"less crowds, less queuing and easy access"

Trip Verified | Myself and family travel via Liverpool Airport two to three times a year. It remains our first choice since we began using it ten years ago where previously we tended to travel via Manchester. Liverpool is smaller than most international airports but this has it's benefits, less crowds, less queuing and easy access. The staff throughout the airport are friendly and ready to help. The signage is easy to read and well proportioned. Lifts are available. Liverpool recognises the Sunflower scheme. Our experience has been, security is strict, but quick and friendly to get through. Prices are typical airport prices (£1.99 for a small bottle of water) reasonable I suppose when considering the ridiculous prices airports are allowed to charge where ever you go.. I can only presume it is down to airport owners and the high rents they charge? The only shops I ever see that are really busy are the food, beverage and drinks outlets. Again our experience has been food is fresh and well prepared. The one downside are probably the toilet facilities, a bit smelly, and like most airports today no free drop off zone. Why airports, in the name of security, are allowed to charge astronomical prices for parking I have never understood? Captive audience I suppose. All in all I would give Liverpool Airport 9 stars out of 10. Freshen up the loos, be the first actually run an airport for the passengers benefit in pricing and parking and you get a 10.

"it is always our first choice"

Not Verified | It's a long while since I have posted a review here, but I have not changed my opinion of Liverpool Airport: for my wife and myself it is always our first choice. It is never crowded, we know our way around and we have never had a negative experience when passing through. About three years ago we had to switch to Manchester Airport when our flight was cancelled and we hated the crowds, the queues and the struggle for seats. In comparison, passing through Liverpool is a doddle. We've never had any problem at security which is light and airy compared with the claustrophobic equivalent at Manchester. It helps that we travel hand baggage only, so we can bypass the queues to hand in hold bags and don't have to wait at baggage reclaim on the way back. We're not interested in buying food and drink prior to our flight and we know that even if we are delayed en route to the airport we'll still progress through the airport to the boarding gate with time to spare. Passport control can be a bottleneck on return, but even that seems to have been speeded up in the last year or so. As long as it does not over-expand in terms of flights, we will be content to use Liverpool Airport for as long as we continue to fly.

"one of the worst airports"

Trip Verified | Upon arrival at Liverpool Airport it was just a disaster the moment we sat foot on the tarmac in the pouring rain. The young lady with the Swissport vest organising our movement was completely out of her depth. We were told to wait in the rain for 15 to 20 minutes before we were moved to what I can only describe as the luggage train area. Once there we were told to move here there and everywhere while the polite baggage handlers drove their luggage carts in between us all. At one stage a young man arrived wearing a health and safety vest and showed no initiative in any way, so he seemed completely pointless in holding this position. Another time elapsed as the passengers could not enter the building for whatever reason. Once in the arrival building all baggage carousels were stopped and it seemed everyone for themselves to wonder around when we found our luggage at an area where they had just been thrown about on the floor and belt that was not on. It was a complete fiasco and the staff need to be trained properly and professionally and to be informed that if they do not want to be in the position of employment then they need to be told to seek employment elsewhere. They were extremely unprofessional and extremely poorly trained for the positions they hold. I will fly and arrive at an alternate airport in the future. In my employment I have been in and out of airports all over the world and due to the serious lack of knowledge and professional of the staff at this particular airport I would rate this ‘international airport’ as one of the worst airports I have experienced.

"Give it a wide berth at all costs, travellers"

Not Verified | My review is that the service at this airport is the worst I’ve encountered for a long time. I would not recommend it to any traveller wishing to get home. It took more than one hour to provide baggage at 2 am with only 100 passengers in the whole terminal. Give it a wide berth at all costs, travellers.

"the worst airport signage that I have ever seen"

Not Verified | This place has quite the worst airport signage that I have ever seen at a so-called International Airport. I went to Liverpool John Lennon Airport to pick up some friends arriving from Spain. The signage was so bad at the airport terminal, that they went the wrong way and took 43 minutes to find me. The free parking time was 40 minutes. Ka-ching! Eight pounds straight off the mark for being three minutes late, entirely due to the lack of your damned signage (a sign saying Drop-off 2 this way and another sign at the car park saying Drop-off 2 is all that it would have required, with the same for the other car-parks). If you want to drive into the airport, the signs are adequate (I wouldn't say they gave drivers much warning of the turns) but if you actually want to arrive to meet someone, particularly if you've never been their before, the place is dreadful. Of course, you can always open your wallet and say after me "Help Yourself" and pay the extortionate charges to drop people off, but then airports have always been completely immoral in the extent of their charges. Needless to say, we didn't stop for coffee!

"The terminal doesn’t feel very clean"

Trip Verified | PROS: A good airport with easy parking. No queues as I wasn’t checking in a bag. Good selection at Aspire Lounge. No security queues. Simple. CONS: Delayed flight - which led to queuing in the gate holding area with no seats. The terminal doesn’t feel very clean - however it is ok. There weren’t many shops open, despite no restrictions from the pandemic.

"security should get fired"

Trip Verified | The airport itself is ok but security should get fired, because of inhuman manners and rudeness. My liquid bag was ok, I have less than 1000 ml but apparently lady started shouting on me that my bag is too big, and she will throw everything. I started to argue with her, that most UK airports let me with that bag but she was still rude, dropping all bottles and etc. Then she started to argue with her colleague. The gentleman tried to help me, thanks to him and she was shouting on everyone. A couple missed a flight because of her manners. If you could not work with people, I am sorry, that is not your job.

"All in all a bad experience but gets you from A-B"

Not Verified | Arrival - had to wait an hour for our bags...no announcement about what’s going on, cramped in a small room with other people - not covid safe yet get hassle of you take a mask off. Departure - security disgusting. Waited 20 minutes in a queue to then be waved to go over to a different queue, then questioned with the woman who sighed and waved back into the original queue where the people behind had now passed through. Then charging £1 for a bag...I had one small lip balm and was told I could not just put it in the tray without a bag. So rude and arrogant, told me I can buy a bag so which I said I don’t have cash. Then she sent me on a walk to a cash point to get cash out to buy a plastic bag for a lip balm...talk about taking your job seriously. Mixed rules about shoes on and off, I guess the women decided to pick on me more and made me take my shoes off even tho no one else had to. Had the mask off to have a quick drink and was rudely told to “put your mask on properly”. All in all a bad experience but gets you from A-B. Staff just need to relax.

"I personally think its a good airport to use"

Not Verified | Only problem I came across was at passport control, just the one guy who would just hold his hand out kept looking forward if next passenger didn’t look in his direction no one would know he was free, all other passport control officers let people know by just simply saying next, thought this was rude and ignorant of the officer. Apart from that I personally think its a good airport to use.
