"may have enough space to stretch your legs"

(United States)

Not Verified | We paid $92 USD for extra legroom, which granted us barely more than the cheapest seats on Delta airlines. As long as you place backpacks and other under seat items in the overhead bins, you may have enough space to stretch your legs straight forward in front of you. The seats are nearly wide enough for a person wearing a US man's medium to fit, barely. They're hard, like folding wooden chairs, with little padding and forcing you to sit at an angle that pinches the sciatic nerve, even when reclined. When the person in front of you reclines, the TV is extremely close to your eyes and there's no room to get up at all. The aisles are so skinny, walking up and down them for relief is not an option, unless you walk sideways. The staff bump the carts along all of the seats up and down the aisles, so you have to sit with your arms crossed and shoulders pulled in, which causes pain in the back and neck.

"The worst business class seats"

(United States)

Not Verified | The worst business class seats we have experienced among the ones we have flown so far (UA, AA, ITA, AF, BA and KLM). Congested cabin, a 2-2-1 and 2-1-2 layout. Cramped 5 seats in a row where everyone else in their aircraft class has 4 seats! Seats are narrow, uncomfortable and the couple's seat by the window lack ANY work space area and minimal storage. The dining tray is a primitive design of a pullout from the small divider between the seats. The shoulder belt cuts right into your neck as 2 FA's admitted to this defective design! There is zero privacy on the isle seats.

"the seats were so narrow"

(United States)

Trip Verified | I flew from LAX to Zurich and back to LAX with Swiss airlines. On both flights the seats were so narrow that when I saw my middle seat on the outbound flight I was thinking whether I'll fit in that space. And I'm not a big guy by any means (5':10" = 178cm tall, 155lb=70Kg). On the return flight I paid 44Euros and got an isle seat but when I boarded I saw an overweight lady sitting in the adjacent seat and the arm-rest was not coming down! Thanks got her husband was elsewhere and we changed seats. The overhead luggage space is so narrow that you should put your carry-on sideways. Their planes are not really suitable for long distances. As for the on-flight entertainment system, It was showing advertisements and you where not given option to watch a movie or something until one hour into flight. Their food and beverage service was OK like any other reasonable airline.

"reminds me of a budget airline"

(United States)

Trip Verified | Swiss reminds me of a budget airline, similar to the European low cost carriers. Very narrow seats with very little leg space, maybe 28-29 inches. If you are over 6 feet tall, good luck. Every US domestic airline provides more leg space than our friends from Switzerland. A 3-4-3 seat configuration on a Boeing 777 says it all. I will definitely avoid them for international travel.

"extremely claustrophobic and uncomfortable"

(United States)

Trip Verified | On both my Boeing 777 and Airbus Swiss Air flights, the seats in front of me reclined so far the entertainment screen was inches from my face. It was extremely claustrophobic and uncomfortable. I've flown on at least a dozen airlines and have never seen seats recline so far. I loved everything else about the airline but would not fly them again for this reason alone. I'm short so I can't imagine how bad it is for tall people.

"Cramped into an economy seat"

(United States)

Trip Verified | Cramped into an A330-300 economy seat. Knees were pressed hard into the seat row in front of me. Seat row pair in front of me was installed crooked (as in improperly). When the passengers in front of us reclined fully, the IFE screen was 6” from my face and the headphone jacks didn’t work. Armrests didn’t go up, so in an emergency, I could have been trapped as there was no room to get out of the seat unless I woke up the passenger in front of me and made them put their seat up. Hands down the worst trans-Atlantic crossing I’ve ever made. Avoid this airline.

"seating was very crammed"

(Thailand)

Trip Verified | The experience was terrible and disappointing. I am 1,83 m tall and slim. The seating was very crammed and extremely uncomfortable. My kneecaps were touching the seat in front of me. My shoulders were touching my neighbor. There was no way to reach a comfortable position. The seat recline was damaged also because of a broken button. When the person in front of me reclined his seat it was not possible to use inflight entertainment because it was right in front of my face. There were only two food options. Chicken or noodles. Strange and very limited choice. Chicken was out. No apologies from the crew. No condiments [tomato or chilly sauce]. There were no noteworthy snacks. The in-flight entertainment selection of films and movies was limited. A lot of movies/films were not offered in English. The quality of earphones was low. No earplugs offered.

"The seats are very old"

(United Kingdom)

Trip Verified | The service was great. I could change my meal option without a problem on the phone, although I booked through a third-party website. Also on-board the staff was friendly and service was great. The problem starts with the plane: the A340 seats are very old and were updated with an entertainment system. In reclined position you can hardly see the screen and have to change into an uncomfortable position if you want to use the entertainment system. If you want to work, however, the situation is worse. When the person in front of you reclines her seat, you cannot even fit a laptop between you and the seat in front of you, let alone placing it on the tray table so you can actually work. This leaves you with the option to sleep. However, this is also not possible as the seats are incredibly uncomfortable for a long distance flight. So finally you are left with reading a book, if you brought one, which means disturbing the other passengers with your reading light. If you are of a rather less antisocial nature you are left with staring at the ceiling for 12 hours. The complete lack of comfort in economy also has an impact on the situation on board: people will start walking around, when the person behind you or in front of you moves they will automatically hit your seat and wake you up if you have managed to fall asleep in the first place. I was woken up five times. Conclusion If you can avoid it do not fly long distance with Swiss. For the short distance, i.e. within Europe, it is great: Like Ryanair in terms of comfort, but with much better service (which comes at a price).

"Extremely narrow seat"

(Hong Kong)

Trip Verified | Extremely narrow seat on the Boeing 777-300ER even for a slim Asian person, my body had to stay in one position for 12 hours. Nice legroom for emergency row, but can't say the same for regular seats.

"flat and quite comfortable"

(Belgium)

Trip Verified | Comfortable, if a little narrow seats that lie completely flat and are quite comfortable. They are fairly modern, with good recline/massage controls. My wife and I both slept well in them. USB and power is supplied (albeit difficult to find), with plenty of storage space.
