"22 hours at airports"

(France)

Trip Verified | Bangkok to Gold Coast via Singapore on 29 January. The first flight from Bangkok to Singapore was all right, I had a stopover around 4 hours in Singapore to take my second flight. The plane took off at 10.40 pm (Singapore local time), and was supposed to arrived at 8:10 am on the 30 of January. But, after 2h30 the pilot inform us he decided to turn back to Singapore, because of a small crack in the window. We didn’t receive more information. We couldn’t reach the wifi to contact our friends and family to explain them the situation. After 2h30 we arrived in Singapore again. We had to wait 2 hours in the airport in the middle of the night (4:45am to 6:45am, Singapore hours), all tired, stress, and angry. For all of this inconvenience we received a small bag with snacks and a small bottle of water, so not even a proper meal. We finally arrive at Gold Coast airport at 2:10pm (Singapore hours) instead of 8:10am. So with a delay of more than 7 hours and with all of the inconvenience I suffered, I reclaimed them a refund of my flight but they just answered me "that's not our politic, but we will provide you a 50$ voucher". I Spent in total 16 hours on a plane and 22 hours at airports, for a one way ticket I paid 715AUD$, and I get a 50$ voucher, It’s scandalous! So I you're hesitate with different company for your next flight, think about it twice before choosing the cheapest one or the easy one, check all of the review on internet and you'll see I am not the only one who had such a awful experience with them.

"worst airline we have flown"

(Australia)

Trip Verified | Singapore to Perth. The worst airline we have flown. We knew it was a budget airline, but did not expect to have to pay for Everything, from using our own device to watch entertainment, and did not supply any earphones, our welcome drink into business, was a small plastic container of water. Told we were allowed 1 free drink, asked for a gin and tonic. Told We would have to pay for the tonic water, as that would be Classed as 2 drinks. If we wanted to charge our device to watch the entertainment had to pay $5 to borrow a plug. No tea or coffee after the meal, had to pay $4 if we wanted a cup. Pillow or blanket $5.each This was Scoot biz!

"ultra low cost in all aspects"

(Netherlands)

Trip Verified | Honolulu to Osaka for a base fare of 80 USD, so I shouldn’t complain. There are some things to consider if you fly with Scoot. It’s ultra low cost in all aspects. Long lines for check-in which took about an hour. My bag was 20,8 kg and my hand luggage 5 kg. I had to shift some luggage to my hand luggage to prevent paying for overweight. In the end it doesn’t matter because the same weight is going onboard. No wonder it took ages at check-in if they do this for everyone. I paid extra for the quiet ‘child free’ cabin in front of the aircraft. Rows 4 to 8 are supposed to be quiet but it doesn’t add any value because there’s no bulkhead and with kids seated in rows 9 and 10 I wouldn’t call it a quiet cabin. They strictly enforce the ‘no own food and drinks’ policy onboard. Like a strict teacher a member of the cabin crew passed by every few minutes to tell passengers they were not allowed to eat food not purchased onboard. This was forbidden according to Singapore law. Just a lame excuse because there is no such law and it’s just a company policy to generate more revenue. Don’t order meals online because you pay 15 US Dollar, while onboard it will cost you only 15 Singapore Dollar. I ordered a hot meal and a soft drink onboard. According to their menu it costs 18 SD, because you get 1 SD discount when you order a meal and a drink in once. I was charged 19 SD. I told them it should be 18 SD but they insisted it was 15 for the meal and 4 for the drink. Pointed them to their own menu and then I got the excuse that I should have ordered the combo deal instead of the meal and the drink. They simply do not think logically because it’s exactly the same. In the end I paid 18. There’s no IFE onboard, not even a screen with the flight time, arrival time, etc. The only entertainment is looking out of the window, which they also ruin because immediately after takeoff the windows are blinded until shortly before landing. Maybe this kind of airline works in Asia, but in Europe or the USA they wouldn’t get a feet on the ground.

"spurious cancellation fee"

(United States)

Trip Verified | Manila to Singapore. Don't fly Singapore if the connector airline is Scoot! As a frequent flyer to Asia, I have flown Singapore Airlines ever since 1994, and have been delighted. Scoot agents (not wearing any name tags) and its call center are unprofessional, heartless, untrustworthy, lacking of common sense or courtesy, and a disgrace to the once proud Singapore brand. My wife was at Clark Airport near Angeles City in the Philippines, trying to take a short flight to Singapore so that she could connect with the flight back home to San Francisco. Scoot personnel would not let her board her flight, without paying 90 dollars for a "mysterious" and spurious cancellation fee. She never cancelled. The agent had issued the tickets, there wasn't any rescheduling, but, they insisted. This was a scam to get her to pay them 90 more than likely. She did not have the money, she had spent all of her money on family in the Philippines. Why would she show up at airport if she cancelled? You can't just cancel a roundtrip, you must reschedule, or there would be flags and notifications everywhere. The flight from Singapore was still valid, and they didn't know of any cancellation. Spent two hours on a conference call with our ticketing agent and Scoot call-center. They kept saying there was a charge, but for what, there never was a cancellation. Even the manager couldn't do anything. He said that I had to write an email to the sales department, can't call, and await response!

"horrible for short haul"

(United Kingdom)

Trip Verified | Kuala Lumpur to Sydney via Singapore with Scoot. Good low-cost airline for long haul flights, horrible for short haul. While the short haul flight had the least leg space I ever had (it was not possible for me to fit my legs in the row) and was delayed by 2 hours, the long haul flights in the 788 and 789 are quite good. While food and inflight entertainment is not included, the prices inflight for lunch or snacks are fine and the legroom was fine. Service in Changi airport is always top.

"flight was comfortable"

(Australia)

Trip Verified | My first flight with Scoot. I was very sceptical and worried due to many negative reviews I saw on the Internet. But good experience overall. The flight was comfortable and cabin crew helpful and smiling. The aircraft was changed from TR3 to 777-200 leased from Singapore Air but this was informed well in advance. The negatives were that flight was delayed on departure by 45 minutes and same to Hyderabad. Luckily there were no terminals to be changed and my connecting flight from Hyderabad was after 5 hours gap hence saved. Another thing missing was the inflight entertainment.

"It was a good experience"

(Singapore)

Not Verified | Singapore to Perth. It was a good experience flying Scoot on their Boeing 787. The ScootBiz cabin is very spacious and the service was really great despite we had to pre-order our food. From check in to boarding it was smooth. No delays at all. All in all I will definitely fly on ScootBiz again.

"delayed 8 hours in Melbourne"

(Australia)

Trip Verified | Flight delayed 8 hours in Melbourne which meant I missed my connecting flight to Bangkok. Was told I could wait 24 hours in Singapore for a connecting flight to Bangkok or wait 2 days in Australia for another flight. Chose to take the delayed flight to Singapore and fly Jetstar. Offered $50 voucher for 8 hour delay in Melbourne but still have not got it. I don't care about delayed flight it can happen with any airline but I should be refunded the flight from Singapore to Bangkok. Have rang many times and they just hang up on you.

"never again Scoot"

(Australia)

Trip Verified | Bangkok to Sydney via Singapore. Scoot cancelled our first leg of the flight - Bangkok to Singapore, without any reason or explanation and wouldn't even tell us when we were flying next until our third phone call! The lack of response was crazy. We finally got our delayed flight to Singapore the next day (and had to pay another night at a hotel as well as $70 in calling fees as they took so long). When we got to Singapore they still would not confirm our next flight. After a lot of persistence for 3 hours at Transfer desk they finally wrote a piece of paper with the flight no. and date, but no time or reference number to confirm we are definitely on that flight! We also paid for business class and they said all flights are full by the time we got there because we came on our"delayed" flight which was their fault. Then they said to get our luggage at "Lost and Found" to stay overnight, and when we finally got there they couldn't find our luggage for 45 minutes!I'm still in Singapore now waiting for confirmation. I really need to get back home and they still won't confirm that I can definitely make it home by then! I can't believe the way they've treated everyone who's been messed around by their cancelled flights in Bangkok. Yet they're still not taking responsibility. I thought I'd try Scoot as they seemed not "too bad" and I took a chance, but never again Scoot.

"it was a very bad experience"

(Australia)

Trip Verified | Flew Hyderabad to Sydney via Singapore with Scoot. First they delayed the flight by 18hrs, changed our meal options, seating options and then at the airport the gate changed 2 times. Traveling with senior citizens and a 5 year old it was a very bad experience.
