"Terrible customer service"

Not Verified | Milwaukee to Washington. Terrible customer service. Because my ticket was purchased via 3rd party, it was deemed group 5. I tried to upgrade from economy time of purchase and check in but it would not let me. By the time you get to the gate you pay $50 for your hand luggage. Or you go back thru TSA to pay $25. Very hungry airline, seats are very tight. Stay away from them. Even Spirit is better.

Not Verified | Buffalo to San Juan via Chicago. My family and I were rerouted because we missed our connecting flight in Chicago when the first flight from Buffalo was almost two hours delayed. We were sent from Chicago to LaGuardia airport in New York and told that our luggage would be sent to LaGuardia. When we arrived at LaGuardia, our luggage didn't. We filed a baggage claim and were told that the luggage was still in Chicago but would arrive on a later flight. Since our connecting flight wouldn't be leaving until the next morning, we waited at the airport and when the last flight arrived around 11pm, still no luggage. We are now left without any luggage and we will be catching our cruise at it's next port of call. This means we will be without a change of clothes and toiletries during a one week cruise. United Airlines has only given us a lot of explanations why they can't help us. The only reason we will even be able to board the boat is because we purchased new tickets through another airline. After the humiliation and frustration that we have been put through by United Airlines, I would never recommend this airline. They give you a number to call but make sure that you can't contact a live person.

Trip Verified | Maui to San Francisco We had a flight to Kauai from Maui which we could not make due to Hurricane Lane/ fires blocking all roadways to the Kahului airport. Because of this we could not go to Kauai. We had a return flight from Kauai to Maui connecting from Maui to SFO. We had already paid for our flight, we called in to see if we would have to do anything special with our bags. Then they informed us because we wouldn't be on the first plane in the flight arrangement they would need to "cancel" per policy and charge us additionally to schedule us a new flight, even though we already paid for two seats on a flight that is already leaving from Maui to sf which we would be on. United had "waived fees" for flight issues related to the hurricane up until the 26th August, but had no sympathy or sensitivity to the fact that our issue is directly correlated to the waivers they were issuing. Terrible customer service, terrible policies, terrible compassion, and overall I am not surprised with this experience given everything United has received heat for in recent history. I'll never book with them again. I have to believe our experience is part of UA's attempt to fix their stock price, never again. This experience was over the phone and not directly related to any flight attendants, pilots, or in flight experience. Just want to express the unbelievable ridiculousness we experienced with UA policies, call, customer service.

"staff were very attentive"

Trip Verified | We had 4 flights over a period of 2 weeks with United. I have to say they are the best airline we have flown with. Leg room was excellent, staff were very attentive to our needs. Meals and drinks were of a high standard. Leg room and comfort were very good including pillow and blanket and flight entertainment was brilliant with so many movies, TV shows and games to choose from. It made our whole experience of flying so relaxed.

"flight was terrible"

Trip Verified | Las Vegas to Miami. Flight was terrible, tried to pay for seats prior to our flight but website was down so we spoke with customer service which promised us seats together with a window and in front, upon arriving the seats were not together. All staff members were unhelpful. Going home from Miami flight was delayed which caused us to be unable to make our second flight. They had no more flights until the next day and would not refund nor give us a hotel. So we will be missing work and lost a lot of money in Uber’s, hotel and food. Will not be flying with United again after lack of accommodation.

"seat in business class broken"

Trip Verified | Newark to London. Get the seat comfort of Economy when you book Business class: the seat in business class was broken and could not recline. Quite annoying on a night flight. The crew tried to solve the issue but they did not manage to address it. The cabin was full, so no other options.

Trip Verified | Chicago to Hartford. I'm currently sitting on a United flight as I type this. Supposedly I checked in on my phone 24 hours in advance, then when i was in line to go through the general screening area the United app tells me I'm not checked in because I cant bring a carry-on with me. So now I need to get out of line and go back to speak with an agent. Then they tell me I have to pay for my bags to go through, $25 for the first bag and $35 for the second. And on the plane they stuck me in the last row. Where the people in front of me put their seat all the way back and my seat doesn't move! I paid as much as the person in front of me did, why did I get such a horrible seat? It wasnt fair for me to sit there all messed up, its ridiculous.On top of all of that, the plane is old, nothing is new. No tvs, no usb input, no headphones input, no entertainment, I am no longer a customer.

"It wasn’t anything special"

Trip Verified | Flew United Airlines from Chicago to Toronto. My flight was delayed 2 hours because of weather, I know this isn’t the airlines fault but it was disappointing that they gave no snacks but did offer juice/water. It wasn’t anything special, the seats were pretty comfortable and the price is was ok.

"the worst experience"

Trip Verified | This is the worst experience I ever had. I was flying from Boston MA to Atlanta Georgia via Newark with the flight scheduled 7:30 am with destination arrival 1:18 pm. The flight from the Boston was delayed for more than 5 hours due to thunder storm at Newark and the problem with generator failure at the gate which caused missing of connecting flight to Atlanta. After waiting in queue for 2 hrs at Newark, the boarding pass was issued for 5:40 pm that day(August 11th, Saturday). After the boarding was announced for 5:40 and the gate was opened for crew members, the plane was cancelled. There was already very long queue at consumer service there were no other options than standing in the queue because I was unable to reach customer service via phone. After waiting for line for more than four hours, the situation became very worse due to rude behavior of the customer service representative. She mentioned that next available flight is on Monday morning(August 13th) and there is nothing she can do to help. She also mentioned that hotel accommodation cannot be done as it is weather related although the flight delay from Boston was due to power failure at the gate as well. She convinced me to fly back to Boston next morning(Sunday) and forget about the family vacation or wait at airport until Monday morning. The representative walked away stating that she has other customer to take care of and asking me to make decision to wait until Monday or fly back to Boston on Sunday. It was already past 10 PM and my younger daughter(5yrs) was sleeping on my shoulder. The customer service representative did not came back to the window for more that half and hour and I walked to the next window and requested to talk to the manager. The guy at other window called their team leader who offered option for stand by tickets for next day and spend the night at the airport. I was already tired and hungry and there was no other option than crying or comforting wife and two kids. Spent cold night at cold airport floor. I was not able to get accommodated on 9 am flight on Sunday. I convinced my wife and two kids who where crying after loosing hope of getting flight. Next available flight for stand by was on 11:01 am. There was already about 60 people on standby list and I was flying in a family of four, so the hope of getting boarding pass was very minimum. But it was our luck to get boarding pass for 11:01 plane to Atlanta. I will never fly in United airlines until they review their policies about flight cancellation give education to their costurmer cervices representatives.

"United did not help"

Trip Verified | There was a delay of two hours at Washington airport. Once we were in the air, we landed early in Detroit and United Airlines had no instructions. We were only told to get off the plane and wait for instruction. After an hour of waiting they came to a conclusion that there would be another flight the next day. United did not help with any accommodation for a place to sleep in the night for any of their customers. When I checked into a hotel that I was forced to pay for, other people staying at the hotel had vouchers from the Amarican Airlines company because American Airlines cares about where their customers go to sleep at night in the event of a flight change or delay. The day of the flight there was no representative seen at the desk gate D10 from the hours of 7am-10.30am. There was no one there to talk or help any customer until the time of boarding. I sent in a complaint online and a reply came to me saying my request would be answered in 14-22 days. The representatives I spoke to on the phone for United airlines helped with nothing.
