✅ Trip Verified | Worst flight of my life. This airline picks the oldest, most uncomfortable plane for a red eye flight, where comfort is the most important thing. The plane had the most uncomfortable seats with zero legroom and no entertainment unless you download the WestJet app which you needed to do on the ground. I was lucky I asked before we took off or it would have been even more miserable. The longest 5 hours of my life.

Not Verified | Westjet has been the worst air line to every fly with. Every flight I’ve ever taken with them has been delayed or canceled. No help with getting sooner flights. The people that we deal with to rebook flights were not helpful at all at Calgary airport. I do not recommend flying with this airline they have wrecked almost every trip we have ever went on.

✅ Trip Verified | Flying back home May 14th, at 0700, i was checking in, the front desk agent checked in my 2 big luggage and then asked me to fit the carry on luggage on the sample size container. One carry on luggage was ok and the other one was a little bit oversized and won't fit but only weighed 10 lbs. So i told the lady i will put it in my big luggage but she did not allow me. I was telling her that how come she's the only one doing it because the rest 8 or 9 agents are not asking the customers to fit their carry on luggage if it's the right size and their carry on luggage were way too big than mine. I told her that it's unfair to me that i need to pay extra for a 10 lb luggage just because it was a little bit bigger. But the others were way way bigger than mine. Going to Canada, i did not have any problem with my luggage.

Not Verified | I've been traveling with different airlines for over 20 years now and so far WestJet is the only one I wouldn't recommend even to my worst enemy. I was lucky enough to speak to over 10 different representatives and a supervisor regarding my issue and the total of 1 was helpful even though it didn't resolve my issue at the end. A week ago I wasn't able because their Support Line kept putting their own staff member on hold so I missed the flight. WestJet admitted it was their fault and not an "issue with documentation" so after 2 hours on the phone - they rebooked my flight for the one next week. So yesterday I go to the airport again just to hear the unprofessional guy at the check in tell me "He won't call the authorities to verify my documents because my visa is invalid". All I asked for is for him to do his job and verify my documents but that never happened. After another hour on the phone with their call center and a chat with a rude supervisor they are kind enough (sense the sarcasm) to offer me a credit to their travel bank. Well, thanks.

✅ Trip Verified | There are so many bad reviews of airlines but the airlines don’t do a thing about it. Why? This was an expensive seat. I always fly West Jet business class on short hall flights. One time when in 1st row, the attendants started taking orders for food from 4th row and worked herself down to my row - by the time she got to me there was no protein left (chicken) only pasta. Everyone had ordered the chicken. I don’t want pasta - ever - for many reasons. Certainly when you have paid so much money for a ticket, and are hungry and in 1st row, you’d be very frustrated. Next time I decided to book last row. Well - the same situation happened only she started from 1st row - unbelievable really. The flight attendants are so poor in their judgment too telling me “you know you could pre order online” putting the responsibility on me and exonerating the airline from having any responsibility for this very important part of your journey. What do we all do when we fly? - eat - sleep - have a drink - watch a movie - may be work but the airline certain does not want to be responsible for the food or lack there of. They want to make you, the passenger, be responsible. But during our busy lives, is all we think about having to online to pre order considering also you’ve paid so much money for a ticket? Then she says, “they give me just enough meals, we don’t have much choice”. Oh ok well then you are robot. How many times should this happen for you to turn around and complain to your upper management or strongly inform them this is happening? Don’t you all own shares of west jet? Don’t you want to make more money? It’s beyond me why this is happening. There is no reason that is good enough. I will not be flying this airline again.

✅ Trip Verified | As a customer based on the east coast I can tell you buyer beware if you're planning to fly WestJet from the east coast in the winter. They are terrified of having any planes stuck in the east due to weather. As a result, any forecast of inclement weather results in a cancellation. They cancelled the first leg to Toronto 20 hours in advance. No rebook, no assistance at all. I had to book a short notice flight to TO with Porter to continue my vacation plans. I submitted my out of pocket expenses to WJ but of course they denied them as the cancellation was due to "weather" Funny thing is that all other airlines continued to fly and there wasn't a snow flake in the air when we took off for TO but all WJ flights were cancelled. Using WJ in the winter from the east coast is definitely a gamble and if there are any issues, they are useless. AC is significantly better and any other airline for that matter.

✅ Trip Verified | Awful flight! The economy seats are very, very uncomfortable. The food was dreadful and the range of beverages was very limited. The wine was undrinkable! The flight attendants seemed bored, disinterested, unprofessional and poorly groomed. No desire to fly WestJet again.

✅ Trip Verified | I flew home from Mexico on April 25 on WJ254. I was very ill and the crew were concerned if I should fly. The flight was delayed as my condition was assessed but finally I was green-lighted to go. I cannot say enough about the help and concern Jonathan and his flight crew showed me during that two hours. From the hot water bottle (thanks Allie) to letting me use the forward head, I'm so grateful and appreciative to all the flight attendants who worked that flight. Thanks for all you did for me.

✅ Trip Verified | We had to cancel our trip due to a family issue. We gave 5 weeks notice and were still penalized almost half the cost of the ticket. The remaining refund will go into a "flight bank" to be used towards a future flight within the next 12 months. Given that we lost much of the value of our flight, the credit will not cover the cost so this is really not helpful. No where other than the very small fine print (that most of us do not read in full) was is mentioned that a refund would not be provided due to cancellation. 5 weeks cancellation notice and no way to recover a penny of the money spent on flights we are not going to be taking. Really disappointed this is the outcome. Shame on you Westjet. I have flown with you dozens of times but will not be flying with you again.

✅ Trip Verified | Missed my flight to the Philippines last April 12 because the WestJet front desk person and her supervisor were asking me for my original birth certificate even though is clearly states on my Canadian passport that my country of birth was the Philippines and that I can use the Philippines' "balikbayan" program which should exempt me from any visa requirements. I had to get my son to pick up my physical birth certificate from home as they (staff member and her unhelpful supervisor) refused to even look at an electronic copy of the document that my wife sent me. WestJet should retrain their staff. WestJet then caused me to miss my whole flight which I painstakingly saved for. I now had to rebook my flight which cost me close to $750. as I also reserved seats that had leg space as I had some knee problems. Tried to address this with WestJet but of course it's almost next to impossible to get in touch with anybody there. If there was a negative rating, I would have given them this in a heartbeat! No customer service at all. Just told me that I can't board and left it at that.
