"one of the worst meals I’ve had"

Not Verified | Tokyo to Denver. I’ve flown both trans-Atlantic and trans-pacific flights so long haul is nothing new to me. On this flight, I’d like to address the food service that United has. Airline food is a means to an end. You’re trapped in a metal tube and you eventually get hungry, so the food service is there to help pass the time. I have to say that this is one of the worst meals I’ve had while flying. The chicken was horribly dry and had some sort of paste covering it that made it inedible. The rice was also dry and crunchy. My seat mates made the same comment and eventually just covered the food back up. On other long haul flights I’ve had some sort of snack service about half way between the 2 meals but not on United. If you’re on one of United’s long haul flights, be sure to bring snacks on board!

"worst airline experience"

Trip Verified | New Orleans to Washington. Every flight I have flown with United in the past year has been delayed. They are terrible in informing passengers and are always vague with their information. Consistently the worst airline experience.

"never fly with United again"

Not Verified | Will never fly with United again, and would give 0/10 if I could. We were all boarded onto the flight, made to wait, only to deplane and be given 30 minute delay after 30 minute delay. After 2.5 hours of this, the plane was ultimately delayed by 9 hours. The flight attendant was unfriendly to the irritated passengers and did little to help reschedule flights. Also no food vouchers were given. Worst experience with an airline I've ever had.

" not allowed to sit together"

Not Verified | Gillette to Denver via Charlotte. Unbelievable, my wife and I bought our tickets 6 months ago and we were obviously placed in middle seats on different sides of the plane on purpose. We got to the gate early and we were informed we were not allowed to sit together with our fare, our 500 dollar fare. This used to never be an issue to move seats so family can sit together. This airline is budget trash now and we will never fly United again.

"experience was horrible"

Trip Verified | London Heathrow to Newark return, and both flights were delayed. My experience with United Airlines was horrible. The first one was delayed about 2,5h because the pilot couldn't reach the airport (problems could happen, I understand) and then because the aircraft needed maintenance. But the worst thing happened from Newark to London where the flight was delayed about 5h because, again, aircraft maintenance. After an overall 8h delays in two flights, their horrible customer care could only offer me a useless e voucher(expires in one year, I am not from USA and might not come back within one year) that doesn't really match the real cost. I can understand they can have problems, but they have to change compensation policies. You cannot offer me an evoucher in order to oblige me to fly with you again. Not recommended at all, I'll try to stay away from this company.

"Tired little plane again"

Trip Verified | Houston to Newark. Same problem with the menu as with our flight from Sydney to Houston. Ran out of a dish by the time the staff got to me - there were only 16 people in business, 6 of those children so I had to have one of the snack boxes from economy. I don’t understand. You know how many people are booked so how hard is it to have both options available? Staff very helpful and polite. Not his fault I know. Tired little plane again with tired and very well used amenities. No internal entertainment on this flight either. Bad luck if you did not have a tablet or phone to use the United App. You need to up your game United and quick.

"Very sad experience"

Trip Verified | While flying from Reno to Los Angeles they ask us to put our carry-ons down the airplane. We did. As soon as we looked for them, after the flight, my husband’s carry-on was all mashed and rotten. I told the person in charge that “please next time be careful because look what happened”, he looked, didn’t say anything and totally ignored us. Very disappointed with his attitude and not even an apologize. Very sad experience, we will never trust United Airlines with our baggage.

"terrible experience overall"

Trip Verified | San Antonio to Appleton. A terrible experience overall. The airline will get you from point A to point B but it will be very uncomfortable. The aircraft in the fleet are tiny. Most adults do not fit comfortably in the seats and many could not stand up inside the aircraft without hitting their heads on the low ceiling. There is also very little storage space on the plane. I am considering buying a one way ticket with another airline for the trip home because United aircraft are so uncomfortable. They claim the small aircraft are more economical because of cheaper fuel costs due to reduced weight and better aerodynamics, but other airlines use larger aircraft and provide far better service for only a few dollars more.

"tired facilities and tired staff"

Trip Verified | Sydney to New York via Houston. What a tired airplane with tired facilities and tired staff. The seats were so close to the isle I had to make sure my arm was inside the seat. Food when it came was great but when asked what my selection was from the menu I was told that I would be put on a waiting list to see if my choices were available I assume after feeding first class first which I have never heard of before. I asked for a bottle of water and was told due to cut backs it was one bottle per person per trip but they could refill it. Breakfast, I was told off by the stewardess who was super stressed during the flight, because I did not eat my corn flakes which she had to tell another passenger she could not have so I could eat them! My god, I paid over $7000 for a seat on this airplane to be told off because I did not eat my corn flakes! The bathrooms were so small I did not even bother to change my clothes not only because I could not move but there was either water or urine on the floor. Maybe I am spoiled as I have flown business with Qatar Airways and Emerites and they are spacious planes with stewards that are not stressed with big bathrooms that are cleaned regularly and a menu that when you ask for something that’s is on the menu you are not told you will be waitlisted. Selection of movies very old. No new releases. No offer of any magazines or papers nothing. So I sit here at Houston waiting to board for the next leg of my journey hoping and praying it’s better than the one from Sydney or I won’t be flying with United long haul again.

"Horrible, horrible experience"

Trip Verified | Nashville to Houston. Absolutely horrible. Time management is little to none. No staff updated on delay after delay after delay. Our flight was scheduled to leave at 6:25 and after one hour sitting on the plane we weren’t told a single thing about the status of the flight. Very unprofessional staff and crew. Horrible, horrible experience.
