin a meal service. They managed this very well and gave everyone ample time to finish there meals. The cabin and seats are a bit dated on the Boeing 747-400 but nonetheless served there purpose.

"Thai Airways was very pleasant"

Verified Review | Thai Airways was very pleasant. Despite a very short flight from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, about an hour and 10 minutes, we flew a very new Boeing 787-9 with ample seating. "will fly with them again"

(United Kingdom)

Unverified | Chiang Mai to London Heathrow via Bangkok. Did not intend to fly with Thai Airways from Bangkok to London originally but due to a technical problem with my flight from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, we were delayed over 5 hours and I missed my original flight with Etihad. Thai Airways handled the delay very well providing us with snacks, water and blankets during our wait in Chiang Mai for a replacement aircraft. Upon arrival in Bangkok at 4am staff were already waiting for passengers with missed connections as we got off the plane. Went to the sign with my original flight on him and staff told me and other passengers that we would be taken to a hotel and flown to London on the afternoon Thai Airways flight. After a quick sleep at the hotel, we arrived back at the airport with transport provided by the airline. Check in took a while due to staff having to rebook us onto the afternoon flight but we were eventually checked in and were on our way. The flight to London was very good, seats on the Boeing 777-300ER comfortable, decent legroom. Staff were cheerful and friendly. Very surprise to get a sandwich service before landing on top of the two meal services. Drinks always being bought down the aisle by the crew. IFE could've been better but the selection was just enough. Overall, good experience with Thai Airways despite the ordeal with the delay. Will fly with them again.

"try to avoid Thai Airways"

(Germany)

Verified Review | Phuket to Frankfurt via Bangkok. The seat reservation procedure at Thai Airways is not understood, and no staff is aware or able to explain it. Before our flight from Bangkok to Frankfurt at 23:40, we checked in in Phuket at 15:30 and asked for an exit row seat or another seat by the window. It was not possible because of reasons we were not told, we were asked to check once again in Bangkok upon arrival. We did it which was still 5 hours before boarding, so not even check in counter for the flight was open, but we were told flight was full and no reservation can be done. We were asked to talk to flight manager who was supposed to be there 2 hours before boarding but ended up in last 15 minutes. All in all, despite being at airport several hours before, we could not get an exit row which should be based on certain physical restrictions. So somehow Thai Airways reserves these seats to people without seeing them! Anyway, we started our trip with this frustration. Then wrote an email to Thai airways about it but received no feedback. I will try to avoid Thai Airways for future trips to Asia. They lost a frequent flying customer.

Unverified | London to Bangkok. I was able to pre book aisle seat 1 month in advance through the on line booking service. Flight not full so able to have 2 seats which was reasonably comfortable. Dinner and drinks served about 1 hour after takeoff and the staff friendly and helpful. Cabin lights dimmed 2 hours into flight and then didn't see a lot of the crew although water was served several times during the night. Breakfast served 2 hours before landing. "staff had an appalling attitude"

(United Kingdom)

Verified Review | London Heathrow to Bangkok return. Internet booking easy but very limited seats to choose from even 11 months in advance. Second year of chaos at Heathrow Terminal 2 compulsory multi airline baggage drop. When I eventually reached the check-in desk, I asked for my bags to be checked through to the onward destination, told this was not possible as it was not with the same airline. News to me as I have done this numerous times, if airlines are codeshare or in the same alliance etc. Check in staff are not interested in giving customer service so why airlines use this facility is beyond me. Boarding chaotic, no sign, no announcement just a woman shouting who could board over a full A380 flight, resulted in every-one boarding at the same time as passengers were asking each other what was happening. Aircraft was the high standard of the A380 – good leg room, touch screen, OK recline with good menu and quality of good. Staff had an appalling attitude, they did not hide the fact that they would rather be doing other things than providing customer service on this flight

"poor value for money"

Verified Review | Bangkok to Tokyo Narita in business class was poor value for money. The lounge at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi disappointing with poor selection on of food. The Boeing 747-400 is old and the business class seats were not lie-flat, on an overnight flight it was impossible to get some sleep. The food was very bland and seemed similar to what you would get in economy class. Entertainment selection is very poor and they would not turn it on until the plane reached cruising altitude. When compared to other Asian airlines Thai is worst.

Verified Review | The new Thai Airways business cabin and service are truly outstanding. Seat excellent - I was traveling with my wife and child so we had lots of privacy (same seat layout as Emirates A380). Inflight entertainment excellent, great food, excellent wine; super clean cabin, and above all stunning service. Verified Review | Frankfurt to Krabi via Bangkok. The airline of the land of smiles disappoints. Two flight attendants on my flight to BKK were lacking refinement or dedication to customer service. Topped only to arrive with a delayed connecting flight into Krabi. Upon arrival at my final destination, I had to deal with the fact that my checked luggage was not there. It's gone missing. And the department of Lost and Found could not even locate my bag at all. Thai Airways disappointed in each and every aspect. "elderly 747-400 showing it's age"

(Australia)

Verified Review | Sydney to Bangkok. I haven't used Thai for about 4 years due to their aircraft choices and pricing. However being a return trip to Sydney from Thailand in Holiday season choices were limited. My original booking was in economy although most times I use business (Christmas holiday pricing again) but I intended to try for a paid standby upgrade at the airport for this return flight, which I was offered. To my surprise Thai Airways have now increased the upgrade cost by around 30 - 35% and is now very poor value and not recommended for anyone that may be considering it. The aircraft was an elderly 747-400 which was showing it's age. The business class seats (upstairs) were angled lie flat, very worn with faded upholstery. These are the same business seats Thai have used for close on 15 years and are way past their use by date. Considering they are flying Boeing 787's to Brisbane and the new A350 to Melbourne I cannot see why we still have this worn out 747 on Thai's most important Australian market, Sydney. The food service has improved slightly from what I can remember with the food now plated by the flight attendants before serving however they still insist on a totally French wine list where most other airlines offer some Australian or NZ wines on the route. The inflight entertainment is pretty poor with limited choices compared to competitor airlines. The screen size and clarity is also poor due to the age of the system. I will continue to avoid Thai on this route as much as possible as their business class fares are some of the most expensive on the route yet they offer what is, by far, the worst product against their competitors (both direct flights and ones with acceptable transit stopovers).

"worst travelling experience"

(United Kingdom)

Verified Review | Taipei to London via Bangkok. This is the worst travelling experience ever. Their ground staffs have been informed by TPE check in counter that there were 4 passengers on TG 635 (TPE-BKK) will miss the connecting flight (TG910) from BKK to LHR, because the first sector flight from TPE delayed for 1.5 hours. But no one in BKK airport anticipated this by booking the hotel for the passengers. When we arrived at BKK airport, the customer service said they had not booked the hotel room and airport hotel was fully booked. We were asked to wait at the counter for almost 3 hours while the staff disappeared (helping another passenger with the visa). It is midnight and everybody was very tired, but who cares. We were just sent to airlines lounge at 3am to wait for the hotel room which was just ready at 5am. We ended up staying at BKK airport for 13 hours. The whole mess created by their service made my trip so miserable.

"it's amazing cabin crew"

(India)

Verified Review | Seoul Incheon to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi via Hong Kong. Thai Airways offered much better service compared to my previous journey. The counter was big enough to take all of the passengers swiftly. However, the problem occurred after half of the check-in counter closed, in order to take Uni Air passengers. Large group of travellers were forced to go around and line up again. It was not understandable how they had 3 special checkin counters where few people used (Crew only, Internet checkin, and Business class/SA Gold card holders), and had 2 common economy class checkin counters where everybody used. After the bad start at check-in, we had to run in order to make it to the gate, as Incheon was crowded at that time. Onboard, the cabin looked very clean and new. The seat width felt little bit small for me with heavy lady seating alongside me, but seat pitch was acceptable; it felt same with other airlines in my seat. I moved my seat for the second leg of the flight, as there was an empty seat. I moved to a window side seat, and the seat width felt very nice to me. However, there is a metal box under the seat in front of you, which restricted me to stretch out both legs (which was possible in some degrees in my previous seat). Cabin staff service, I couldn't find flaw in their service. They were willing to help, and cared about passenger safety. They were there to help passengers to put up their carry on items to overhead bins, which must have been hard for them, as the flight was almost full. I am impressed with cabin crew service. In this flight, I never knew that I could stuff in 2 meals in such short time period (6:30 hours?). Their food quantity was just right, and food quality was nice. However, in both of my flight, as a passenger seating in front side cabin, I was forced to choose the meal that I did not want. Once, when I asked cabin crew if they have another meal that I could eat, they brought me business-class food for me, which was obviously very pleasing, and nice of them. I would love to give TG 5 star rating on food, but I can't, as some meal options was unavailable. IFE was quite nice; it takes a little bit of time to get used to, but once you get used to it, it will work dandily. I really liked how they had traveling information about big cities such as Bangkok, Seoul, Tokyo, and more. But their variety of Music/Movie/TV Shows could be improved in the future. Wi-Fi was available, but it was paid service. Overall, I recommend this airline because of it's amazing cabin crew, food service, and cleanliness of their aircraft.

"Food was very nice"

(India)

Verified Review | Chennai to Seoul Incheon via Bangkok. I thank the ground staff in Chennai (MAA) for giving me priority baggage tag for my "gold" Star Alliance membership status. Well, but they weren't supposed to; Asiana Club gold is equivalent to Star Alliance silver status! Also, when they were asked to put our seat together, which they told us that it is possible to do so before, they did it for us; but there was an aisle separating both of us. Boeing 77-200 uses 3-3-3 layout, and their seat width was very nice, but seat pitch felt very cramped with an IFE box under one of my foot, making me fly the whole 3:30 hr flight with my right leg folded. Food was tasty though, and flight attendants weren't bad. They were smiling, and was willing to help, but the part where they just watched at the passengers getting up shortly after landing (When seatbelt sign was on) was pretty disappointing. A330-300 was better because I could actually go to sleep. After landing at HKG, we was asked to deplane and get on a another A330, and ground crew messed up again. One TG ground crew at the gate told us to go to certain gate. We found that there was no plane at all! We then asked another ground crew (Who was working for HKG airport this time,) She told me to walk about 6 minutes to get to our plane. We had to rush to catch up to our plane, and HKG ground staff was correct. A330 to HKG to ICN felt the same. In this flight, I tried using Wi-Fi, hoping for any free internet usage, but it was paid service. Personally, their IFE was terrible for me. Despite the negatives, I saw lots of positives on this flight though. Cabin crews were very nice to me and my family, and were always there to help me. IFE's hardware of A333 was pretty impressive, or actually better than SQ's one, since TG's IFE offered touch screen! Food was very nice; one of the most delicious plane food I've ever eaten. Not the best, but not the worst either.

Verified Review | First time flying with Thai Airways and I was surprised and very happy with the service. Smooth check in at Manila Airport. I recommend doing your check in online to save time as they have a special lane for people who did online check in. Both flights were smooth and well fed. Cabin crews are friendlier and more helpful compared to other five star airlines I have flown. Soon after take off, passengers were given nuts and drinks and then a proper meal. Thai cuisine is delicious and their desserts. Pleased with the seats as they have more generous leg room and inflight entertainment was plentiful to choose from. I highly recommend Thai Airways. "the lounge was disappointing"

(Switzerland)

Verified Review | Bangkok to Zurich. The first thing I noticed was how quick the check-in and security was at the Thai counters. They have an own check-in area and security for Thai Royal Silk passengers. But the lounge was disappointing, there was a small selection and the ambience was not really nice: dark and a bit dated. The boarding on to the plane was one of the best in my opinion. In the plane the seat offered enough legroom and as soon as I settled in to my seat the crew offered me champagne along with nuts and she also hang my jacket. There was a basic and functional amenity kit, together with a cozy blanket and pillow. After takeoff food was offered, but it was a bit disappointing. The crew forgot my wine for dinner and a coffee at breakfast, at breakfast they gave me the wrong option, don't know if they forgot or not, or they ran out of the other option. After landing the deboarding was a bit of a mess, since all economy passengers ran in to Business. I would recommend to close the curtain while deboarding, so that this cannot happen. All in all it was enjoyable but I think Thai should fix this point to deliver even better.

"do not like business class in A380"

(France)

Verified Review | Bangkok to Paris. The boarding started with a delay and boarding was chaotic. The business class was fully booked and a fully booked 60 seats business class is rarely pleasant. The flight attendant in charge if the left part of business class a bit tired and didn't smile. She was not efficient and service was too slow. The guy in my right, served by an other friendly staff, ended his dinner before I had a chance to start mine. No welcome,no personnal message as they do with platinium and gold members. Upstairs in business class is a large cabin with 60 seats and a few economy at the back of upper deck. The food was acceptable, the starter was good, although the main was served in the same dishes that economy gets. Child meal was good. Wine was ok and plentiful. Films were a bit dated. For the price they were ok, half the price of Cathay Pacific. Plane at present seems to leave late every day and arrival between 15 and 30 mins late. Flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai with Thai Airways delayed both ways which apparently is very common on this flight. Business cabin is a great layout. Food and service excellent on this short flight. Lounge and cabin are alcohol free both ways! There's only a few business class options of this route maybe just one a day. Thai service is always very polite and charming, check in in BKK takes seconds in business line. Bags took a long time to appear in bkk airport. All flights were on-time or nearly on-time and the cabin service on all sectors was of a high standard, but there is room for improvement in other areas. The cabin interiors seemed a little bit tired and worn out, especially on the 777, with the seat upholster being damaged and screens out of date and not working properly. I ordered a gluten-free (GF) meal but regretted the choice, as they seemed to have also removed almost everything else from the meal in the process, only giving me a bland piece of chicken with tasteless steamed vegetables. The normal meal looked much nicer and was incidentally GF anyway (rice and Thai curry). I cancelled the GF meal for the return journey and just substituted their bread with my own GF bread. It also seems a little strange and annoying that Thailand's flag carrier does not have adequate gate access at Bangkok airport, and so all of the flights involved bussing to and from the planes, which were parked very far away. Upon arrival in Melbourne I noticed that my bag had been opened and the zips broken. I lodged a complaint at the Melbourne luggage desk and after following it up just once, they ended up sending me a brand new suitcase in time for my return journey. I was quite satisfied with this response to my complaint. Even though I had a dis-functional screen on one sector, I was mostly satisfied with the entertainment overall system. The only other issue was the seat comfort. I really think this could be improved, as there was an entertainment system processing box under the seat of the 777 and the seats on the A330 felt like I was always sliding off them. Overall it was a decent product for the price, but they could especially improve on seat and cabin quality.

Verified Review | Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok with Thai Airways. It was a pleasant experience and I've never boarded a flight I thoroughly enjoyed as this. The food was surprisingly delicious. "not happy with the experience"

(Indonesia)

Verified Review | Dubai to Jakarta via Bangkok. I had high expectations for Thai Airways in the Star Alliance group, but failed so miserably. On all four flights, the boarding time was not as printed on the boarding pass. All of them boarded at the departure time or later, and one flight was delayed because of technical reasons. I booked from Thai Airways website, and because the amount was over 10M rupiah, I had to come into the sales office in Jakarta to pay in person. Because my transit time was 18 hours, I received transport and accommodation in Bangkok, but even that I had to request and no details were given on the transportation procedures. At the Indra Regent hotel they didnt provide breakfast, despite Thai Airways saying that breakfast was on their account. When I asked Thai Airways to clarify this with the hotel, they said it's on the hotel. The entertainment system/screens were very old and dated, resolution wasn't good. The headphones jack didn't work on one side, and the magazine pocket wasn't fixed properly so the magazines kept on falling. After the meal service, picking up the trays took very long, and on one of the flights I had to call the attendants to pick mine up because they skipped me. Attendants weren't friendly. To have a blanket I needed to ask, not on every seat. Checking in at Dubai was the worst. Line was so long. Local staff had no customer service skills. I tried Thai Airways because of the price , but was not happy with the experience and probably won't recommend it to others.

"real difference is the actual aircraft you are on"

(United Kingdom)

Flew from London to Bangkok and return with Thai Airways. The economy service is on par with other four star airlines - the real difference is the actual aircraft you are on and how new it is. The A380 was really good, the 777 was older and not so good but still plenty of space and a decent TV - shame about the content. Maybe I was unlucky with timing but it was hard to find a good film, there are lots of cheap films and not much premium content. Food and drinks were good, better flying out of Bangkok than Heathrow.

"in the past it was much nicer"

(Germany)

Verified Review | Bangkok to Hanoi, Seat 16K. Check in was done in Frankfurt. The aircraft is okay, no in flight entertainment offered. The boarding is terrible for all flight to and from Vietnam as you have to ride overcrowded bus to the field where the aircraft is waiting. The biggest problem is the changing of temperature, you come from the cool terminal to the hot outside air and step into the frozen bus, and then you have to wait outside the aircraft in the hot and humid air in order to climb the aircraft which made you sweat again. It is not nice if you have to carry small children. Inside the aircraft the service is good, food is okay, in the past it was much nicer but now they save the cost and reduce the quality of food. No alcohol was offered during the short flight. Seat is okay and comfy.

"how far they have fallen"

(Australia)

Verified Review | Sydney to Bangkok. The lady who checked me in at Sydney was surly and unsmiling. The Boeing 747-400 was old and looked worn. The crew call button in my seat didn't work, and the list of movies contained not one name I recognised - just old B movies. was The crew were surly and unsmiling, and hid in the galley for most of the flight. The worst part, and something that always seems to happen on Thai flights that arrive late in the day - the plane was parked way out in the airfield, leaving passengers to climb down a set of stairs and take a very long bus ride to the terminal. Our bags were then delayed meaning that I had to wait a whole hour after the flight had landed for our bags to arrive on the carousel. I asked the ground staff why, given that Thai is the national flag carrier, aircraft that arrive in the evening are not parked at the terminal, for the convenience of their customers. All I got in response was that this was their 'process'. Thai used to be a great airline. How far they have fallen astonishes me.

"the window seats are quite flimsy"

(Germany)

Verified Review | 4/12/2016, FRA-BKK, TG921. As I arrived at the airport late due to a train delay so there were no queues. I chose seat 17A near the window since I prefer this type of seat. Now I find that the window seats are quite flimsy and connected to each other so if your front or back neighbor turns your seat also moves. So on the flight back to Germany I chose the middle seat and there was no more of this problem. I was seated close to the front and chose my preferred meal but it was not available. The stewardess seemed to forget there were also people to serve and did not ask what drink I wanted. Inflight entertainment lost sound during the flight and they promised me to send an upgrade voucher in 2 weeks time.

"seat was comfortable"

(Germany)

Verified Review | Flight date 9/12/2016, BKK-FRA, Seat 11A with Thai Airways. On this flight I seat at the front close to the closet. Seat was comfortable and does not shake like seats close to the window. The small distance to the closet does not disturb at all and is very easy to go to the toilet since you do not have to wait. The service of the stewardess on this flight was excellent and she even called me by name. The only small problem was the connection of the head phones, these are not noise cancelling and there was some disturbance in the head phone if the plug shakes.

"service not as I expected"

(Malaysia)

Verified Review | Flew Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur, and economy was almost full. We were lucky on that day as the initial 777-300 was upgraded to a newer and more comfortable Boeing 777-300er. The seats were great, but headrest felt a little cheap. The meal was the worst airline meal I've eaten. The crew said the rice was fried rice but it tasted extremely bland. The inflight service was not as I expected by way of least pleasant service from Thai Airways flight attendants.

"a very comfortable flight"

(Thailand)

Verified Review | Manila to Bangkok. I queued for about 20 mins for check-in but once at the counter, the check-in process was efficient and staff courteous and professional. Boarding did not start until very close to the departure time but it was orderly. The crew welcomed the passengers on board, offered a small pack of nuts once the seatbelt sign was off. The cabin crew change into their traditional Thai attire after take-off. The flight was probably around 60% full so there was ample space for passengers to spread out. I was initially seated in seat 62C which is the first row of 3 seaters behind 2 rows of 2 seaters so I had ample leg room ahead, As the row next to me was fully empty, I asked a cabin crew if I could move over and promptly did so when I received the go-ahead. 2 options were offered for meals and I picked the pork option. When compared with the catering coming out of Bangkok, the food from Bangkok does seems better. In the flight out of Bangkok, two gentlemen seated near me (who seem to be first time flyers) did not realise that vegetarian options had to be pre-ordered and opted to go without food. The cabin crew then went out of his way to locate non-meat options for the 2 gentlemen. The seats are comfortable with a decent recline. There is a good selection of movies and TV shows to choose which, together with the food and friendly service, makes for a very comfortable flight.

"experience did not disappoint"

(Thailand)

Verified Review | I flew from Bangkok to Manila on a Sunday afternoon. It was a busy flight that was at least 90% full. The cabin felt clean and the interior looked new. The cabin crew well presented and welcomed passengers while boarding. They are proactive in assisting passengers who had trouble find storage space for their hand luggage. It has been almost 8 years since I last flew Thai Airways and I was looking forward to fly them again. The experience did not disappoint. Two meal options were offered and I picked the meat ball with rice option which was delicious.

"very pleasant and welcoming"

(Australia)

Verified Review | Perth to Bangkok return. This is my second trip with Thai Airways Boeing 787, and what a great aircraft. In business class plenty of room, in seat huge tv seat. The seat goes back into a bed. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming, the head purser let my son and his wife into business class just before we landed in Bangkok, so thanks to him. Now on the way home back to Perth and can't wait for next trip. Also flew Thai Airways business class to the UK that was also good, and can't wait to use their A380 next time to London.

"service was just excellent"

(Belgium)

Verified Review | Phuket to Brussels via Bangkok with Thai Airways. First leg service was just excellent as on the way out from Europe aside from typical delays of coming into a congested airport like Bangkok. The Thai crew in stormy conditions managed to service everyone multiple times on a fully loaded flight, I was dreading the late night double leg flights home but my sensitive sleeping wife cat napped on the short leg and then due to a departing ahead of time settled down after a well served meal for the long haul home. She slept near 10 hours on what was bump free journey landing back ahead of time into Zaventem something never achieved with Brussels Airlines, United Airlines or British Airways night flights. This was my first Thai Airways experience but after flying with big American and European carriers this was something special with their 777-300ER out and back and with one leg of four flights on the one month old A350. It is clear this is an airline in transition with a new fleet coming in and our luck being we that we had all our flights on planes of just a couple of years old. I am now seriously tempted to fly Thai Airways to New Zealand on the next long haul as inflight entertainment and service was very good. This said three things Thai could simply fix to move in my book from Very Good to Excellent. Bringing a fully loaded 777 into a hard standing and using buses instead on to the terminal should not happen, we were lucky at end of rainy season but I dread to think what could have been if the tropical sky's had opened up. If you fly into Francophone countries you should have either copies of the film with French sound track or at least French subtitles, my Wife being French speaking Belgian was lucky to know English well. Your mild chicken is not mild, it was hotter than dishes served up in restaurants of the same this meal blew both us away and could not be consumed on one flight. This all said the crews on both legs could not do enough for us and for sure will I return to Thailand but I will also consider using Bangkok for any future South East Asia journeys.

"I have to be bussed"

(Australia)

Verified Review | London Heathrow to Bangkok return. My main concern is the number of times I have to be bussed from the terminal to the aircraft and vice versa. For Thailand's flagship airline, this is a poor practice. Not withstanding the safety issues of passengers having to disembark via steps with luggage, it is a very cheap approach to what should be a much more pleasant experience. None of the crew or ground staff have a positive response to any questioning about this practice, but it certainly seems to tick off a lot of people, unfortunately not enough people complain about it and simply accept it.

"always had great flights"

(Israel)

Melbourne to Bangkok with Thai Airways. On checking in I had to struggle to get a window seat (even though it was even more than 3 hours before departure). At the gate I tried to see if there was a better seat available and there wasn't. However when boarding I was "upgraded" to a bulkhead seat which was a great to start to a great flight. The food was very good and the crew are very happy to respond to additional requests for snacks and drinks. IFE was okay. Legroom of course was terrific and the seat was very comfortable as well. I have flown a few times with Thai over the years and have always had great flights.

"a substandard offering"

(Australia)

Verified Review | Melbourne to Ho Chi Minh via Bangkok. Thank goodness that Thai Airways are phasing out their Boeing 777-200 aircraft. 170 degree business class seats do not cut in modern business class travel. They fly their new lie flat bed aircraft on the 90 minute flights from Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh but make their premium customers on the midnight 8 hour flight between Melbourne and Bangkok suffer with a substandard offering. Movies were anything but latest releases, food average at best, business boarding gate process not adequate. Cabin service was excellent!

"Thai need to improve the catering"

(Philippines)

Verified Review | Manila to Bangkok. Delayed leaving due to late arrival of aircraft not a full flight, plenty of room. Boarding went okay but old tired aircraft, worn carpet, entertainment system old very difficult with the touchscreen. Crew friendly and professional, meal service went fast and smooth but Thai needs to improve the catering - it was terrible a dry shrimp salad a pork stew and a dry dessert - seems like they have forgotten economy class food and just given passengers something to fill up on .
