"deplorable and immoral income"

On the face of it, Liverpool is an accessible and friendly airport with mainly motivated and helpful staff. The food quality is somewhat questionable at certain retail establishments with slow service (this on a quiet weekday morning) - most food I give below average reviews to. As a must to avoid though, I would urge motorists driving into the airport to not stop for any reason in the entrance roads for any length of time however short (even seconds on the clock, in fact). For masquerading as a security measure, there is a camera van which will post off an instant fine to such a hapless driver doing this. Whilst on the flight and at the lounge I spoke to three passengers who had encountered this, one of whom stopped for less than one minute to ask directions whilst the other stopped just to read the sign. A week later after returning from which was probably an enjoyable holiday, all were posted bullying notices from 'Vehicle Control Services' of Sheffield to either pay immediately £60, or else pay a further fee of £100 after two weeks. To say that these camera van actions are predatory is about right; it seems as though the airport are doing this with the full connivance of VCS in order to generate a deplorable and immoral income. Please be aware of these parasites.

"security was so rude"

I arrived in liverpool on Friday with my friends, travelling in we had no problems. We came home yesterday and the staff on security was so rude, his line barely moved he was too busy getting people to buy a different liquid bag even though they already had one. And all their liquid still fit in 'regulation' one. Bare in mind we had just travelled in on Friday with the same bags. It was as though he was having a bad day and every customer was going to feel it. I would rate security customer service as a zero and based on that, simple manners would be nice. It was a waste of time transferring all liquids over as it was still the same amound of stuff and as an added insult to being forced to use a different clear plastic bag you had to to pay for them. I am a regular traveller and have travelled to Liverpool on many occasions and have never experienced such rudeness. My advice to anyone choose an alternative airpory even if it costs more.

Liverpool Airport customer review

Verified Review | I have to say that I do not recognise the Liverpool Airport described in some of the very negative reviews. My wife and I have flown out of and back into Liverpool four times this year and each transit has been as easy and trouble-free as the others. Whether departing early morning or mid-afternoon, we have passed through security quickly, finding the staff both efficient and friendly. Like any airport it can seem rather like a shopping mall with flights attached but we always manage to find somewhere to sit while we wait for our gate to be announced. If two flights land one after the other, there can be a holdup at passport control, but we've never encountered the kind of queues often reported at larger airports. On our last return there a week ago, it took us just 20 minutes from landing to exiting from the i-park. We were back home in North Shropshire in the time it could have taken us simply to retrieve our car at Manchester Airport. As long as Liverpool does not expand too much it will always be our first choice of departure airport.

"an easy to use airport"

I found it an easy to use airport, efficent security and friendly staff. It's close to downtown so easy to get to and is compact so quick to get throught. More facilities and connections would be would be good but it does what's needed well. I prefer it to other UK airports.

"the worst airport I've ever visited"

Absolutely ridiculous airport. Staff were so rude and did not even attempt to help passengers. I was made get out of an extremely long queue to go and buy a liquids bag (which I already had) when they had bags available under the counter. Wifi services were shocking. Definitely the worst airport I've ever visited and I am a very experienced traveller. 1/10 is being generous. They should be ashamed, wouldn't recommend.

"I was pleasantly surprised"

This is the first time I have travelled from this airport and I was pleasantly surprised. Hassle free, stress free. Everything was close together so we didn't have to walk far. We had breakfast in Frankie and Bennys at 5.30 in the morning. All the staff were very pleasant, welcoming and happy. They went out of their way to make it a good experience. Airport and toilets were clean. We only waited a couple of minutes for boarding. This is now my favourite airport.

"have never experienced anything as bad"

This morning I flew into Liverpool from Krakow after a short break. The departure lounge and catering facilities were excellent but after arriving back my wife and I decided to have sandwich and a drink at Starbucks at arrivals. The facility was dirty with some chairs that looked as if they had been knocked together by a DIY person. The whole facility was dingy poorly lit, in no way matched the departure area, and resembled a cheap back street café. The microwaved sandwich had the consistency of a rubber tyre and was inedible, the coffee was lukewarm and the put your own milk in jug was empty. Complaining would not have improved matters so we gave up and went home I have never experienced anything as bad as this in any other airport.

"pay more to use a different airport"

The public areas of the airport looked run down and filthy. The check-in agents (for a Vuelling flight) were rude and disinterested. I was surprised to find that on-line check in is not available at Liverpool and even though I had reserved and paid extra for a Priority Seat, I had to stand in line for almost an hour to check in. In the security area, they charge £1.00 for 4 clear plastic bags whiuch I have never see anywhere else. I would pay more to use a different airport.

"nice small airport"

Nice small airport. No queues through passport control. Staff friendly and helpful apart from the really unhelpful guy on the information desk. We made enquiries regarding the temporary luggage hold as we were travelling with 4 small children and 6 bags. He had a very bad attitude and clearly was not interested in helping us. While travelling through the airport 10 days later we encountered the same unhelpful manner from him. In my opinion, he is not the right person to have on an information desk. Apart from this, I would definitely travel through the airport again.

"another easy trip through Liverpool"

Another easy trip through Liverpool. Having read some earlier negative reports, I took particular note of the experience and have to say I did not believe I was visiting the same airport. To begin, the approach road is clearly marked "No Stopping, £100 fine" complete with double red lines and the drop off / various car park directions are clear for all to see. The check in / bag drop area is spacious and bright and though there was quite a queue for our flight we were through in in about 10 minutes. Security was busy, though the early morning rush was over, but again we were processed efficiently and the staff were very helpful. Give them a smile and you'll get one back and they are clearly making an effort to be customer friendly. The departure area has been improved and is less cluttered with views of the tarmac and runway. The shabby 08 carpeting has largely been replaced with bright "stone" flooring. Likewise the toilets have been upgraded and could almost be described as "designer" The gate areas though are still a bit portakabin like, though as one need spend little time there, that should not be an issue. On return we were through passport checks in a very short time, 4 booths were open and our staff member was the friendliest I have ever encountered anywhere. All in all my airport of choice, though I wish it offered more destinations.
