"the worst customer service"

Trip Verified | Newark to Mumbai. United airlines had the worst customer service on the ground. I flew on Christmas. But even accounting for the holiday rush, their services were just unbelievably bad! To begin with, they had a common check-in for ALL flights. To add to the chaos, everybody was supposed to check-in at the kiosk and there was absolutely nobody to help in case somebody got stuck. At one point 5 out of 6 kiosks were unable to complete the check-in, stranding people behind. There was a separate queue for travel assistance, which had about 20-30 people waiting and only 1 counter was available for assistance. It took us about 1 hour 45 min to complete the check in and reach the security. On another note, I was traveling with my boyfriend and we wanted our seats together. We had selected the seats immediately after booking our tickets. The seats got reshuffled three times due to "a change in the plane" and "the system" reshuffled the seats such that our seats got separated. United surely needs to fix their "system" that is unable to do a simple one-to-one mapping and is somehow adding a random factor on its own. I hope United fixes these issues soon.

"United is worthless"

Not Verified | We paid $350 for my 12 year old to fly from Houston to Amsterdam with their unaccompanied minor program. The united attendant did not pay attention while they were in the baggAGe area and my son picked up an identical suitcase. I spent hours on our vacation trying to get the suitcase back to the true owners. They even had all their Christmas presents in there. Could never find anyone at United to escalate to. Had to buy overpriced clothes for my son. United is worthless. If they weren’t watching the baggage pick up - what else were they not watching.

"Get your act together"

Not Verified | Los Angeles to Kona. First since we booked through Air Canada and rerouted to United they refused us access in the lounge at the airport. There were six other first class guests who had the same issue as us on the flight. The 737 was old and did not have TVs, it was suggested we could download the United app since it would allow us access to Internet. Problem was it would not be accessible for about two hours of the trip. We were told United was removing all unnecessary weight from planes to allow for more seating and storage. Since just about everyone now days travels with a mobile device it was not something they felt clients needed. First of all we do not pay all that extra to fly in a stripped Dow situation. It is bad enough they have reduced the number of washrooms and the one at the front is in constant us from people in economy. The aisles are filled with people and the staff precariously avoiding them will trying to serve. What is the benefit now, wider seats, a $12.00 meal and a few glasses of inexpensive wine. Even your luggage which has a priority comes out at with everyone else's. Get your act together or change the statis to Elite Economy.

"indifferent and unaccomodating"

Trip Verified | Honolulu to San Francisco. There were two staff members. First one was most rude and you could feel the anxiety in the air, she made us wait with my nieces’ belongings to “organize” it so it that we could carry it down the loading aisle, she continued to bombard my sister about the ticket for my niece when she is a lap child, stupidity. When we boarded the plane a stewardess had no idea what she was doing. I was flying with my sister and her 20 month old child and there was tons of seats available and our tickets had us separated but apparently it is too much of an inconvenience to let me sit with them from row 43 to row 37 - initially she said it was fine and then changed her mind and made me move all my belongings and sit in my initial seat and now my sister is alone without aid, (despite her being a strong mom that I know could handle the situation but anybody with children will always appreciate the extra hand). Anyways she was indifferent and unaccomodating to the situation and used whatever power she thought she had to control the situation. Unfortunately, these two employees made your business look bad today and your company has to suffer due to their inadequacies and pure ridiculousness.

"one of the worst meals I’ve had"

Not Verified | Tokyo to Denver. I’ve flown both trans-Atlantic and trans-pacific flights so long haul is nothing new to me. On this flight, I’d like to address the food service that United has. Airline food is a means to an end. You’re trapped in a metal tube and you eventually get hungry, so the food service is there to help pass the time. I have to say that this is one of the worst meals I’ve had while flying. The chicken was horribly dry and had some sort of paste covering it that made it inedible. The rice was also dry and crunchy. My seat mates made the same comment and eventually just covered the food back up. On other long haul flights I’ve had some sort of snack service about half way between the 2 meals but not on United. If you’re on one of United’s long haul flights, be sure to bring snacks on board!

"worst airline experience"

Trip Verified | New Orleans to Washington. Every flight I have flown with United in the past year has been delayed. They are terrible in informing passengers and are always vague with their information. Consistently the worst airline experience.

"never fly with United again"

Not Verified | Will never fly with United again, and would give 0/10 if I could. We were all boarded onto the flight, made to wait, only to deplane and be given 30 minute delay after 30 minute delay. After 2.5 hours of this, the plane was ultimately delayed by 9 hours. The flight attendant was unfriendly to the irritated passengers and did little to help reschedule flights. Also no food vouchers were given. Worst experience with an airline I've ever had.

" not allowed to sit together"

Not Verified | Gillette to Denver via Charlotte. Unbelievable, my wife and I bought our tickets 6 months ago and we were obviously placed in middle seats on different sides of the plane on purpose. We got to the gate early and we were informed we were not allowed to sit together with our fare, our 500 dollar fare. This used to never be an issue to move seats so family can sit together. This airline is budget trash now and we will never fly United again.

"experience was horrible"

Trip Verified | London Heathrow to Newark return, and both flights were delayed. My experience with United Airlines was horrible. The first one was delayed about 2,5h because the pilot couldn't reach the airport (problems could happen, I understand) and then because the aircraft needed maintenance. But the worst thing happened from Newark to London where the flight was delayed about 5h because, again, aircraft maintenance. After an overall 8h delays in two flights, their horrible customer care could only offer me a useless e voucher(expires in one year, I am not from USA and might not come back within one year) that doesn't really match the real cost. I can understand they can have problems, but they have to change compensation policies. You cannot offer me an evoucher in order to oblige me to fly with you again. Not recommended at all, I'll try to stay away from this company.

"Tired little plane again"

Trip Verified | Houston to Newark. Same problem with the menu as with our flight from Sydney to Houston. Ran out of a dish by the time the staff got to me - there were only 16 people in business, 6 of those children so I had to have one of the snack boxes from economy. I don’t understand. You know how many people are booked so how hard is it to have both options available? Staff very helpful and polite. Not his fault I know. Tired little plane again with tired and very well used amenities. No internal entertainment on this flight either. Bad luck if you did not have a tablet or phone to use the United App. You need to up your game United and quick.
