"will never use United again"

Trip Verified | Hartford to Des Moines via Chicago. So, my daughter and I went to Iowa from Connecticut to visit my son. When we went to retrieve our luggage, my daughters never showed up. We spoke with someone at baggage claim and they filed a claim and said it must’ve gone somewhere else. We had purchased items just for this trip, now we have to not only replace the items we bought but now we have to purchase her all new clothes. We spent money we hadn’t budgeted for and when we returned home we were told that her luggage was found and it went to Albuquerque, NM. She sent in her receipts and received her luggage, finally, only to find that they had damaged the suitcase. They called and she was work so she asked me to call them back. The automated system does not make it easy to get a human being and then I finally get a human from another country who can barely speak English. He let me know that it will be 6-8 weeks for them to review the case. So United sent her luggage to another state, we had to spend money we hadn’t budgeted for and they broke her luggage and now we have to wait to get our money back. I will never use United again..

"horrendous customer service"

Trip Verified | On April 19, 2019 we were scheduled to fly from New Orleans to Newark at 1:10P.M. I received no communication from United, none at all indicating there was any change in the schedule. I printed out our boarding passes in advance, got to the airport 2 hours before flight time, went through security and to the gate with noone at any time saying the flight was cancelled. When we got to the gate, the board said the flight was cancelled. Noone from United was even there to assist us, to help us reschedule. We were left on our own. Thank God Delta personnel were in the terminal at another gate and were so helpful to us. If we left it to United, we would still be there. They didn't are at all about their customers. Because of United's horrendous customer service, we had to wait 8 hours and then fly back with Delta and fly into LaGuardia thereby incurring another $100 expense to get to Newark at 1:00A.M. in the morning of the next day. I contacted Customer Service and I requested $470.00 which is exactly one half of the total price paid for the roundtrip. All they have offered is a $75.00 travel voucher. In the future, I would rather pay more with Delta than fly with the unfriendly skies of United!

"Paid for seat, refuse to assign"

Not Verified | Nashville to San Francisco. Paid for seat, refuse to assign. I have a reservation for Oct 6, 2019. I paid for a seat months ago. I have called three times to confirm my seat assignment. Each time, I am told that I cannot get a seat assigned. During my second call, a Supervisor said that he assigned me a seat and ended the call, but I found out that he lied when I called back to confirm a third time. I have been on the phone with them an hour and a half during my third call bit am being told that others are being assigned seats but one cannot be assigned to me even though I paid for one.

Trip Verified | The worst thing that can happen when you travel international is loosing your passport. My flight was Montreal - Newark - Myrtle Beach, I forgot mine in the magazine compartment in front of me on the flight to Myrtle Beach. I realize that 20 feet past the gate so I try to go back to the plane, I cannot it’s the law, ok I get it! The girl at the counter communicated with another one in the plane, after 3 messages I hear passport negative for seat 10f. I can’t believe it, it was just in front of the seat in the magazine compartment, the girl at the counter is 0 help and that’s it, it’s not there. It’s a passport not earphone, kind of important when you travel internationally! A couple of days later my passport is found at Chicago airport, so it was in the plane and the girl just did not check properly, I had to rebook domestic to Burlington for 300$ and have someone pick me up there and pass Canadian custom by car to enter Canada without a passport, worst customer service I can imagine, they just didn’t care! I don’t think I will ever fly United ever again. I cannot understand how someone can be so unhelpful with something as important as a passport especially since I knew exactly where it was United never again.

Trip Verified | Los Angeles to Sydney. I had a fantastic surprise when I boarded the 787 and that was an upgrade to premium economy which was extremely appreciated as I am over six foot tall. The extra leg room, the seat position over the wing, combined with the great service and enjoyable meals, even a glass of wine, made for a wonderful trip back to Australia, thank you United.

"don’t fly United"

Trip Verified | Houston to Milwaukee. Negatives: Not comfortable seating, ticket prices are more expensive than most airlines, can only bring 1 carry on and 1 personal bag for free, must pay to check a bag, no leg room on plane, flight attendants were not friendly Positives: ...I honestly can’t think of any... Story: “The flight attendants are not here to provide you beverages and snacks, they are here for your safety” -Captain. That was how the captain, greeted everyone after everyone had been seated. If you’re looking for seats with barely any cushion to them and the most unorganized crew members, fly United. While it was only a 2 hour plane ride to and from I will definitely never be flying United ever again. The bus ride from the airport to the rental car place had WAY more comfortable seating than the plane and it’s not like you can reserve what kind of plane you want. So for my 6” 4 boyfriend he couldn’t even sit up fully or his head would hit the ceiling. Then when we landed there was no one there to open the gate for us. So we had to wait that much longer for the whoever to figure it out. Point blank don’t fly United.

"didn’t feel like helping"

Trip Verified | The people in Newark were helpful since we were unable to book our flights in the same seats. My 4 year old daughter was moved it a seat next to my husband and that was great. When we arrived at SFO I asked for either me or my husband to be moved next to her and they refused. Said I had to wait at least an hour before boarding to move seats. When I asked about our seats boarding was set to being in just 20 min, I mentioned that and the lady at gate 77C just walked away. So yeah now I’m stuck with my 4 year old sitting next to starters because someone didn’t feel like helping.

Not Verified | Denver to Charleston. The flight had several delays and unlike Frontier when we finally arrived to the airport they did not allow people with close connecting flights to exit first. They also did not call ahead to the connecting flights like other airlines to allow passengers to still board. Then when I finally get to the gate five minutes late they would not allow us to board. We had to go all the way back to customer service which was not close for assistance

"facing yet another delay"

Trip Verified | Lake Charles to Houston via Corpus Christi. Original flight delayed over an hour. Show up an hour before the delayed time and told the plane already left. Was blamed for not showing up at the original time. Why would a system that sends an email and text saying the flight is delayed not send an alert saying the delay no longer applies? I dont know and neither did the ticket representative rather than to say it was my fault. So I here I am at the airport 4 hours later facing yet another delay with no idea of the flight is actually delayed or not.

"they were no help at all"

Not Verified | Missoula MT to LaGuardia NY with United Airlines. Extremely disappointed in this airline, 1.5 hours in the air with not even water and there was no turbulence. WIFI very sketchy, unfriendly staff. Small seats, Flight home they separated my husband and I into two different aisle middle seats. We booked this flight 6 months ago. When asked prior to boarding for help switching they were no help at all and that I would have to figure it out on board. Once I board I asked the stewardess to help me see if someone would switch and she said she does not do this. I expressed that I was terribly afraid to fly and did not want to sit near strangers. Absolutely will avoid this airlines in the near future.
