"hope I don't have the same problem going back"

Trip Verified | 1.5 hr delay Chattanooga to Dallas. 11 hr delay Dallas to Amarillo. This is my first and probably last flight with American Airlines. Just hope I don't have the same problem going back. Plane was supposed to leave Dallas at 12.02 am but postponed til 10.53 am. Only compensation was a $12 meal voucher for the 11 hour layover.

"This airline is awful"

Not Verified | Clearwater to Mexico City via Miami. This airline is awful. We bought tickets I expect to get on the plane with no issues but we didn't, our tickets were standby. We booked to go to Mexico City at 20th December and were still in the airport looking if there's room on the plane so we can get on.

"transatlantic flight was terrible"

Trip Verified | Philadelphia to Zurich. This transatlantic flight was terrible! The interior of the aircraft was old, seats were uncomfortable and barely reclined. There was no in-seat entertainment system, they broadcast 3 'motion pictures' but none of which I could watch because the audio wasn't working at our seats 33A and 33B. Our reading light and attendant button also didn't work either. Nowhere to charge devices, relied on the airline to provide this and expectations were not met, it's 2019 and nearing 2020 and we couldn't find a USB port at our seats, even public buses have these. No entertainment, no comfort for a long-haul flight. Just a terrible transatlantic flight, we paid so much money for such an awful experience. Disappointed, dissatisfied and will not be recommending this flight to family and friends. Don't want them to experience the same issues.

"no assistance or apology"

Trip Verified | Sioux City to Chicago. Everything was going along well until 5 minutes before boarding. They announced a maintenance issue and kept pushing back departures until 8 hours delay. We missed an international flight and needed to book expensive tickets during winter holidays. There was no assistance or apology from AA.

"not be flying with AA anymore"

Trip Verified | Philadelphia to Atlanta. I arrived at this unorganized airport 2 hours early to my surprise flight # 1866 gate C19 while sitting there I hear one of the staff say I need everyone to go to gate B16. She was very rude and seemed to have an attitude. There were quite a few elderly people which none were offered assistance by wheelchair or any thing else. After walking this long distance. We started sitting down and I hear a gentleman say pardon the inconvenience we need every one to go to gate C24 following announcements on the loud speaker. I stopped an AA staff person to ask for wheelchair assistance for this elderly women and was told I have to find a porter! Now we start heading to the next gate which another announcement was made about the delay plane now being cleaned and will be heading over to the gate. We sat there about 10 to 15 mins enough time to finish my bagel and coffee. The next announcement made flight # 1866 will be departing from gate C29, this walk was not that bad, just an inconvenience especially to the elderly. We are now sitting there when the 2 female employees start calling up stand bys after stand bys Then they finally start calling group #’s up which I noticed stand by customers are boarding before me and allowed to take there rolling bags and carrying on bags. I was confused the entire time but would not express that to the staff. Then the employees now called up groups 7 -9 to check there rolling luggage in before boarding the plane. A women in front of me started to board the plane with her rolling bag and they got very nasty with her and called security. Then the female employee who was checking in bags said didn’t I announce this when I said 7-9 with carry on bags only can board the plane and rolling bags have to be checked in. I was upset due to all the gate changing, booking this unprofessional flight and now have to check my bag in after down sizing my bag in the first place, so my daughter and 1 month old grandson who I am meeting for the first time, would not have such a long wait for me! I question America Airlines unprofessionalism, the lack of empathy for the elderly and the lack of customer service from the check in staff! I will not be flying with AA anymore or booking through cheapoair anymore. These flights and all the fees attached are far too expensive to have this sort of experience. I will say going through security was the only great experience ! The TSA agents were great! But the overall experience earned from me is a 1. I will also be calling American Airlines to put in a verbal complaint and advising them to have more training with there staff.

"staff working was extremely rude"

Trip Verified | Pittsburgh to Orange County via Dallas. This is for the front desk for American Airlines at the Pittsburg Airport. The staff working was extremely rude. We finished our work meeting very early. About three hours early to be exact. I approached the check-in counter and kindly said hello. No response from this older woman. I said, "Hi, I was wondering if there are any earlier flights to Santa Ana Orange County.” She just says, "I have no idea who you are. Give me your idea". No enthusiasm, super rude. The whole conversation was like this. She told me I’m flying out of Pittsburg at 5:22PM (Obviously, I know this as it’s on my boarding pass). I asked again, “Yes, I’m trying to see if there’s an early flight to out. She just says, ”No” and prints my boarding pass. Super rude seems like she hates her job, not friendly at all. Everything else about the trip with American Airlines was great until this unpleasant woman entered the picture.

"stolen from the bag"

Trip Verified | Los Angeles to Phoenix. We were forced to check our bags at the gate due to “limited space”. We sat on the plane for 1.5 hours to be told that we need to get off and rebook since the “maintenance issues” really weren’t resolved. This was after a 1.5 hour delay on that same flight. Why put us on a plane you can’t certify???? We did manage to get the last two seats to come home to Phoenix. We’re back packers in Southeast Asia. Small back packs. Since we were forced to check our packs, we waited at baggage claim to find out that my husbands GoPro camera and Apple Watch were stolen from the bag. Do not agree to check your bags. There was more than enough space in the bins. And when we go to file a claim at phoenix sky harbor, we have a new person that was too lazy to help and another useless employee that “assisted” in handing us a paper form and saying “fill this out and good night”. So disappointed. We can’t get back the memories that are lost. Have fun with our stolen property.

"What an awful airline"

Not Verified | What an awful airline. I will never be using them again. I had my flight delay 5 times due to "airplane maintenance" and then was stuck in Charlotte for the night. I then finally got to Tri cities today just to find out that mine and my girlfriends bags were both ripped and my game console was broken. Clearly American Airlines is just awful everywhere, be it TN or NH. There are much better airlines. Spare yourself a horror story like this.

"Never fly American Airlines"

Trip Verified | Detroit to Dallas. They suck in every way. Service suck. Policies suck. Prices suck. Never fly American Airlines. I have been sitting here delayed traped on a cramped airplane for 45 minutes. They just keep telling me lies about some bag they need to get. I just went to my grandpa's funeral and I have finals tomorrow. I am unbelievably upset. They can't even tell me the real reason we are going nowhere. I will never fly with American Airlines again. I wish I could give them a big fat 0!

"book with someone else"

Not Verified | Charlotte to Las Vegas. I fly American frequently because they are so dominant in Charlotte but to be honest they suck. They have old airplanes. Overworked grouchy flight attendants and their frequent flyer program is misleading and a rip off. I took a flight to Thailand using a one world partner carrier in October and they won’t honor the miles I asked about before booking. They are horrible. If you have a choice book with someone else.
