"got the run around for hours"

Trip Verified | Richmond to Denver. We got the run around for hours. Never made it to our destination. It took 14 hours to get them to finally get them to get us a return flight home. We got told several things and hand to hassle to get the right answer and help. Never again would I put my family on American.

"Never flying this airline again"

Trip Verified | Miami to Philadelphia. Took a chance on this airline even after all the issues families and friends have had. Had no trouble from PHL-MIA. Trying to fly home flight was delayed 3 times and we are still waiting for a plane. Never flying this airline again.

"service was absolutely horrible"

Not Verified | San Francisco to Phoenix. First of all, the service here was absolutely horrible. The woman checking my luggage was probably the most disrespectful person we encountered and I wish I had gotten her name to report her. Absolutely rude, completely out of line, and knows nothing about good customer service. When we got in line no one informed us of the first line we had to go through first, so after waiting in such a huge line, we were then rudely that we had to go back into the other line. They acted like it was our fault! Not only that but there were about 3 people working so you can imagine for yourself how long the line was for help on a weekend flight in San Francisco. Second, our flight was delayed before we had even gotten to the airport! We found out about it the morning of and we ourselves had to go and find a new flight! They completely expected us to miss our own flight that they were in charge of booking. Not only that it was a 3 hour delay which made us late to picking up our dog at the vet, so we had to pay for an extra night all thanks to the worst airline our family has ever flown with. 110% do not recommend!

"never fly American internationally"

Not Verified | First of all, I should state I was flying stand by. The whole way over to the airport there were 13 seats open in first class. We got to the airport and (not to mention) we were the first stand by people to check in. I guess it’s understandable we didn’t get first. Anyways, we start boarding the plane. May I add I’ve only flown Delta international never American. So, we board the plane and sit down in main cabin. I notice something weird. Huh there’s no movies screens. I shrugged it off and got my charger out. I was going to charge my phone but there weren’t any! I was kinda getting annoyed by this point cause there was already no inflight entertainment for the main cabin except using the app. But how are you supposed to do that if you don’t have chargers?! I took out the pillows and blankets. The blankets are expected to be the scratchy fabric. But the pillows shouldn’t even be called pillows! They are so flat and tiny, they provide no support. American only knows how to treat first class. We need to get what we paid for! Make our money worth it! I will never fly American internationally again.

"will never fly American again"

Not Verified | New York JFK to Dallas Ft Worth. This was the worst flight I ever took. They say to arrive at the airport 2 hours early which we did. I received an email at 3:59 that it was on time. Then I got an email at 4:59 that the flight was being delayed 5 hours. I was already checked in so that email didn’t help me. We sat in the airport for 7 hours with no explanation as to why this was happening. I will never fly American again.

Trip Verified | Orlando to Charlotte. I’m in flight AA677 supposed to leave at 5:12pm, now it is 9:20 we’re inside the plane since 7pm, and we still here at the gate. Worst airline ever, this is my second bad - I mean really bad experience with this airline

"horrible customer service"

Not Verified | Dukuth to Charlotte via Chicago. This flight was an absolute joke. Flight 583 started off with mechanical issues and 1 hour delay in Duluth. Then got to Chicago, otw to Charlotte when 25 minutes away we hover because of storms. After a 90 minute delay we are diverted to Raleigh. This is a 2.5 hour drive from Charlotte. We arrive on the tarmac and sit there from 8:20 to 9:42. When finally allowed off the plane no one updates us till 1:22am and they had no pilot to fly back to Charlotte. I was flying due to my father having a stroke to start with, this was the flight back home after seeing him. My husband could of picked me up and driven back to Charlotte in the time we never got any updates. Instead he and our children had no idea when I would be home. I am writing this as I am just now getting on the plane to Charlotte, but told my husband to wait until we actually get in the air before heading to Charlotte Airport to pick me up. They have horrible customer service, never let us know anything, and finally over 90 minute wait on the phone to talk to anyone about the flight. I would hope that everyone on this flight gets a refund because it was not worth a penny.

"do not recommend this airline"

Trip Verified | Philadelphia to Orlando. A horrible experience, after waiting so long since 9:15 pm that the flight is supposed to leave on July 28, 2019. After we left late, waiting on the runway and waiting to take off we had to return to the gate because an indication came out that something happened on the right side of the plane. We were in that period of time more than 30 minutes inside the plane mounted waiting for them to say what was going to happened, they offered nothing during the wait inside the plane not even water. They decided that we should get off because they couldn't fix the plane, that they would be providing another plane for that flight. We got off and around 12 midnight they told us that the flight was canceled. They gave us nothing no voucher to eat or hotel, and on the flight that they accommodated us to leave it was the other day July 29 at 11am all those hours around 24 hours my husband and I had to stay at the airport without sleep waiting there until the time for our flight. I do not recommend this airline at all.

"incompetent worthless company"

Trip Verified | Manaus to Washington via Miami. What a totally incompetent worthless company. Worse than spirit. Terrible booking system, terrible customer service. Poor in flight food. We overpaid for a flight to get home to DC from Manaus at the time stated on our ticket. I had some meetings scheduled, had my dog to pick up from the kennel, among other life circumstances to be taken seriously by me, but not by American Airlines. Connecting flight was a mere 10 minutes late. Bags took forever to come out onto the carousel. All this and we still arrived at security to re check our bags with 25-30 minutes left before our next flight. But nope, they told us they cant allow us to go because our bags need to be checked 45 minutes prior to the flight, so they forced us to go on standy all day long. Excuse me but we are here and the flight hasnt left yet and ive been in this situation before with other airlines and have been allowed to go through, or put on another flight with another airline, or been vouchers for food and other things. That is the LEAST that could be done given i paid money to arrive home at a given time and did everything i was supposed to do and am now effed because of other peoples incompetence. But nope they said all they can do is put me on standby and offered some chips and soda to supposedly make up for ruining my day and costing me literally hundreds of dollars. Thanks for nothing you worthless people.

"gate number changed 11 times"

Trip Verified | Dallas to Las Vegas. Our flight times and gate number changed 11 times. We were to depart at 10:28 pm, we left at 01:45 am. With so many inconveniences, it should have been a free flight. Once on board we waited another 20 minutes for a manual to be delivered, I didn’t think that I would make it home today!
