"Very disappointed by United"

Trip Verified | Very disappointed by United. Their online booking system didn't process our reservation correctly even though I received a confirmation email for my purchase. They never acknowledged that their system was faulty and blamed it on my bank 2 hours before boarding. The bank confirmed that the transaction went through and still United told me there was nothing they could do about it. I then bought a new ticket in front of them and the same problem persisted. Again they blamed it on my bank. Long story short the customer service is completely clueless, they treat you like you a nuisance and won't even apologize for their mistake or for wasting your time. Highly not recommended.

"very disappointing experience"

Trip Verified | Mumbai to Los Angeles via Newark. Both segments had B777-200, but with different configurations and vastly different travel experiences. The B777-200 from BOM to EWR had 3-3-3 configuration with an old seat-back TV screen. The 31 inch seat pitch was inadequate for a 15 hour flight. The one advantage that United has over Air India on BOM-EWR route is WiFi. Unfortunately, the WiFi was not working, and United compensated me with 2,500 bonus miles. The food selection was average, and the timing of meals was puzzling. Instead of serving dessert after dinner, the flight attendants distributed sandwich and Kit-Kat bar. The B777-200 on EWR-LAX route was in 3-4-3 configuration and had no seat-back TV screen. The seats on this B777 were much slimmer. There was no complimentary meal service on this 5.5 hour flight. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

"waste of time and money"

United is a waste of time and money, at this point. My first flight was from Toronto at 6:00am to connect with my next flight to Chicago to finally take my last flight to Puerto Rico at 7:30am. Something came up with the airplane and I lost my flight among other people. Not only that but they also gave me new flights and three 10$ "Vouchers" at Chicago waited a few hours to head to Miami. I got not long ago to Miami and finally head back to PR. Lovely thing they are. They sent me to the wrong terminal D3 that heads to London, not PR! My terminal was really at D40 and when I tried to use the vouchers to finally eat something since I have been flying since 6:00am till now 8:05pm the three vouchers where expired. Since the 20th, today is the 22nd. Thank you , United. I refuse to waste money on this airline in the future.

"Last time for me"

Trip Verified | United Airlines is the worst airline I have ever flown for having an issue with time. Tonight another delay of 2 hours. I have flown Delta and Southwest the last couple of years without a hitch. 3 times in the same time period United has issues. Last time for me. United can take a long walk off a short pier.

"not a pleasant experience"

Trip Verified | Houston to Roanoke via O’Hare. Very disorganized. Late boarding because incoming flight was late. Boarding stopped mid-way through due to thunderstorm, which never materialized. Delayed disembarking in Chicago because bridge was not working. No snacks because they forgot to board them in Houston. Missed connection as a result. Re-routed to Charlotte. Departing gate was as far from my arriving gate as possible, which seems odd since it was the same airline. Most of the staff were on the rude side. Gate for Charlotte trip got changed. No drinks because route was too bumpy. Arrived in Charlotte, sat on tarmac for 10 minutes. Just received email that 1 of my 2 bags didn’t make it to Charlotte. Might be ok, though, because I only checked in one bag! Overall, not a pleasant experience. Wasn’t really treated like a customer (despite all the printed propaganda surrounding me telling me otherwise). Not sure how they stay in business unless they are all like this, in which case I’m glad I don’t fly that often.

"unorganized worthless airline"

Trip Verified | Bismarck to Norfolk via Chicago. Flight left Bismarck late because ticket agent was hand keying the tickets, so we missed our connecting flight. Instead of a 45. Min layover it turned into a 5 hour layover. Then our luggage isn’t in Virginia when we land. Still don’t know when our bags will be here. Do Not Fly United! The most unorganized worthless airline I’ve ever flown! I’ve even flown Tower Air (military contract) and they’re better. I only wish I could give them a zero out of ten rating, but the lowest is one.

"a terrible experience"

Trip Verified | Chicago to Louisville. Me and my family missed our flight due to the chaotic and confusing directions not given, but rudely yelled from staff while entering customs. Everyone in customs was confused, the staff was very unfriendly, yelling directions and arguing with people who did not know where to go or what to do making me sympathize with foreigners entering this country for the first time and receiving this type of hospitality. When I approached several different counters in the gating sections to ask for help, several desk employees walked passed me multiple times, with knowledge I was there for help as they were more interested in conversing amongst themselves or being on their phone. This was a terrible experience as the staff alone are all incompetent, rude, and very unhelpful. I refuse to fly with United ever again.

"worst airline experience by far"

Not Verified | My flight from San Francisco to Honolulu had a delay of 12 hours until the middle of the night. At the beginning, we boarded the plane and waited for 3 hours for differents reasons until they told us that the plane had a problem so we had to get off. Each hour since 5pm they called at the microphone a “little” delay of 20-30 minutes and by now, I heard those “apologies” and excuses too many times. It’s midnight and we aren’t sure that the pilot will make it for 2am. It’s definitely my worst airline experience by far and I won’t ever fly again with United Airlines for sure!

"Had to pay for carryon bag"

Trip Verified | Portland to Chicago. Horrible airline. Had to pay for carryon bag. Despite over fifteen open seats in the middle of the aircraft, passengers were not allowed to move unless they paid a ridiculous up charge. There was no sense of trying to do good to the customer, only trying to get as much money as possible at every opportunity. Will never electively fly united again.

"What a pain"

Trip Verified | Chicago to Knoxville. Attendant was rude and lied about why I couldn’t bring my small bag on because it had wheels. First he said it was an FAA regulation, then he tried to tell me it was a weight and balance issue, both false. I carried the same bag onto the same plane CRJ-200, 3 times in the last 4 days. It wasn’t until this last leg home that I ran into a problem! It would have also fit under me seat, but he wouldn’t budge! If they are flying under United, all regional carriers should follow the same rules! What a pain!
