Trip Verified | Very good experience. Nice people and what a aircraft! Had a 14 hour fight but enjoyed every moment of it. The plane was nice and modern - thank you American Airlines

"I fly Delta for a reason"

Not Verified | I'll start by saying I fly Delta for a reason. We are in the plane and ready to take off and the bathrooms don't work. They tell us it will take 30 minutes to complete the paperwork but hold your bladder. So we started watching a movie. And they decided to push commercials on the screen as we sat in the plan. Next was the credit card push with a 10 minute announcement. I'm sorry but I'll take an extra stop on Delta than deal with this mickey mouse company

"been given the complete run around"

Trip Verified | Cancun to Nashville via Charlotte. Worst airline ever to be so expensive. Flight was delayed so we missed our connection. American Airlines didn’t do anything to accommodate this situation and we have been given the complete run around. I will never use them again .

"treat their passengers like garbage"

Not Verified | I have been a loyal American Airlines passenger since 2007. I flew with them for both business travel and my personal travel. In the last 2 years or so, their customer service has plummeted. My final straw was this morning when, to not fault of AA, I missed my flight by one minute because of a delay in the Queens Tunnel and the TSA baggage screening system breaking down and chaos happening. However, their gate agent, was one of the most unhelpful, rude and downright hateful persons I have ever met. This is the third time in a row I have had to email a complaint because AA employees treat their passengers like garbage. I carry their credit card, I'm usually a Platinum or higher flyer and I currently have over 500,000 miles to show for my loyalty. I am now going to switch to Delta, where I have no status, because I will no longer give my money to a company that treats their passengers the way American does time and time again. I suggest anyone reading this do the same.

"Spirit is even better than this"

"will not refund my ticket"

"hesitant to ever fly them again"

Trip Verified | Ironically, American was EARLY on all of their flights, which alleviated a huge worry because of all the horror stories I've heard. The staff were friendly enough and basic services were offered (even on an extremely short flight), but my biggest issue was just how uncomfortable American's planes are. I'm 6'2" and legroom ranged from acceptable, to downright awful. The seats themselves were simply some of the most uncomfortable I've ever experienced. I know the CRJ Series is not known for its comfort, but I've flown Delta's version, and it was far more comfortable than American's product. Also, the in-flight entertainment was clunky and straight-up didn't work on one of my flights. So in short, American got me where I needed to go on time, but the level of discomfort makes me hesitant to ever fly them again, especially if it is a longer flight.

"I did not choose American - I know they are awful"

Trip Verified | I did not choose American - I know they are awful. It was attached to my Alaska Airlines flight. I had requested wheelchair assistance - it all went off without a hitch flying into Dallas - however there was a chair with no person to move said chair. And I’m being asked to produce a ticket I don't have - I get a little louder and say “I do not have a ticket I need it printed at the Alaska gate”, the awful gate staff member starts on me - meanwhile the only person who comprehends the fact that I’m not flying American, they are just a filler airline is also being dismissed by staff member! It’s bad enough to fly when you are in pain, but to be demeaned by an ignorant member of staff is horrible!

"pay for a bag to carry on the plane"

Trip Verified | I have flown with American Airlines before and have never had a problem until this last time I flew. My mother paid for my ticket - it was a birthday gift and a month before I was to fly out they changed the times. No big deal but when they've done this in the past they changed them back they did not change the times back as they always did and when my mother called to ask them why they were not changing the times back to the original time the gentleman informed her it was $800 to change the times back but American Airlines are the ones that changed the times to begin with so why would you charge someone $800 to get those times back. I then get to the airport the lady asked me if I had any check-in bags or just a carry-on bag I have a little carry-on bag and another little case I asked her very clearly if I needed to have the carry-on bag checked in she said no they both can be considered a carry-on so I go to my gate as I'm getting ready to board the plane the lady informs me I cannot have a carry-on, my little case and my purse I informed her that the woman downstairs said it was okay this woman wanted to charge me $2,700 to have my carry-on, my little case and my purse I have never in my life heard of something so ridiculous I of course did not pay that kind of money I don't have that kind of money I told her I've never had an issue why this is becoming an issue now is beyond me and to want somebody to pay for a bag to carry on the plane is ridiculous. I don't think I will be flying with you guys ever again.

"hesitant to ever fly American again"

Trip Verified | American Airlines cancelled my flight, due to not having enough flight attendants and then shipped my bag to the wrong place. I had to pay for a hotel, and was never reimbursed because their voucher machine was not working at the time. I never received my bag after filing two claims, and was never refunded for almost $3000 worth of snowboarding gear and clothes. They made me go through a whole process of filling out every item I had in the bag along with receipts of every item over $100 dollars and expected me to complete it within weeks of receiving the form, as if that is all I have to spend my time on. They would not even look for the bag until I completed the form. Overall a terrible experience and I am hesitant to ever fly American again if this is how they treat their customers.
