"This is a disgrace and simply should not be allowed"

Trip Verified | Immigration is a joke. Arrived at approx 4pm and had a 2 hour line to get through immigration. At one point I would say 2000 people are waiting to be seen by 5 officers. This is a disgrace and simply should not be allowed. 2.5 hours of shuffling along , what happened to Covid?

"2 hours 55 mins to get through passport control"

Trip Verified | We waited for 2 hours 55 mins to get through passport control. We arrived at 11.05am from Stansted, UK. Immigration control only had 4 people working - the hall was completely full - no water, no assistance for the elderly or people with babies. Disgraceful and apparently it happens all the time. Someone needs to do deal with this.

"Appalling experience"

Not Verified | Appalling experience. The queue for passports control running over 1.5 hours already. It’s almost as long as flight. Shoddy experience for UK or British passport holders.

"Worst airport I have used"

Trip Verified | I arrived and departed from this airport. On arrival the queue was so long with two passport checkers attending to the line. Both miserable with no manners. The departure was similar. Worst airport I have used.

"Avoid like the plague"

Not Verified | Avoid like the plague. We ended up missing our flight because of shambolic passport control and the rudest and most unhelpful staff ever. If you fly to a non Schengen country, there is passport control between security and your gate. At most airports, this is simply a case of showing your passport which takes a few minutes at most. Here it is an utter shambles. We joined the queue for the e-passport gates only for our passports not to be recognised. Fine, it happens, so, like at most airports, there should be a backup officer to process it manually. Not here. Instead we were sent to the back of a huge queue by the rudest people imaginable. An hour later, we arrived at the gate only for the plane to have, understandably, left. The signs in the departure lounge helpfully informed us that the gate was 17 minutes away. Advice for the security staff at the airport: go and get a job as far away from human beings as possible.

"try and monitor the taxi companies"

Not Verified | My issue is not directly with Lisbon Airport which I found to be efficient, clean and airport staff courteous and friendly but with the taxis servicing outside the airport doors both myself and my husband had the misfortune to take a taxi from the airport for a short journey to our hotel and was charged 37.35 Euro and not knowing we were being ripped off we gave him 40 euros for a trip that we now know should only have cost 12 -15 euros. We want to highlight this to hopefully prevent other travellers from having the same experience and ask that Lisbon Airport authorities try and monitor the taxi companies providing transfers to customers of Lisbon Airport. We never did or ever will use another taxi in Portugal which spoils it for other honest taxi drivers

"Lisbon airport needs closure"

Trip Verified | There's no good reason why passengers with a low cost ticket be discriminated against traditional airline tickets holders, terminal 2 does exactly that. I recognize it is difficult to improve what is already quite crippled and Lisbon airport needs closure, conversion into a city park and so that a new airport can be built instead. The taxes being paid by passenger are, at least to my knowledge, the same. It is however, quite a convenient airport, since it's in the city center, with all the problems that creates to Lisbon residents. As usual, very disorganzied on the tarmac and inside, this airport needs humanization.

"This is not good enough"

Not Verified | What is the point of allocating quick, accurate E-passport machines if they are only applied to European citizens. They are currently empty while the wait time for ‘other passports’ is now coming up to 1.5 hours. This is not good enough. Come on Portugal. You are better than this.

"goes against all COVID protocol"

Not Verified | This is my worst airport experience, after an overnight flight it took my daughter and me 3 hrs to go through customs. We first were put in a room with hundreds of people for over 1 hr just for a person to look at our COVID test, which had been looked at before boarding the plain. Only 2 officers in this post. Then we entered another line for 2 hrs so that another officer checked our passport and boarding pass. Only 7 officer for over 1,000 people. Then another line for one more check at our boarding pass? No logic, this put us all in the biggest risk possible for COVID transmission, it goes against all COVID protocol.

"an awful experience"

Trip Verified | Like many living in Portugal, I work remotely and commute regularly. Sometimes as much as once a week. Following Brexit, all British citizens are required to use 'all passport' desks, which apply stamps and do the usual checks. The only problem is there is rarely more than one border agent at the desk to service ALL non-EU passengers and there can be hundreds. It is a disgrace that it is quicker to fly from Gatwick to Lisbon than to have a border agent check my passport. With a flight time of 2hrs 20 minutes, you can expect anywhere from 2-3 additional hours when arriving at Lisbon airport to pass the immigration hall. Waiting in immigration is often times enough time for the baggage to be processed, but don't count on it. In addition to waiting for baggage and immigration, expect to hang about to have a wristband attached for your COVID certification like a teenager in a festival, more waiting for your PLF checks and the fun ends when you have to queue up to exit the airport. It took me 35 minutes once I had collected my baggage in the exit hall, to complete the line that lets one exit to the land-side border - This is due to an additional heat sensor which detects fever, so the flow of passengers exiting the airport must be regulated. Total airport time, 3 hours 20 minutes after a 2-hour 20-minute flight. It's enough to infuriate anyone. That's excluding 30 minutes waiting for a taxi. All in all, an awful experience. If that wasn't enough to frustrate you, it's 3 euros for a can of Fanta. Sorry, but what are you doing with all the money? It's certainly not being invested in the airport infrastructure or staff.
