Not Verified | Nice and clean airport. As an avgeek I love watching planes and there are so many big windows next to restaurants to watch planes. Security wasn’t long. The check-in staff were really nice. On arrival, Immigration was really quick and baggage claim was surprisingly quick. Very quick and free wifi.

✅ Trip Verified | Auckland Airport's management continue to demonstrate zero abilities to dream plan and execute a terminal building which provides a pleasant navigable environment for its users ie passengers. It lacks any sort of continuity from entering the precinct as a prospective passenger through to boarding aircraft. There is a complete absence of garden areas either internal or external, a complete absence of viewing areas either within the building or outside platforms. As an interface between passenger and plane all it offers is a confused mumbo jumbo of disparate poorly identified user portals shops and food outlets which come at the poor passenger like machine gun bullets! Management have completely failed to utilise any sort of imagination instead doing the most pathetic box ticking exercise ever. Makes me ashamed to be a Kiwi!

Not Verified | A disgrace. Arrived after 2 long haul flights and very tired.. An hour to get bags, another 1/2 hour through chaotic customs where the staff all seemed 1/2 asleep and barely out of their teens! Worse to come is transfer to domestic which was cutting it fine with such slow immigration. Couldn’t find bag drop which existed a few years ago so. Longish walk with bad knee to B bus stop which I was directed to by a staff member, (with all bags) for shuttle which didn’t come after 15 minutes so I walked all the way to domestic, no shelter for much of it and many bumps for luggage along the way. Barely any signposts or staff, and some signs in Māori that I couldn’t understand so imagine very confusing for international visitors. It’s time this airport and management improves as it’s been appalling for years now! An embarrassing gateway to New Zealand. The worst airport I’ve been in in many many years.

Not Verified | Made the mistake of moving through domestic departure scan to gates before getting morning tea. Options for food and beverage at the gates were extremely limited and ridiculously overpriced. $5.50 for a tiny Whittaker’s chocolate bar. Vending machines offered more reasonably priced items, same chocolate bar for $3.20 but, despite offering a cash option, just kept spitting out the coins. Given that our flight is now delayed we’re up for a long hungry delay. Not happy

✅ Trip Verified | Embrassing to return to Auckland Airport and go through the uniquely inept sheep pen that is international customs. The online declaration is a farce. Manual paper declarations are given a cruel twist by not supplying pens anywhere. The biosecurity measures are some Stalinist revisionism that New Zealand excels in. I saw confusion and dismay from new arrivals not familiar with Aotearoan pedantry.

✅ Trip Verified | The upgrades are amazing and made our experience so quick and easy from start to finish. We parked in the airport carport, caught the shuttle straight to the drop off area, easily went through security with our 2 kids, all the little improvements made such a difference for both our departure and arrival. Comparing it to Brisbane airport it was so much more advanced which made it a far better experience (especially travelling with 2 young children).

✅ Trip Verified | Auckland Airport is a shambles. The new drop off and pick up areas are not flyer friendly. I have a bad knee and after limping for ten minutes, my knee really hurt. At 4.30 am about five hundred people tried to get through custom and security! It took 90 mins to clear whilst we were forced marched through cattle lines. More pain for my knee. There were no departure screens operating and the gate nominated by checking staff was wrong. The layout is a shambles with too many high end shops and only one fast food outlet. Not impressed as our premium airport!!

Not Verified | Get to Auckland airport check in 3 hours early at 3:15am for a flight back to Sydney…check in completed including the queue within 10 minutes…go to the security area and it’s locked! It remained locked for over an hour until 4:30am before the floodgates finally opened and the hordes descended…the queue was around a thousand people. It took us at least an hour and a half to get through security finally passed at 5:50am a quick toilet trip before boarding and the airline was paging us to immediately get to the plane or risk missing the flight! Absolutely ridiculous! If you’ve got people checking in for an international flight 3 hours early at 3:15am then have the security open to accomodate them! One old lady next to me in the queue politely and very quietly asked me at 5:15am if she’d miss her flight at 5:30am and should she ask to go to the front of the queue…I told her to jump the queue and go straight to the front of the line which she did…there were only 2 security at the passports section for around a thousand people to serve…pathetic, never seen anything like it…we’re frequent fliers and have been travelling to many countries overseas for nearly 2 decades. Appalling service.
