Weipa to Cairns. We travelled on the "Pink Link" Breast Cancer plane, of which the cabin crew were
more than welcome to explain why it is pink and the airlines partnership with Breast Cancer. Both
cabin crew were efficient, friendly and professional - and more than happy to assist. Although I
requested a coffee, the steward brought back the coffee and to my delighted surprise accompanying
this was a gourmet chocolate cookie which I gladly accepted. Its the little things that make a
world of difference, and this is very evident in the attention to detail and outstanding service
which was provided. Once onboard I was also offered the exit row as this was unoccupied. The
flight departed early and arrived early into Cairns. The cabin and toilet were very clean. Perhaps
its because not many people travel to Weipa, as aircraft was almost empty, only 10 of us. Overall a
great airline and an unforgettable flying experience. A great Australian airline demonstrating the
true Spirit of Australia.

BNE-GLA-ROK-MKY return and BNE-Thangool/Biloela return on Qantaslink. I think Qantaslink is the best
airline within the Qantas Group. Attentive service from young hard working flight attendants. Good
modern aircraft with BNE-MKY and return on the Bombardier Q400 and BNE Thangool (Central Queensland)
on a Dash 8-300. Good snacks and wine served. Only annoying aspect was the loud pop music coming
from the overhead speakers before take off on each flight leg. A passenger behind me referred to
this as 'terrible 1980s pap' and that just about sums it up. Why some airlines pay for such input
and persist with this policy just amazes me. Apart from that aspect, I can recommend Qantaslink on
regional services within Australia.

CBR-SYD Economy Class. Qantas and QantasLink's CityFlyer services are a refreshing change from the
usual shuttle service. Despite a flying time of 35 minutes, the 737 cabin crew served a sandwich,
wine, softdrinks or tea/coffee, and passengers could watch the Qantas edition of the evening news.
The flight departed and arrived on time (but with the use of the aerobridge only in Sydney) and was
quite a pleasant experience.

Very pleasant flight on a Dash8-Q400 SYD-CBR. Flight was on schedule, cab crew relaxed and cheerful,
while still very professional. Despite only being a very short flight were served snack of very nice
moist chocolate brownie and spring water. Plane is a bit tight and legroom on window seats is a
little obstructed due to the curvature of the fuselage, but otherwise reasonably comfortable of the
period that we were in the air.

Flew to Lord Howe Island February 2008. Pleasantly surprised that they served a meal with wine on a
flight of just under 2 hours. Air Canada (my home airline) could learn a thing or two as they do not
serve a meal on flights under 5 hours! Very nice crew, overall a great experience.

ROK-BNE. I found the flight on the newer Dash 8 Q400 type very relaxing and I was surprised about
the amount of room offered on a regional route. Afternoon tea and free drinks were served and the
attendants made numerous rounds for a flight which is in the air for just over 70 minutes. I make
numerous business related flight with QantasLink per year and I haven't been disappointed. Departure
10 minutes early due to early arrival. Highly recommend.

Hervey Bay - Bne on Qantas Link Dash 8 (25 seats). No choice of seat at check in even though the
flight was not full. Noticed no one was put in the exit rows (too much trouble for pre-flight
briefing?) or the first row on the left hand side. Small cake and coffee by the single crew member
in the quick flight time of 35 mins. Bargain flight if you get the internet specials.

BNE-ROK. Flight on time from Brisbane. Once in the air, full service provided with hot meal, soft
drinks and wine/beer. Full aircraft. Flight attendants were friendly and smiled lots. The captain
even joked on the P/A. Better than mainline QANTAS for service. Aircraft clean and seat pitch great.
The best service of Qantas certainly comes from QantasLink.

CBR-SYD to link with international flight. First flight of the morning from CBR to SYD. Bit of a
disaster - Qantas' ticketing system had failed to boot, and staff were manually checking in flights
one at a time. Queues very long - Australian Protective Services officers out in force, good-
humourdly - to keep people quiet. After 40 minutes the ticketing system did decide to boot up and we
were checked through quickly. New Dash 8 - 400 in Qantas 'pink' - it's breast cancer awareness
plane. Delayed 20 minutes leaving, staff quick at serving breakfast (snack and muesli) and coffee.
Late departure meant ATC had us circle SYD for a few minutes and then allocate us the runway
furthest from the terminals which resulted in a long taxi to the gate. Qantas staff were good
throughout flight and apologetic for the delay.

HVB-BNE on DH8-100. Considering this was a 35-minute flight, and the cabin was almost full, the
level of service by the lone flight attendant was exceptional. Snack-boxes distributed, followed by
wine, soft-drinks and beer. A snack service and 3 rounds of drinks in one flight. FA on the flight
managed to smile as well. Overall, an excellent experience.

MEL-SYD. This was an international flight on a domestic sector. Check in slow but pleasant enough
when it occurred. Qantas Club in the International area of Melbourne airport has no windows, it's
always a bit like sitting in a basement. Food and drink selection (a late breakfast) was good. Qantas
use the term "preferred seating" on their website, to give passengers an idea of where they'll be
seating. My seat was 27G. I am 195cm tall, and given the 31" pitch and the fact that there was a large
a/v box sticking out of the floor under the seat in front of me, seat 27G on this aircraft turned out
not to be my "preferred seating" even on a short trip (and they're offering me the same "preferred
seating" on my next flight to LAX - no, thanks). The aircraft was clean, and the flight was pleasant
enough, more or less on time, and disembarkation (only 100 or so pax on board) was quick. The return
flight the next day on a QF domestic service was better - better food, and more attentive service.

BNE-ROK return last week. Overall a great experience for such a short
hop. Dash 8-400 with more seat pitch than the 737-800. Coffee and tea
service with a brownie served both ways. Both flights on time with
smiling staff. Managed to get on an earlier flight back from ROK even
though I had special fare with no flight change possible. Asked check-in
staff at ROK if I could get on the earlier flight and was re-booked
immediately. Great customer service and cheaper than Jetstar and
Virginblue as I booked weeks in advance. Will certainly fly QantasLink
again in the future.

Qantaslink flight from Brisbane to Hervey Bay. Only a short flight on a
Dash 8 but excellent on-time service on an early evening flight that
cruised along above Moreton Bay, the beaches of Noosa and the Sunshine
Coast and over Fraser Island into Hervey Bay. What a beautiful flight
and all this topped off with a snack and, can you believe it, a free
quality wine service individually poured by the friendly FA. it was
almost a business class service on a short haul commuter flight. If
there could be a four or five star rating just for commuter airlines,
Qantaslink (or at least their Queensland, 'Sunstate' operation) surely
would deserve such a high rating.

Canberra - Sydney on QANTASLink Dash 8-300. I missed check-in cutoff by
ten minutes but they still checked me in, including the following
Sydney-Brisbane flight. Late arrival of aircraft caused a ten minute
delay. Such is life. Clean, small cabin. Once seated you cannot change
your seat allocation due to trim requirements. For such a small flight
two attendants dished out a snack box (juice, biscuits) and a round of
coffee or tea - quite unexpected. QL crew are a different breed, quite
personable and they have that 'best friend' feeling that only
Australians can deliver. Arrived a few minutes late in Sydney, then a
short bus ride around T3 which was fun.

Sydney to Canberra on a Qantaslink Dash 8-300. Relatively comfortable
though small. Tasty snack of crackers and a salsa-like dip.
Complimentary wine. Flight Attendants friendly and welcoming though
seemed a little bored. Overall a fairly good flight for such a short
leg.

Wollongong-Melbourne. A relatively new service on the QantasLink
schedule with plans to expand to more services. Flight up from Melbourne
was a little late and hence we were about fifteen minutes late into
Melbourne on the way back. Check in a breeze and complimentary newspaper
appreciated. Very friendly FA. Snacks provided were a yoghurt and muesli
bar, an apple and cinnamon muffin, OJ and two services of wither tea or
coffee. Dash 8-100 was looking a little dated inside the cabin and leg
room was not good but all in all an excellent service and one I hope to use again.

Brisbane - Rockhampton return on Qantaslink - both flights on time well
crewed and serviced by Dash 8-300, great service , complimentary wine a
nice touch, aircraft well suited to this 1.5 hour sector, but would be
cramped on the longer QLD regional runs.

QF2047 from Dubbo to Sydney. The service on this short 50 minute flight is
spectacular. The tireless hostess did three rounds with complimentary wine, along with
the normal tea and coffee service. I fly this route regularly and the service is
always special.

I believe it is a tribute to this fine little airline that flying with Qantaslink is
comparable to the finest Asian carriers, in my opinion. On a recent flight from
Brisbane to Rockhampton return, I was impressed again with the attentive service, good
snacks, wine and clean Dash 8 aircraft - similar in fact to the good Asian carriers. My
only complaint is that this airline has followed the other main carriers in Australia
and now play annoying rock music over the PA system while on the tarmac. I suspect
airlines actually pay for these so-called music systems? Otherwise, Qantaslink is a
superb little airline.

Recently flew Cairns-Alice Springs on a direct flight with Qantas Link - got a cheap deal (approx.
$125). The flight was smooth (friendly FAs, nice snack, flight was on time), however the cabin
seemed to be a bit cramped, especially compared to "real" Qantas. Anyway, good value for money!

ROK-TSV-CNS on QantasLink this week. To start with, I have to say how enjoyable it is to fly with
people who enjoy their jobs. This really comes across with the crews on board QantasLink’s Dash8s.
The first flight from Rocky to Townsville encountered a small hiccup. The fuel tank flap was
sending a fault signal back to the cockpit. After conducting some tests, the airline announced that
they would have to fly in a replacement aircraft.
The whole thing was handled very well. There was a delay of around two hours, which is pretty damn
good considering that the nearest replacement aircraft is a 1.5 hour flight away. During this time
the flight attendants mingled with passengers in the terminal helping with enquiries, on top of
informative PA announcements. Food was provided.
The actual flight was uneventful and comfortable. As always the flight attendants (two on this
Dash8-300 50 seater) were efficient, highly professional, and genuinely friendly. This is in stark
contrast to the service given on the main routes, which can sometimes come across as at best, hollow
and tired, at worst just rude. This comparison is even more pronounced when you consider that the
Dash8 crews are constantly working, with most flight times around 30-50 minutes in length. In this
time they do their demos, secure the cabin, hand out magazines, serve a snack, coffee, mints and in
the evening *complimentary* wine and beer. On the 36 seaters they do this solo.
The TSV-CNS flight later this day was on one of the older 36 seaters. Our flight attendant was on
her first training flight, so there was also a trainer flying with us. There was spontaneous
applause from the passengers for her safety demo (it took slightly longer than normal as the trainer
delivered the odd prompt).
As always the flight was friendly and relaxed (similar to the best of Virgin without the feeling it
was being forced – these guys just like what they’re doing). The FO (“Scotty”) came over the PA and
asked us to sing happy birthday to the FA trainer (“Nat”). Combined with the free
plonk, it was
good fun.
