"Crowded and chaotic"

Trip Verified | Crowded and chaotic airport, the check-in area for TAP was so chaotic that it was impossible to know where to queue. The signs to reach the check in desks are very poorly indicated, and I had to ask 3 airport staff before being indicated the right direction. The area after security has very little sitting area. While waiting at the gate, people had to sit on the window sill. The wi-fi was not working.

Not Verified | Very disappointed on how an issue - which is the airport's fault - is being handled! I was travelling from Lisbon to Funchal on TAP Air. I put my sunglasses in the security tray with my other belongings and they got stuck in the machine due to x-rays and were completely broken/scratched when they came out. Now reason why I am contacting is that I filled in the complaint form and the airport confirmed that they will handle. Since that I haven’t received a response to any of my emails – and they don’t have a phone number to contact on. As per confirmation of the security officers, I should expect a full refund due to airport security issue. So far it's been a really disappointing handling procedure as this should have been sorted out by now but no answers or updates have been given to me. Now by taking this here I'm hoping to receive a feedback from them and start taking action on the matter.

Trip Verified | The beauty of the airport is undeniable but the disgusting schedules and delays are also daily in accordance to the frequent flyers. The gate number is announced 50 min before departure (!), and you should "shlep" to the end of the airport very quickly. When the plane arrives, the boarding starts with a delay for unknown reason, so, obviously the plane cannot fit the scheduled departures in turn, and therefore the passengers have to wait inside the plane. We have been waiting for more than 1.5 hrs inside the fully booked plane with tiny seats. I am 5'7", but my knees have barely fit to the space. Bottom line: if someone should meet you at the arrival, avoid any transfer!

"has a ridiculous policy"

Not Verified | This airport has a ridiculous policy of not making announcements outside the immediate vicinity of the boarding gate. I was on a flight which was delayed indefinitely as informed by the ground staff. As a result I stepped away from the gate to grab some refreshments (not knowing the announcement rule). In that time the boarding was completed and the gate was closed. Much busier airports around the world make announcements terminal wide. This is critical especially in corcumstances of a delayed flight as it is unreasonable to expect people to sit at the gate indefinitely. This experience at Lisbon airport has ruined an otherwise good time in Lisbon!

"too small and cramped"

Trip Verified | Terminal 2 was the worst airport experience I've had in years. It's a warehouse structure with absolutely no seating. None. There was one cafe with about 20 seats for the whole place. Queuing for the flights was unbelievably slow and the whole airless room was taken up by the winding queue to check in for flights. Once inside the security gates it was slightly better but not enough seats for the people waiting, too small and cramped, airless and uncomfortable. Lisbon is a fantastic city but don't fly out of it through Terminal 2.

"most horrible airport"

Trip Verified | Most horrible airport I’ve ever travelled from. Departure area is cramped and disgusting and looks like an old factory, security is ineffective and tedious and you don’t get gate information until 35 minutes before departure. Flight late because of issues at airport. Generally a horrible airport (at least terminal 2 which I travelled from).

"Not enough seating areas"

Trip Verified | Absolutely dreadful terminal 2 at Lisbon airport. Not enough seating areas, people sitting on the floor everywhere. People fighting for tables. Unbelievably bad. Avoid using this terminal at all costs I would say. Terminal 1 is actually fine so chose an airline who flies to this one instead if possible.

"Terminal 2 is a dreadful place"

Not Verified | Using Easyjet, so arrival at T2 (exclusively the domain of the low-cost carriers) and bussed to T1. Efficient processing through immigration and baggage reclaim, very little delay. T1 is fine - clean, plenty of choices to eat, and pleasant ‘can I help you’ staff dotted around to answer questions from the likes of me. Away onto the Metro and the main line trains and Hello Portugal. Now, a week later - departing, Terminal 2 is a dreadful place. It makes Luton (my local) seem almost humane. I understand that low-cost is just that, but it wouldn’t take much to improve the feel of the shed that is T2. Others have run through the issues, and they’re right, so no need to repeat them. Perhaps to a degree ‘low-cost’ is a victim of its own success; so enjoy Portugal as it’s a great place and the people are very welcoming, but if you’re using LIS T2 prepare yourselves by reading the reviews. I’ve recommended the airport, as overall it’s fine, but just watch out for T2!

"I'd be happy to use LIS T1 again"

Trip Verified | Lisbon Airport Terminal 1. Arrival: No airbridge available. Parked on remote stand. 2 buses immediately available for 5-10 minute transfer to terminal 1. Signage fine. Short walk to Portuguese border. Toilets mid-afternoon were OK. Used e-border about 50% of which were switched on. Short queues and all of us recognised fine by e-border. 3 out of 4 bags awaiting at baggage reclaim. Long wait for 4th to turn up. Departure terminal 1: Lots of building work going on so signage wasn't always clear. Pre-security toilets were fine having just been cleaned. Bag tag and bag drop queues both short and manned by pleasant staff. Security queues were moving steadily and staffed by pleasant staff. Water machine immediately after security (€1/bottle so pretty good for an airport). The usual walk through 'duty free'. Not a lot of seating post 'duty free'. There is however a lot of seating around the food court area. Food and drink prices were reasonable by airport standards. Toilets were OK mid-afternoon. Once your gate appears on the info display, a longish walk to Portuguese border control. We used the e-borders about 50% of which were turned on and with short queues. All worked fine. Another longish walk to gate. Airbridge available. Seating was limited. Toilets at gate were fine. Gate staff were all pleasant. I've got no major complaints about Lisbon T1 and I'd be happy to use LIS T1 again.

"an absolute shambles of an airport"

Trip Verified | What an absolute shambles of an airport. I arrived at terminal two and the cattle market began as soon as we entered, the queues were as big as the piles of rubbish in both the public areas and the toilets. The whole place needs a clean from top to bottom, finding a seat is near impossible and the floors are too dirty to sit on even if you could find leg room. I'm leaving this airport with resonating feelings of chaos, annoyance, a sore wallet and full body sweat patches. Lisbon you were amazing again but I'll drive next time.
