Not Verified | This airline is completely unreliable. They cancel flights and rebook you more than 24 hours apart with massive layovers between flights. Don’t offer flights if you can't deliver them. This is not a Covid issue. This is a poorly managed company. Whatever happened to customer first. Very deplorable.

"I will avoid at all costs in the future"

✅ Trip Verified | This trip was supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime trip for my boyfriend and I to travel to Montreal and watch the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix. I have the WestJet credit card with points saved up so booking with WJ made sense. I booked more than 6 months in advance because I knew flights would fill up fast but that made no difference in the end. The first change in flights happened in March when our direct flight to Montreal was cancelled and replaced with a layover in Calgary on the departing flight and the return flight leaving 7 hours earlier than I had planned. With call centre staffing issues, it took 3 different calls and many many hours waiting on hold. I was finally able to change the return flight to a slightly later time that was still not ideal. I thought my troubles were over when I got an email while enjoying my time at the Grand Prix. The departing flight that I had spent so many hours trying to change was cancelled and instead of returning to Edmonton around 11am, WJ had us arriving after midnight. It was made even worse by the fact that the flight from Montreal to Toronto was at 7am, leaving us stuck in Toronto airport for over 14 hours. I called WestJet immediately to find out options and when I was was told there was no alternative, I suggested flights from another airline that were much more reasonable. I waited on hold for a couple hours for the agent to tell me that they can only book on another airline the day before my flight. I sat on hold for another 2 hours the day of the race instead of enjoying the festivities only for WJ to tell me there are no seats available on other airlines, even though I found a few that that the agent said would work. I ended up having to live with the layover and miss work the next day, but the worst part was the fact that the excitement of the trip was tainted by Westjet’s inability to run an airline. Thanks WestJet. I will avoid at all costs in the future.

"the flight wasn’t direct to Paris"

✅ Trip Verified | I was supposed to fly from Nashville BNA to Paris CDG with two layovers, one in Toronto and the other one in Halifax. First of all, my flight from Toronto to Halifax was delayed by a few hours but whatever I let that go. But as soon as I arrived in Halifax, I received emails telling me that the flight would be delayed. Initially, I was supposed to fly at 10.45pm but no, flight got delayed until cancelled. I spent one night in Halifax, I spent for a new flight to be two days after? I am a broke college student who was just trying to go home and I have sent emails but not one response from WestJet. I have already sent my reimbursement forms and claims for these two nights but still did not receive anything. Not only was the new flight was two days later, the flight wasn’t direct to Paris but instead, I had to fly back to Toronto for another layover there, and fly from Toronto to Paris. The flight in Toronto was also delayed by two hours to go to Paris. I spent more than three days on this trip and I’m not even done! When I arrived in Paris my luggage went missing.

✅ Trip Verified | WestJet cancelled my flight back to Calgary from Vancouver on a Sunday night, and rebooked me on a flight 21 hours later. I will now be missing a full day of work as well as having to scramble for accommodation and spend excess money on food and make extra accommodations to have pets at home fed. I am raging right now, this is disgusting service from WestJet and they show zero concern for the lives of their passengers. If I could give a zero rating I would.

Not Verified | I had booked a flight from Kelowna to Toronto, about a week before my flight they changed the flight and added a layover in Vancouver, no big deal. As I was flying from Kelowna to Vancouver they cancelled my connection and rescheduled my flight for 2 days later. At that time the WestJet representatives were really helpful and identified that if we needed to reschedule with another airline that WestJet would cover the expense and due to the last minute cancellation and food or shelter expenses would be covered by WestJet. They also identified that you would be compensated for the time that the flight was delayed. I have submitted claims for almost a year, have called the help lines, and have continued to be told that I will get my money back and that they should, but just one more form. It is almost a year later and I have still not received any compensation or any money back from what I had to spend. It is worth any extra fee to fly with someone else, as hopefully they would actually get you where you are going.

Not Verified | They lost my luggage, six days later at 5.20pm on a Saturday I finally get a call that they’ll deliver it by 9pm that day. They never show up. Losing bags is bad enough but the entire process to try to get it back has been hellish. Don’t fly them if you value your possessions.

✅ Trip Verified | Flight WS9, Paris to Calgary, Jun 3 2022 Rarely in my 61 years have I felt so insignificant as when in line at the WestJet counter in Charles de Gaulle in Paris. When we arrived three desks were manned, there was a short priority line and a growing (longer) non-priority line. The ladies behind the desks would help 5 priority customers for each less-important-customer. Within 25 minutes 2 more desks opened up and now the 3 previously mentioned desks would focus entirely on the premium customers and the still growing economy line got the 2 other desks. Whenever the priority line was empty they would of course help other people, but still it was different. If the aim of the game is to make us jealous so that we would be tempted to pay more next time to get the premium treatment, you succeeded. I will pay more next time, but I will spend the money on economy tickets on Lufthansa of KLM flights. I fly to Europe once of twice a year and I remember being treated with some respect on those airlines.

✅ Trip Verified | Worst vacation package! Delayed and flight back to Toronto prior landing to Cuba due to maintenance - arrived at Toronto airport at 8am for 10:15 flight, unfortunately reached at the resort in Cuba at 11.30pm starving - no food at the resort, we transferred to 3 different rooms as room was either water on floor or dirty. Coming back to Toronto we were sitting with a person coughing continuously, flight crew never did anything when we ask for a change of seat - "no available seat, we are full okay" but then i found out there were many available seats. I will never take WestJet again.

✅ Trip Verified | This airline is a complete joke. Booked two different one way tickets to Europe and back from Vancouver to London and then from Barcelona to Vancouver. Our original route was booked direct from Vancouver to London. We booked this 5 months before departure. Within 2 months of our flight, Westjet changed our flight to a connection in Toronto instead. Only option was either get a refund or accept the change. With prices for other airlines now much more expensive we obviously had to accept the longer travel day. A couple days later they changed our flight home to a day earlier from Barcelona to Vancouver. Again, prices are now much higher closer to our travel date we had no choice but to shorten our vacation because of their inability to keep the reservation. Our flights home on the travel day were both delayed because of staff issues. Westjet had claimed that they did couldn't locate the pilot's whereabouts. If that wasn't enough, a family member of mine has a flight to Scottsdale the very next day with Westjet. They had a connection in Calgary and the flight to Phoenix ends up being canceled due to not having a flight crew. It's like booking a photographer and only the camera shows up with these guys. Don't risk your vacation with this pathetic airline.
