Spirit Airlines is the worst airline you will encounter. Flight to Tampa was cancelled at 09:30, even though the flight didn't leave til 2:35 pm. They said the weather caused the cancellation, however it was clear in Tampa and Houston. We we asked where the weather was, they couldn't tell us. Also, we had several other people flying into Tampa on other airlines at the same time, everyone else made it. They said they couldn't get us to Tampa til the next day, so we said cancel the reservation and we will book with another airline, so they fought us on that as well. They wouldn't refund us the full amount. They are extremely unreliable. The baggage weight is 40lbs, so don't expect them to be like every other airline, and once the baggage fees and every other nickel-n-dimeing thing they could pull off, they weren't much cheaper than everyone else! Pay the extra 15 dollars and fly with someone else.

Boston to Ft Myers. As a regular traveler, I can honestly say that my experience today with Spirit Airlines today was the worst of my travel history. I will never book a flight with this airline again. As they say 'you get what you pay for'. And in this case we got nothing! After several delays (first one because of 'muggy conditions'?), then told the aircraft hadn't yet left Florida, then told they couldn't tell us when it might arrive, then ultimately cancelled. Trying to get our luggage after all this was another exercise in frustration. Save yourself a lot of aggravation, spent a bit more money and you will actually get to your destination.

Spirit Airlines started delaying our Cleveland to Tampa flight before we even left our house for the airport. After that, it was delayed another 6 different times because the aircraft needed to "stop for gas". After being stuck at the airport for 5+ hours waiting for our delayed flight, we found out that our flight was now cancelled from fellow flight members. After finding out that our flight was officially cancelled from the airline for now weather issues, we then found out that the next flight out to Tampa would not be for another 2 days later or we could receive a refund. They did not help us find another flight to get to our destination, nor did they have very much information as to what to do because of the cancelled flight. After spending hours to find another flight through a different airline, they attendants from the other airline told us that spirit is know for their cancellations for unknown reasons. This was the worst flying experience that I have ever been put through. I got my money back, but there is no one that can give me the time I spent sitting in an airport instead of with family. Wasted time, wasted energy, and wasted money.Very disappointed.

Spirit Airlines carefully pushes the envelope on personal space. I am not a tall guy but my knees hit the seat on the first flight. On my return, Spirit then told me my flight was cancelled. They did not even apologize. Horrible customer service. I was given no other options except to wait another day and call off of work or to get a refund. The next day the flight was delayed 3 hours. The cabin attendants are pretty nice and provide a tiny bit of human interaction. Yet, everything will cost you. The flight is only as cheap as you want it to be. This hassle and infringement on the welfare of people is not worth saving any money.

"Spirit Airlines was a rip off"

Spirit Airlines was a rip off. I flew between Bogota and New York City via Fort Lauderdale in December. The fare was lower than other airlines, or so it seemed. It is true everything is an add-on at Spirit. Food, checked baggage, carry on luggage, change fees - everything. Why this may be fine on a short hop, it is not acceptable on an international flight. When you add it all up, Spirit is no bargain. Moreover, their seats don't recline and are very uncomfortable. Worst part, Spirit only allows a one hour connection from international to domestic flights in Fort Lauderdale. Our departing flight was 30 minutes late due to a mechanical issue, so the connection time was even less. Traveling with a two children and another adult, this was very tight. Needless to say we missed our connection, but Spirit would not accommodate us. We were told there were no other flights between Fort Lauderdale and New York that night, and were forced to pay for hotel rooms and take a flight the next day. Moreover, we had to pay the difference in air fare between the flight we missed (due to Spirit's mechanical delay) and the flight we actually took. All told, we were delayed by 32 hours and spent over $1,000 more had we booked United, American, Copa, Avianca or any other airline for the same flight. We never received an apology or reimbursement for the hotel, meals and difference in air fare we were forced to pay because of Spirit's delay. Lastly, we later found out from the Fort Lauderdale Airport Authority that the minimum connection time at FLL is 90 minutes, not 60 minutes. Jetblue, which also flies the same route, actually states on their website that that the minimum connection time is 60 minutes. Accordingly, Spirit sells product that customers can often not use. To generate more money, they then charge customers additional fees (difference in air fare), because of the faulty product. It's like selling someone a broken car, then charging them for repairs. Because of this horrible experience, Spirit will never be a consideration again for air travel. Add to the mix uncomfortable seats, add-ons for international flights and rude service, Spirit should be out of business.

Philadelphia to Dallas Fort-Worth return, and had an excellent experience. They are just as advertised: No Frills. The staff was awesome; they were accommodating, entertaining and informative. I read so many bad reviews before our flight- none applied to ours. We always buy direct from the air carrier so there isn't any confusion.

Orlando to San Juan and the worst experience ever. Two flights, two delays and people complaining. No seat assignments even though I bought the tickets two months ago. My party of ten was divided, the last 4 people were sent through JetBlue two hours later. Not in my options for next travel, one star.

On the way out from Los Angeles to OAK we had the best experience. Cheap tix, small carry-on bags only ment no extra fees and the air host was the funniest. Departed and arrived on time. On the way back we were delayed four hours. Good thing there was a constant updating of departure times on their website. And having familiarised ourselves with what kind of airline Spirit Airlines is, we knew to expect trouble. The upside is we got from Los Angeles to San Francisco and back for under 100 dollars. But I would not use Spirit if I needed to be somewhere on time.

Had a great flight from Cleveland to Orlando with Spirit once again. For such a low price and short flight, I had no need for entertainment or WiFi (which they do not offer to save on costs). The flight was smooth and the staff was great. We landed early in Orlando so overall, fantastic flight! I always fly Spirit to Florida and I highly recommend!

Atlantic City to Orlando, and Spirit Airlines has the worst seats I've ever flown. It's also true that flying out of Atlantic City, the people who work with or for Spirit are as nice as I've experienced. That being said, the management and ownership is worse than the worst. Just try to get in touch by phone. it's near impossible. So, woe to you if you have a problem that needs a quick answer. I have some miles to use up with Spirit and then I rip up their credit card and I am gone.
