"flight to Houston is cancelled"
Richard Cox (United States)
Not Verified | Thursday 2/21/19 receive an alert on my app my flight to Houston is cancelled. No reason given. The flight had a stop and plane Change in Las Vegas. I have a seminar that I cannot miss I spend an hour on hold and an hour online trying to rebook with Southwest no luck book with Spirit airlines. I find the contact link to SWA and send a message cancel my return trip also stating I cannot wait to book a flight and I have one on another airlines. One hour later I receive a call from SWA can we work something out. No I have already booked a new flight cancel and refund my money. Today I check my e-mail and I have a no reply answer from them. It states the flight was cancelled for inclement weather. Las Vegas received an inch of snow on Thursday. I lived in Vegas for 30 years and in 2008 the airport received 8” of snow and they did not cancel flights. Then I get a CNN news alert that SWA is cancelling flights all over because of a mechanics negotiations that has gone on for two years. It appears that most flights in or out of Las Vegas are cancelling.

"save as many seats as you need"
Leonatta Nelson (United States)
Not Verified | Milwaukee to Denver. Boarding process - check in to get boarding location to discover passengers are allowed to board and save seats for people that have a later boarding assignment. Will not fly this airline again, but people need to know that according to their customer service department - saving seats is allowed. If you fly this airline - have one person purchase early bird or business class and have that person board and save as many seats as you need for the people in your party.

"very bad customer service"
E Kalaru (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Minneapolis to Dallas via Chicago. I had flight on Feb 23 early morning at 7:40 Am initially from MSP to Dallas. There was no snow but they still cancelled the flight. Rescheduled to 10:30 am, they just cancelled again. For next day feb 24 I rescheduled to flight for early morning 7am, it got cancelled again. Rescheduled to 10:15 Am flight later it also got cancelled. To be frank I guess they don’t have enough people to fly in their flight so they just cancelled flight by saying weather conditions. Because I have all my friends traveled on both days without any problem since there is no snow. It has very bad customer service. I would not recommend them for my future travel

"canceled our Flight"
R Mikolajczak (United States)
Not Verified | Chicago to St Louis. Southwest canceled our Flight at 10 pm the night before our trip. The weather was not the reason since their other flights flew. We were given a phone number to call. There was a 105 minute wait to reschedule. Since most flights on this route are close to or totally fully booked we returned by train. Since the last 3 trips on this route have had 3 hour delays twice and a 1 hour 20 minute delay once, we will fly other airlines. This is the second time in 3 years a flight was canceled.

"declined in service"
David Palmer (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Southwest used to be a decent airline, but has recently declined in service. We took our 6 year old daughter to Disney. Our return flight was canceled without notification. To make matters worse, when I asked the attendant at the gate, I was told it was because of “weather”. Being skeptical of this “weather” related issue, I called Southwest customer service number and was told the real answer which was the the flight was canceled due to maintenance issues. So not only was I not informed of the cancellation, they lied to me at the gate. This is not the first time this has happened; last time I was on business. This is my last trip on Southwest. Unacceptable! Especially when you’re traveling with a child. Southwest, Get your act together!

"Our flight was cancelled"
Melinda Meyer (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Las Vegas to Oklahoma City. Our flight was cancelled and I did not get an email until right before I was checking luggage. Others got an email the day before. Then we booked another flight late that night to get a cancellation 5 minutes making the reservations. They didn't have any flights back to Tulsa until 2 days later. I had to fly into OKC and drive the rest of the way. The line was so long I got out after standing in the same spot for 40 minutes. I didn't get anything for this trouble.

"Extremely late leaving"
C Lathan (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Tampa to Atlanta. Terrible airline. Late getting to Atlanta. Extremely late leaving Atlanta. Fight to Atlanta there air cart broke. Which I’m sure the reason they even need an air cart is because they have terrible maintenance. This is a 24 hr 365 operation. T

"Staff unhelpful and inefficient"
Stephanie Dauzat (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Los Angeles to New Orleans. My originally flight from Oakland to LAX with connection flight LAX to MSY was postponed due to mechanical windshield wiper motor error. Our flight was changed 3 times with the best option staying with original flight and hoping plane would be fixed. After 4 hours we finally flew to LAX where we had to wait in baggage claim for 3 hours and argue to get a hotel (reminder that we missed our connection flight home due to southwest equipment malfunction). Southwest gave us a voucher for travel to and from hotel but second voucher could not be plugged into app as payment. Staffs response was “I don’t know how to help you.” Staff was unhelpful and inefficient having to contact supervisor for hotel then travel arrangements to and from hotel. We had NO direct contact or conversation with the manager. Once we arrived to the hotel which was 30 minutes away from the airport, the service desk attendant told us they never received a call from southwest and hopefully she could find us a room. We decided to Uber back to LAX and payed on our expense due to voucher not working. Get to southwest for 7am flight after 3 hours of sleep due to inefficiency of staff and wasting our time trying to figure out processes which should already be in place. Flight from LAX to MSY was delayed yet again 2 hours due to mechanical errors. I asked the desk attendant if I could have more specifics to document for work and the response I received was “I don’t know anything further” and when I asked if there will be an announcement as to why flight was delayed the response I got was “no we are inspecting the plane and when it is safe to fly then we will notify you”. Awaiting flight in airport which total hours spent is 15+ hours and counting for this one flight on my birthday.

"never received baggage claim"
Precious Fong (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Chicago to Sacramento. Well this is the second time in a row this has happen with southwest. I and my husband are active military and never received baggage claim. We have important places we need to be at a certain time and don’t have time to wait days without our military belongings. This is ridiculous. They’re service wasn’t great. They didn’t seem to care of the situations we had come across. This is a disaster. Don’t think I’ll ever travel with them again.

"don't upgrade to early bird check in"
A Turner (United States)
Not Verified | Raleigh to Denver. Huge fan of Southwest. I will use them whenever possible over any other airline. However, not a huge fan of the "early-bird check-in" feature. The past 2 times I purchased it, it did not work. Did not check me in and gave me a much lower boarding number. The first time I caught it close enough and was able to get B1 but when I brought it up to customer service at the gate they just kinda shrugged and said "that's weird, it shouldn't have sold it to you when we didn't have any more available" and that was it. No apology, no refund offer, no anything. The second time, even though I'd paid for early bird, I made sure I was prepared to check myself in just in case. Glad I did. It didn't work again. I checked myself in and again brought it up to the gate agent and customer service - again, just a shrug and "weird". No apology. No refund offer. Nothing. It's very confusing to me, because Southwest has amazing customer service in all other avenues in my experience. But with early bird check in, they just don't care if it works or not. It's an additional $15 per person in my party that they pocketed. So, now I continue to use Southwest, but I don't upgrade to the early bird check in. It's not worth it when it's unreliable.
