"Avoid them at all cost"

Trip Verified | Cancun to San Francisco. The absolute worst airline I have ever flown. I booked these flights months ago and have literally had nothing but problems since. To start out after well over twelve hours between on the phone and Facebook messenger (because god forbid they actually respond on the post they send you a private message to try and resolve. After all this time they said they had everything fixed then when we go to finally start our vacation they changed seats on my wife and I and we were no longer together (oh yeah and they were no help again) next flight was fine from Houston the Cancún. Leaving Cancún to San Francisco they told us to just keep our Duty Free with us that they didn’t need it. Upon arriving to San Francisco we are told we have to collect our bags and recheck them - and we have to be able to fit 4 bottles of alcohol in 1 checked bag that was already over stuffed. (United also charges for every checked back so no I know why, they get to make another 50.00 for an additional checked bag), after being sent to several different representatives by United personnel we ended up 30 minutes later back to the same one who gladly checked another bag (at that wonderful charge) My United Mileage Plus card will be cancelled tomorrow. United Airlines is absolutely horrible, they will take more and more and give the consumer less each time. Oh by the way Cancún to San Francisco left at almost 6:00 p.m. and was 6 hours they didn’t even offer a snack. Avoid them at all cost look around there are much better airlines.

"wait 5 hours for mechanics"

Not Verified | Dulles to Plattsburgh. There were issues with the plane to Plattsburgh NY when arriving on flight from Orlando. We had to wait 5 hours for mechanics to arrive from Detroit. I would think being located in the nation's capital you would have mechanics on site. I'll pass on flying United in the future.

"flight attendants did a good job"

Not Verified | Sydney to Houston. I was told that I could use either the Singapore or Air New Zealand Lounge. I chose the Singapore Lounge and enjoyed the bacon and eggs and Champagne at 9:45 am. The Business cabin seating is 2-2-2, which makes sleeping on one's side and back comfortable but very tight when sleeping on my front. There was an excellent selection of movies to chose from. The salad was very small and no food was served for a good eleven hours--just lunch after takeoff and breakfast before landing. I would suggest more options in the galley. The fasten seatbelt sign came on many times during the flight with the recorded announcement, "please fasten your seatbelt." I was really happy that they did not make announcements in a second or third language which can make sleeping with United very difficult. The flight attendants did a good job and had a sense of humor but it was an older crew. The flight arrived 20 minutes late so I only had 40 minutes go through Immigration and Customs, claim my suitcase, go through security and transfer from Terminal E to Terminal C for my next flight to Orlando, but I boarded with Group 5 and made the flight.

"worst airline I have ever seen"

Trip Verified | Las Vegas to Rochester via Washington DC. I have never seen some thing like this in my life. They have changed the flight schedule 6 times so far (I’m still at the airport and still there is a possibility for another change). At the beginning departure from DC was at 8:25 am then changed respectively to 10:00 am, 12:20, 12:40, again 12:20, 12:45 and finally 1:30pm and God knows if they are gonna change it again or not because right now the time is 1:35pm and they have not announced any thing for boarding yet. I think United is the worst airline I have ever seen. This is my last flight with United ever(if it happens at all)

"had many bad experiences"

Trip Verified | Chicago to Kansas city. Given a chance would rate 0 for this airline. I had many bad experiences with this airlines but today was the worst till date. I had an email/text saying that they might experience delays and I called customer service for alternate options and nothing seemed to workout and so I decided to cancel the flight and go ahead with some other options available and they said they won’t refund until they cancel the flight and they gave me the worst options and made me stay at the airport for almost 12 hours transferring here and there almost 5 times delaying all my plans planned ahead

"missing my connecting flight"

Trip Verified | My flight was scheduled to leave at 6:30am from Cleveland. We sat on the airplane for 2 1/2 hours with incorrect and misleading updates coming every 30 minutes. We were told that the airplane needed an oil change and that we would only be delayed 30 minutes. After missing my connecting flight I went to customer service and was told if I hurry I can make it to the flight that was still boarding to make it to my destination. Was turned away at the gate saying they didn’t make accommodations for everyone on my previous flight. When I expressed that I was directed to that gate from customer service I was told that the previous person was mistaken and I was going to have to wait until 2:45. Putting me at my final destination 5 hours behind schedule. Making me miss my ride and events planned ahead of time. Board and crew were nice on the first flight but all of the misscommunication between what was going on while we sat on the tarmac and once getting to the Houston airport was awful.

"bad luck of flying with United"

Trip Verified | Oklahoma City to Washington. Today I had the seemingly bad luck of flying with United. After getting to the airport I found out my flight was cancelled. Once I found out I went to the nearest United ticket counter but on the way ran into a gate agent who said "you should have known the flight was cancelled since 1pm." I responded sorry I was at work I didn't know. She tells me her plane is arriving which wasn't at the gate refused to help and does a slight jog to the gate and tells me to go back through security to the ticket desk. Once I get to ticketing outside of security the agent simply keeps repeating that "flight is cancelled due to weather". She reluctantly says after me asking repeatedly what does that mean, that I have to get myself a hotel for the night. She doesn't offer me any kind of information on how or who to call. She just ask if i was from there and I said no. After I ask another agent what does this mean she hands me a pink form with number and how to get a hotel. I then go back through security and once I look at the board I see a flight that will get me out of OKC with these very unhelpful United Employees. I call customer service and they rebook me on the IAH flight so I can get out of OKC and guess whose gate it is... The gate agent who says she was so busy even though the plane had not arrived and was being very dismissive The agent on the phone checked me in and I had them on speaker phone. I explained that to her and she goes policy is we can't let you on the flight because it's too close to departure. The same lady that told me I should have known in our previous encounter says says "you should have called earlier." I emphatically explain how when I'm checked in already and I'm on the phone with a United Employee. He was on speakerphone "are they not letting you board? You are checked in." She again says no and to talk to her supervisor and points. She says it's policy but then reluctantly walks over and let's me board as if she was doing me a favor. Apparently policy didn't matter then and I wish the ordeal stopped there. When I get on the plane all of the bins are closed so I ask where can I put my bag. As far as I am concerned it could have been checked. The flight attendant gives me a bewildered how do I know look and ask what seat I'm in. It really didnt matter when I'm one of the last people on the plane and all bins are closed. I go to my seat and open multiple bins only for her to to walk back and open one bin that has room and wasn't by my seat.

"outrageous practices they employ"

Trip Verified | Houston to Ft Lauderdale. I booked a flight for myself and my wife 3 months out. I Upgraded to first class for an additional 400 dollars each ticket. I called back a week later to change my flight because our accommodations cancelled. They claimed that prices had changed and wanted to refund me $128.00 per ticket to go back to economy class instead of crediting me the S400 I paid per ticket. They also said that if i wanted to change the dates there would be a $200 dollar per ticket change fee plus an additional $200 dollars per ticket to get the same first class tickets one week later. This airline should be investigated for the outrageous practices they employ!

"Rerouted three times"

Trip Verified | Los Angeles to Arcata via San Francisco. Return trip miserable. Rerouted three times, all delayed. Luggage sent to wrong airport despite my checking on it three times with Baggage Claim and gate reps. 7 hours late. Never ever again.

"Cabin Crew were extremely unprofessional"

Trip Verified | I was travelling with United to Denver International from London Heathrow. Cabin Crew were extremely unprofessional, they dropped a couple of items from my dinner tray as well as cutlery. Discourteous and non considerate at all. They didn’t apologise and left me picking the items up. As well as this they locked the dimmable windows from when I boarded the plane and after multiple requests from myself and others they finally unlocked the windows so people could look out. It seemed as if they didn’t know how to use the equipment and the Cabin Crews Customer Service was horrendous.
