"Worst airline ever"
Cooper Sarbacker (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Palm Springs to Chicago. Worst airline ever, they made us wait on the plane for a extra 30 minutes so we missed our flight. We went to the rebooking place and they said they cant give us anything! No rental car. And no hotel vouchers. Absolutely unbelievable. Now we have to wait at the Chicago airport for 11 hours to catch the next flight. Do not fly with American Airlines.

"you get what you pay for"
Brent Lewallen (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Customer service isn’t about how bad you mess up it’s about how you fix it - well American Airlines can screw up big and then make it worse. probably the same old story most travelers have gone through at some point but in the end the luggage was in the back literally a wall away from us and they refused to get it. The people they screwed with the delays did not take precedence over people that booked much later. The list could go on. Long story short if you need to fly don’t use them unless you must. If they are cheaper you get what you pay for.

"this is bad business"
C Beale (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Our flight from Oklahoma City to Dallas delayed 2 hrs. Our flight from Dallas delayed multiple times (still here). Now it looks like we are going to miss next flight also. My company purchased our tickets with American Airlines. I have always flown southwest or Delta and never experienced delays more than 5 minutes. Not a weather problem; it’s April and weather is good! Seriously, this is bad business.

"worst customer support"
B Ansell (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | New York to Chicago. This airline will treat you worse than an animal. After a 2h delay, we are “parked” in the plane and waiting to depart. No information is being communicated, no food/water is being distributed. Below minimum human standards! They also wouldn’t accept volunteers who were ready to give up their seats for other passengers to fly - worst customer support ever. They also claimed that WiFi for entertainment was available on this flight, it is not.

"rude and dismissive"
Kurt Baumann (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Dallas Fort Worth to Milwaukee. My gate was changed 4 times in an hour and a half America Airlines team members were rude and dismissive of my family and 8 other travelers. At the gate desk they then told me to go complain at the information desk but it wouldn’t help America Airlines is indifferent to customer service This was reiterated to me by 2 AA captains and ground staff. The steward took blankets away from my 85 year old mother when I asked for some more she came back and threw them at me after telling me she didn’t appreciate me telling the captain that I gave my mother a 83 year old grandmother my mother’s wheelchair and that she had been in airport 12 hours. I told stewardess I don’t appreciate her customer service and attitude while watching other passengers jaw drop at her aggressive and unprofessional behavior. There was another great steward aboard that tried to my my Birthday flight home better.

" gave us a bad attitude"
N Beale (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Savannah to Dallas. We arrived at the airport 2.5 hrs early to get checked in. I travelled with my 80 year old mother who lives in a different state than me, and who does not know how to use the kiosk. There were 3 ladies behind the check in counter huddled up talking and giggling like school girls. We stepped to the counter and asked to be checked in. A rude woman said, did you try the kiosks?! I stated, "No. My mother is 80 years old and does not know how to use them, so we would like to check in here". She gave us a bad attitude while her friends still stood there doing nothing to help other passengers, by maybe calling them over to their empty check in stations. There used to be something we called "customer service". Apparently, American Airlines would rather pay staff to stand around and *watch customers use the kiosk*, rather than offer assistance to elderly passengers, who remember the days of checking in at the counter with a live friendly agent, not an robot?! I was furious my mother was treated this way. To top it off, they also put us in separate seating rows at checkin, yet when I booked our tickets, I had chosen seats together online. I had to have another agent at the gate correct the seating arrangement, where we were then sat in the very back row against the toilet walls where seats did not recline, not the prechosen seats we paid for and were ticketed to sit in on our reservations.

"kind and compassionate"
P Jeale (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Detroit to Chicago. As I sit on the tarmac for an hour because of a weather delay in Chicago I felt a need to say how kind and compassionate our flight attendants have been. I wish all my flights have been this good. Now let’s hope we make it to Chicago on time for my connection

"One could not ask more"
R Sanyal (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Chicago to New York. Having read the relentless negative reviews on American Airlines on this forum, I was wary of flying with them. However, I found my experience exceptionally satisfying. On this Saturday afternoon flight, I was upgraded to a business class seat which was spacious and comfortable. It did lack personal entertainment system on the back of the seat in front of you; instead you had the drop down from the ceiling screen where the safety video was played and a show screened which I did not bother. Rather outdated system. Fifteen of the 16 seats in the cabin were occupied and serviced by two very attentive attendants. Pre-take off drinks, bowl of warm nuts, a hot towel, a full dinner with a vegetarian option - I had the beef with mashed potatoes — and a good selection of alcoholic drinks made the smooth flight in a clean and bright cabin go very quickly. Pilot provided just the right amount of information in an amiable manner including letting us know that a cat was a passenger on the flight in the cargo hold. To top it all, the flight arrived at the gate several minutes ahead of schedule. One could not ask more. Good job, American!

"they didn’t have a plane"
P Meares (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Dallas to Charlotte. My flight was delayed because “they didn’t have a plane”. The delay was only explained that way. I missed my connection and have to fly out the next day. I will miss a very important meeting as a result. They offered no accommodations for there screw up. I will try to avoid flying them in the future

"treating me like dirt"
C Heller (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Pay close attention to the type of ticket you purchase or you will be penalized. I bought a ticket from a third party online, Cheap-o-Air, to attend my sister's funeral. I thought it was strange that they didn't give me a seat assignment. Then a window popped up, telling me that if I wanted to pick my seats, it would cost an additional $25 per seat for the 4 flights, an extra $100 cost. I called the airlines to find out if my flight was confirmed, since I didn't have a seat assignment. They said yes. Then, a few days later, I needed to make a change, so I called the airlines to see if I could fly stand by on an earlier flight. They told me that my ticket was a Basic Economy ticket, which means no changes, no seat assignment, no carry ons, and I must board last. Wow! Talk about treating me like dirt. I honestly do not recall seeing any of these restrictions listed when I booked the ticket. And they didn't care that I had extenuating circumstances, a close family member's funeral. I had not encountered such punitive measures before. Maybe that's because I usually fly JetBlue. In the future, I will rent a car or take the train before I fly American.
