"Thank you for wonderful service"

(Canada)

Not Verified | My Wife and I used West Jet airlines to Las Vegas, I required wheelchair service at the airport while transferring planes at Calgary and service through Customs and security to the taxi at Las Vegas. We required the same service back to Saskatoon. The Staff were polite, sincere and knowledgeable. The flight attendants were caring and friendly. Thank you for wonderful service.

"I will never fly this airline again"

(United States)

Trip Verified | The worst airline that I have ever flown. Late flights. Missed connections. Employees do not have a clue and really don’t care. I fly every 2 weeks and this is by far the worst airline and staff that I have ever encountered. I will never fly this airline again.

"never seen this level of incompetence"

(United States)

Not Verified | Service at the Orlando airport at the Westjet terminal was painstakingly slow. It took us over an hour to get our bags checked in. Fortunately, we arrived at the airport with ample time before our flight. Taking off from Orlando I was impressed by the spacious accomodation and convenient touches, such as chargers available on the backrest of the seats in front of me. This is where my pleasure with Westjet ends. After connecting in Toronto to Halifax (barely given enough time to make the connection), we landed in Halifax around 910pm. After waiting for our bags, we learned that every passenger connecting from Orlando had their bags left in Toronto. Not the worst thing that could happen right? Well, here we are days later and Westjet has no idea where our bags are. They have an automated tracking system that is all but useless. Currently our bags have a Status of "we found your bag", but no detail on when I should expect to receive the bag, nor can they verify where the bag is currently at with any level of certainty. After waiting for over an hour and 1/2 to speak to an actual person, I was left with no additional information, outside of we know at some point your bag was in Toronto and was scheduled to have arrived in Halifax over 24 hours ago, so we'll cancel your request to have your bags sent to your hotel, given that you leave yo return back to Toronto (and then onto Aruba) in less than 36 hours. So, now I'm here hoping that my bags meet me in Halifax for a 6am flight less than 36 hours from now, and if not, spend the second leg of my trip potentially absent the entirety of my luggage. Perhaps I'll finally see my bag when I get back to Florida a week from now. Somehow I am skeptical. I've been traveling for over 4 decades and have never seen this level of incompetence.

"don’t clean the overhead compartments regularly"

(Canada)

Not Verified | I use a wheelchair and when flying I always take my seat and wheelchair arms on board. The Westjet staff put the items in the overhead compartment in Vancouver. Upon arriving in Calgary there was no aisle chair, another 20 minute wait for that. The crew then was rushed to get me off the plane, the crew grabbed a seat and two wheelchair arms from the overhead compartment. They did not give me time to examine my wheelchair and the Westjet crew physical put the random wheelchair arms on my wheelchair. A couple days later I realized that one of my wheelchairs arm was black and the other a dark green teal. Upon calling Westjet and filing/calling (2hrs) I was told that I brought it on so it’s wasn’t Westjet responsibility. However it was Westjet’s crew who put the medical equipment in the overhead compartment, took down random items and physical put them on my wheelchair. The last to touch is responsible. It seemed strange that a wheelchair arm from another wheelchair was left behind so I asked a Westjet Rep why it was discovered when cleaned. They don’t clean the overhead compartments regularly! I have been loyal to Westjetter since it started up, never again.

"WestJet are rude and unfair"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | Our trip was booked and paid for in January 2020. Due to Covid, the flights were cancelled by the airlines. After more than two years of calls and emails we have been unable to have our WestJet flights refunded to us. The initial customer service people at WestJet are pleasant to deal with but they have to forward you to the Customer Relations group when it comes to these refunds. The people at the Customer Relations just say too bad and that I can complain to Transport Canada if we are unhappy. When it comes down to it, WestJet are rude and unfair. After more than two years, WestJet has refused to refund our tickets and maintains that we can only have a credit. Our family is struggling with all the expenses and having WestJet hold our money is unjust and wrong.

"we just want our money back"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | We booked this trip one year ago, for my mom and I to go to New York City May 16-21. May 16, upon arriving to the airport at 0330, we were told our flight 3218 was cancelled. They told us we should receive an email. We then received the email at 0429am along with all other passengers, and our flight was scheduled to depart at 0615 so we would also be having to get our Connecting flight to New York rebooked. When Westjet rebooked our flight, they booked the Thunder Bay to Toronto flight at 430pm later that day, and the Toronto to New York flight the following day, so we were told we would have to book a hotel room in Toronto. We were told that we would be compensated for this hotel room. We booked a Toronto hotel for $124.26 including tax. However, we were also paying for our hotel room in New York, because the hotels all have a 24 hour cancellation policy. So because we only found out 11 hours before our hotel check-in about the cancellation, we had to forfeit our room for the night without any money back. This hotel, “Yotel Times Square” is roughly $350 Canadian dollars a night so we ended up losing out on the $350 as well as the $124 for the Toronto hotel which we were forced to book. We also added an extra night to our trip since our whole trip was being cut short by one day, which we knew we would be responsible for booking, and we agreed that would be a good idea. May 16 - when we arrived for our new flight at 430pm, WestJet assured us we would get our luggage in Toronto since they had to change our flights, so we had to spend a night in Toronto for a 15 hour layover. We double checked with 2 WestJet representatives who confirmed we would indeed pick up our luggage at the carousel in Toronto so we would have our overnight belongings. They encouraged us to pack our personal belongings into our checked bag since we would be picking it up in Toronto in an hour and a half when we arrived. When we arrived in Toronto we went to the carousel and waited half hour and our bags never came. We went to the Westjet counter and they looked at our luggage tag and she told us our luggage was going straight through to New York, so we weren’t able to collect our luggage with all of our belongings. This was frustrating for us because we spoke to two separate representatives in Thunder Bay who reassured us we would get our bags in Toronto. May 22 - Now fast forward to May 22 when we are supposed to head home. We get an email at 7am stating our flight 1215 and 3219 were cancelled and changed to Tuesday. We immediately get ahold of Expedia who says their hands are tied since Westjet made changes they had control over our flights and Expedia couldn’t access our flights etc. I called WestJet they said to go through Expedia. In the meantime, my mom and I are trying to figure out where to stay for 2 extra nights in New York now since rooms are starting at $300 Canadian per night. Finally Expedia gets through to WestJet and requests to cancel our flights and get a partial refund so that my mom and I can book new flights to get home (booked with Porter because Westjet didn’t have anything available until Tuesday). How can they cancel our flights for 2 full days but then expect us to pay for the hotel? And then Westjet is hard to contact which I understand but we just want our money back. I stayed on hold with Westjet while she tried to reach the support desk and after waiting 50 minutes she hung up.

"still no sign of luggage"

(United States)

Not Verified | First flight delayed - no big deal as it was rescheduled for 1 hour later. The downhill slide began upon arrival in Toronto where I was told I needed to collect my baggage (after being told by clerk in Dublin that it would go straight through to final destination). No sign of luggage at carousel which took over 1/2 hour to reach from the gate and then a 40 minute wait with 10 minutes before boarding left. Stopped and delayed by customs for another 20 minutes after being told I needed to wait for the missing luggage to clear customs. At last minute they wrote up a waiver to let me on the plane. Made it to the gate after all other passengers boarded. Fine, they let me on. Arrive in Boston still no sign of luggage. Report missing luggage and told it would be delivered within 24 hours. No updates since for two days now and impossible to reach customer service. After reading all these reviews I guess I should not be surprised. Never again what a stupid idea it was to fly with this company in order to save a few bucks.

"The service was beyond deplorable"

(Canada)

Not Verified | My daughter flew from Toronto to Calgary on May 16, 2022. The flight was scheduled to depart at 8pm, but was late and the delay meant my daughter missed her connecting flight. Fair enough - it happens. WestJet rescheduled her second flight departing from Calgary to Grande Prairie for May 17, 2022 at 12.20pm and put her up in a hotel overnight. This is where it falls apart. My daughter was travelling to work in Alberta. She had been living in Quebec where she was going to school. She normally resides in Ontario. She was travelling with two Government- issued Ontario documents: Health Card and Driver's License. They had recently expired, but were still valid as the Government extended their validation due to Covid. She experienced no problem from Toronto to Calgary, but when boarding for her Grande Prairie leg, she was denied boarding. Staff told her the documents were expired and therefore she couldn't fly. There was no problem from Toronto to Calgary, but they changed their minds from Calgary to Grande Prairie. Common sense went out the door! In addition, they flew her luggage to Grande Prairie without her. (Is that even allowed)? She had to book a 10+hour bus ride that didn't depart until 7pm, May 17th so she could make it to her work which was an additional expense. Not only did WestJet leave a young adult stranded, but then refused to compensate her for the flight she couldn't take - not even a credit. The service was beyond deplorable. No common sense was used to accommodate my daughter and worse, WestJet made her travelling needlessly stressful and costly, (both time and money). A trip that should have taken 6.5 hours took her 35.5 hours. Never again will we use WestJet. We also had another issue last year, but that's another story. We gave them a second chance. Never again. They are worst airline by far! Do not use them or you will regret it.

"Beyond disappointing"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | Still waiting an hour and a half after deplaning for the luggage to come off. First lie is there are “staffing shortages” yet other Westjet flights landing after us got their baggage no problem. Keep promising 15 mins but it’s 45 mins later and still nothing. Beyond disappointing.

"Never again will I fly WestJet"

(Canada)

Not Verified | I flew to Jamaica with my wife in April 2022. The plane was 2.5 hours late travelling down. The staff were incredibly rude - you felt like hiding so they would not yell at you, which they did to too many passengers, really over nothing. When we landed we had to stay trapped on a hot plane for 30 minutes. The return was no better. Angry rude staff. No food service. No entertainment. Never again will I fly WestJet.
