"a ton of wasted time"

Not Verified | We were headed on a ski vacation for a week. Westjet lost our ski bag and we were without skis and had to rent them for the week. They finally found the bag 8 days later after we had returned home, and that was only after we were asked to call back several times to their central baggage office (each call chewing up at least 20 min with hold times). After we received the bag, we were told to call back and provide receipts for the rentals. Apparently the fine print somewhere on their website states that only 2 pairs of skis are allowed in a single bag (even though ours were well under the weight limit), so they would only reimburse us for half of the ski rental. This is ridiculous. After putting us through a ton of wasted time having to rent skis several different days, and keep calling them back, they are trying to get off on a technicality. When we asked to speak with a supervisor, the agent was very rude and said that she'd escalate it, but it would take 7-10 business days to get a call back and that we had better answer when they called or we would be waiting another week for a second call attempt. This is why people hate airlines. I will never fly them again. We had booked via Delta, and they should know that their partner really reflects poorly on them.

"service couldn't get any lower"

Not Verified | Overall, a barely passable flight. Going to Cancun is just over 5 hours while return is 7 (Although flight was 3.5 late for return which was not fun.) Small seats with little foot room. Virtually no meals to buy - chips, humus, etc. (which is fine for an hour flight but not 7 hours). They came round 2 x only with drinks and pretzels. No entertainment. Must download own movies on tablet. Overall a very "BARE BONES" service flight. Really embarrassing that this is one of our only 2 airlines in Canada. Quality of service couldn't get any lower. (Attendants were polite enough.)

"Absolutely horrible experience"

Trip Verified | I had the absolute worst experience. I’ve never flown WestJet in my life and I will never fly with them again. Absolute worst customer service. I had a flight scheduled from Moncton to Edmonton on March 10th. I was to fly from Moncton to Toronto with an hour or so window to get to my next flight from Toronto to Edmonton. They delayed my flight in Moncton by 3 hours because of weather conditions in Toronto. So, I got to Toronto they did delay the flight from Toronto to Edmonton kept delaying kept delaying waiting for us. I got there at 11:40pm and they left at 11:50pm. I was absolutely wild. I went to talk to someone from west jet and they said there isn’t anything they can do for me as it was weather related but they can book me on the next flight to Edmonton which would of been the next night at 8pm! So I spent 23 hours in Toronto airport with nowhere to sleep. I was disgusted by their lack of compassion. Finally it came time March 11th to fly out at 8pm, they delayed the flight I think it was 2 hours not totally sure why, so I was late into Edmonton again. Also, with this mix up I kept asking if my suitcase I paid for would be on my flights yes I got three answers saying it would be. I finally get into Edmonton at midnight Edmonton time. Waited 1.5 hour for my bag because there were 3 flights on one carousel to find out my bag wasn’t even on the thing! It was still in Toronto. So, they delivered it to me the next day no problem. Absolutely horrible experience. Fast forward to travelling home. I live in a small province, I land in Moncton after flying all day for them to have lost my bag again. I paid 100$ for my bags to go there and back and still nothing. I’ve now been waiting almost 2 days for them to even tell me they have my bag, and they say sometimes you have to pick up your own bag! Well nope that won’t be happening as I live 2 hours from the airport I flew into, it’s WestJet's fault not my fault! So they will be taking it to me whether they like it or not. For the amount of money people spend on these flights and the lack of compassion is utterly unacceptable. I am in aw, I’ve flown a lot in my life and this has been the worst experience of my life. Trust me, save your money and go elsewhere. They’ll never get another cent from me.

"Will not use them again"

Not Verified | I booked my flights Thru air miles. In Westjets small print it said no changes allowed. I wanted to change it for the following week. Nope. Lost all my air miles and admittedly they said they will just Re sell my seat. I asked for my $120 fees back Nope. So now they will just charge the next customer fees again. this airline is terrible. Will not use them again.

"hope WestJet realizes what an asset you are"

Trip Verified | On departure from Calgary (Mar 20), my wife and I fortunately encountered a WestJet agent, Adam, who intuitively it seemed, realized as we approached the self service check in terminals at the airport that we were candidates for personal assistance - specifically, Adam guessed correctly we wanted paper boarding passes (rather than the smart phone versions we had been forced to settle for when selecting seats on line. I have a modest disability and use a cane, leading him to take the initiative to book wheelchair service both in Calgary and on arrival in Kitchener. I had already experienced the incredibly lengthy walking distance on arrival in Calgary and did not want to have to repeat it. In the event, it proved extremely helpful in timely arrival for our flight's departure as security faced morning "rush hour" pressures. (I should add that this agents special care has helped erase our disappointment and irritation with WestJet having recently unilaterally changed our return Toronto-Halifax bookings in August which were made some time ago.) Thank you Adam!! We hope WestJet realizes what an asset you are.

"his connection was canceled"

Not Verified | I have never had a problem with westjet however my brother was supposed to fly from Vancouver to Calgary to London, ON on March 22nd. His 1st flight was delayed by one hour so he would have missed his connection. They booked him on the next available connection which was on the 24th - 2 days later! So he changed everything to the 24th. Got through the gate in Vancouver and got a text that his connection was canceled. He had to take a later flight which is going to Toronto with a 5 hour layover to London.

"unreal how terrible WestJet has become"

Not Verified | Absolutely unreal how terrible WestJet has become. We had a flight booked from Calgary to Phoenix via Edmonton on Christmas day. Our Christmas Eve flight to Edmonton is delayed 4 hours due to not having any flight attendants. Then Christmas day as we arrive at the airport they cancel the Edmonton to Phoenix flight last minute. Talk to the gate attendant and they tell us to wait for the next 48 hours for an update or call WestJet customer service (which had a one week call back time). Within an hour we get an update and it is literally the return flight on our trip a week later. Talk to the gate attendant and she said we can hang around the airport for the next few days to see if anything opens up or they can cancel our whole trip and we can find an alternative home and just to expense the bus, cab whatever we decide. I said sure lets do that. So we take Canada Bus home, fill out all the paper work for a refund and think all is good. They denied all our expenses and then 3 months later we finally get what we thought would be a full refund of our tickets. Nope they only refunded the Edmonton to Phoenix portion and said no you took the flight from Calgary to Edmonton and we do not need to refund that. Funny thing is it says right in the CTA rules for large airlines if they do not fly you to your final destination they need to provide a full refund. Basically talking to customer service at WestJet is just a person repeating you will need to talk to the CTA. What kind of customer service is that? It is basically just telling you to go away. I would highly recommend that no one uses WestJet until they turn themselves around and start to show they actually care again.

"flight attendants were awesome"

Not Verified |  We travelled From Edmonton, Alberta to Cancun, Mexico on February 22nd with 5 children under 5. The flight attendants were awesome. They came and explained how to deal with the infants on take off and landings. They where great all through the flight checking on the kids. Very happy with how the attendants interacted with the kids and made them feel comfortable.

"I am so disappointed"

Trip Verified | They mistakenly did not load my bag coming from Edmonton and say my bag will arrive today. I'm only here in L.A for 4 days and its my second day now my luggage still not here. I am so disappointed. I called one of the customer service and she literally hang up, very rude. I ask for a name and she doesn't want to give it. She ask me why would I need her name? I told her I want to know whom I'm talking to and in case I need to follow up. I was a bit frustrated knowing my bag has not arrived yet. I am usually kind and very patient but with WestJet you will lose your sanity with very irresponsible workers

"Worst flying experience ever"

Not Verified | Worst flying experience ever. Absolutely no customer care from WestJet staff. Problems started when we arrived at the Edmonton airport to check in. Agent wiped out all of our information including our WestJet ID numbers, condo address and seat selection. We had paid for exit seats that were taken away from us. She said there was nothing she could do we had to get it resolved in Calgary. We finally arrived in Calgary, 20 minute wait on the tarmac as there was already a plane at our assigned gate. Finally get off and have to rush to the opposite end, sit in luggage jail, go through security and US customs… Finally get to our gate to have the agent there tell us no she could not help us, there was absolutely nothing she could do. I was told to settle down, that I should expect theses things to happen when you travel. She the dismissed us saying please move I have to start boarding passengers. My husband and I were now on a 5.5 hr flight sitting in different rows ( rows 15 and 21) and bot in the exit row that we had paid for. On arrival in Orlando we called WestJet and the agent was great she did reimburse us and reassign our exit seats for our return trip. But this experience was horrendous, there was no accountability or apology from WestJet, totally ignored.
