Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport is certified as a SKYTRAX 4-Star Airport
4 January 2012 - SKYTRAX Chairman, Mr Edward Plaisted, presented the 4-Star Airport certification to Mr Sun Li, President of
Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport Company at a ceremony held inside Terminal 2 of Shanghai Hongqiao Airport on 4th
January 2012.

Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport passenger throughput in 2011 reached 33.1 million passengers. Hongqiao Airport received the 4-Star
Airport award at a time which offers the perfect opportunity to usher in the upcoming Spring Festival passenger peak.
In 2010, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport completed a five-year 15.3 billion yuan expansion project, which included a second runway and
the new Terminal 2, boosting Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport capacity to 40 million passengers a year. Terminal 2 is four times the
size of the original Terminal 1 and now houses 90 per cent of all airlines at the airport. Terminal 1 is exclusively for
international flights and for Chinese low-cost carrier Spring Airlines).
