"everywhere is extremely noisy"

(Thailand)

Trip Verified | I flew from Manila to Bangkok via Philippine Airlines. Terminal 2 is extremely stressful. Boarding gate is horribly packed where seats densely arranged. I was seated near Gate 1 and announcement for Gate 9 was in full blast. Announcements are endless and can be heard in the entire boarding area. Unlike other airports in Southeast Asia, there is no quiet zone in Terminal 2 where one can rest, read a book or do work. Everywhere is extremely noisy.

"passenger services are inadequate"

(Philippines)

Verified Review | Manila Airport Terminal 2 is used exclusively by Philippine Airlines. I have been using this terminal almost every month and sad to say there are no improvements. Passenger services are inadequate and in poor condition. Terminal can be very crowded where passengers are squeezed into such a cramp pre-boarding area while waiting for the flight. Forget the food choices, all are substandard except for the only cafe with average food - Cafe France. Seats are so uncomfortable. Pity are the passengers using this terminal.

"A poor airport"

(United Kingdom)

Verified Review | MNL T2 is a terminal of contrasts. Departure (at least the check in / immigration / security) is usually quick and efficient. Arrivals are normally slow and inefficient. I always check in early and have a lengthy wait in the dismal departures area with uncomfortable seating, barely functioning air conditioning and no decent food / drink choices. Arrivals are usually a lengthy wait at Immigration followed by an even longer wait in the baggage hall. If I get to the taxi rank within 1.5 hours of arrival I consider I've done well and a further 20 minutes wait for a metered taxi is about as good as it gets. A poor airport.

"airport is lacking in facilities"

(Canada)

Not Verified | Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 is too small to handle International and domestic flight, its like a domestic terminal and is used for international flights as well. There are a few food stalls and chairs to sit inside the pre departure area waiting for flights, some waiting passengers can be seen sitting on the floor. For me this airport is lacking in facilities such as washrooms/restrooms/comfort rooms. Air-conditioning systems are not enough to really cool down the temperature inside.

"transit a bad experience"

(United States)

Not Verified | Every time I transit through this airport I have a bad experience with how the process goes. One time you go through immigration and another time you don’t. And when you go through immigration. One person will tell you to one thing, you go do that to have another person say go back, to have another person at the same counter tell you something different again. All the confusion and miscommunication causes people to miss their flights. This is by far the worst international airport I’ve traveled through. I would advise if anyone can avoid coming through Manila International Airport. And the WiFi is not good. If you want a little bit of WiFi you have to pay for it to get on another server through a pocket WiFi that’s at a small desk. You don’t get a pocket WiFi, they just put in the password.

Manila Airport customer review

(Canada)

Arrived and departed through terminal 2 from Toronto. Security staff appear to be using antiquated equipment to scan baggage. Security zones frequently maintained by ropes and easy to breach. We flew on an international flight and the stewardess at the gate didn't check our ID or even match our ticket to a database. A passenger deplaned our flight before departure because of illness and no one checked for carry on items that might have been left on the flight. Disorganized and understaffed.

Flew out of NAIA Terminal 1 last March 7 2014 to Singapore and half of the terminal is under construction. There is an ongoing construction in the middle of the Check-in counter which makes the area crowded. Half of the immigration counters are open (approximately 10 are open and more younger personnel are visible). Snack bar and some shops are closed for renovation so there are fewer seats. Flight info display are not currently working. All toilets are renovated and are now dignified. Return to NAIA Terminal 1 last March 10 Arrival hall is a sad story (It's dark and only few light bulbs are working). Immigration is a breeze they added many counters. Will avoid Terminal 1 until December 2014. January 2015 is the finish month of renovations and repair at NAIA. BTW you can bring food inside the terminal to avoid the horrible food choices at NAIA T1 (just put it in a sealed bag / container). Never pay for anything else in NAIA aside from Terminal Fee (P550) and Travel Tax (P1620 for Filipinos). Flew out of NAIA at around 6am.

NAIA Terminal 1 is well-known for long and crawling queues everywhere from entering the Terminal to check- in to paying terminal fees to immigration and to final security check. The most appalling experience is queuing for a little over an hour just to clear immigration at 5.30 am. I arrived at 4.30 am at the airport to catch a 7 am flight. Good thing I was able to do Internet check so I was spared from the long queue at the check-in counter. I was able to reach boarding area at 6.00 am. For first time users make sure that whenever you fly from Terminal 1 do Internet check-in and arrive at least 3 hours before your flight to spare you from the hassles.

Been through NAIA-3 most months this year. Arrivals is fine with rarely more than a 10 minute wait provided you're close to the front of the plane. (Always preferable when flying into MNL). Bags on the belt quickly and minimal queuing for Taxis. They used to check Bag Tags on exiting Arrivals but that seems to have stopped. Off the plane and into the taxi within 30 minutes. (Couldn't do that in NAIA-1). Departures is pretty well organised with a quick security check prior to entering the terminal. Cebu Pacific usually open 3 hrs before the Flight Departure Time but you can check in at one of the desks earlier provided you don't have bags. With only a few airlines using Terminal 3 Airport Tax Immigration and Security are quick and efficient 15 mins maximum. Food and Drinks places both Lanside and Airside are disappointing and quite expensive. Both the eating places and Duty Free seem to have a temporary feel to them - like they're going somewhere else once the terminal opens up to other airlines. Smoking Room Airside plenty Toilets and comfortable seating at the gate makes NAIA- 3 by far the best MNL Terminal. It works reasonably well and it affects my choice of airline.

"all rather depressing"

(United Kingdom)

I have been flying in and out of the Philippines for the last two years and I always prefer flying out of Terminal 3 at NAIA simply because it means I don't have to sit in traffic for another hour going to Terminals 1 or 2. Whoever designed the road network to the terminals at this airport was not blessed with foresight. However on the last occasion I used NAIA T3 I finally realised that even that terminal is nowhere near an enjoyable experience any longer. I know the Philippines doesn't really understand the benefits of railways but I wonder why no one appears to have thought about a simple train link from the airport to the city as that sort of thing seems to work well in 90% of the world. Having arrived at NAIA after the usual attempt by the taxi driver to extort more money out of me for the fare I then had to take part in the "fall in line" games. First of all you have to wait in line outside the terminal for what would appear to be a completely pointless screening of all baggage to enter the terminal. I say pointless because everyone just throws all their bags and boxes on the belt as quick as they can, all piled up, so the staff doing the screening can't possibly see everything that is coming into the terminal in the first place. But you can jump the queue - for a fee. Check in takes ages because everyone seems to have more baggage than they are officially allowed and hand baggage seems to cover anything which doesn't require a forklift. Having negotiated the check in you proceed to immigration and security. Thankfully the Philippines has finally come into the 21st century and done away with the need to pay departure tax in cash at the airport since last year, and also the requirement for non Philippine nationals to fill out departure cards - which used to come with insufficient space to give the details required anyway. Length of lines at both checkpoints varies on time of day but on average takes longer than at other airports in the region. There are probably around a dozen stores in the departure lounge all selling exactly the same things ie. banana chips and polveron sweets. And a few food options which are hardly on the level of the average shopping mall food court. There is also a basic smoking room which you can use so long as you buy something from the overpriced bar. I think they have free wi-fi but i've never been able to connect to it. All rather depressing.
