LEJ-MUC-CPH return in economy. German domestic flights served by small Canadair and DeHavilland planes, both relatively comfortable and clean with friendly staff. The typical short-haul meal was served, consisting of a small dry sandwich and a coffee. The international segment to Denmark was flown by SAS, using very old but comfortable MD80 planes. Staff friendly and it was a nice change to be on a different airline. No food or drinks served in economy left me thirsty and disappointed. For some reason Lufthansa offers flight connections at MUC with only 30 minutes transfer time. Sounds great at first, but once you're there it gets very chaotic. No time to shop, or even use the toilet. My checked-in bag didn't make it to my transfer flight and was left in MUC. Instead it was put on a later plane, forcing me to wait at the destination airport for several hours in vain. MUC is a nice airport, but I would recommend FRA as transfer when flying Lufthansa.

HAM-FRA-HKG. If you really need to fly LH intercontinental, avoid FRA at costs. LH B747 fleet waiting to be replaced is a disgrace with no IFE and shabby worn-out seats. If you can, choose Munich which is served by nicer A340s and A330s. Even the FAs based in MUC seem to be less arrogant.

Denver-Frankfurt, Frankfurt-Portland Ecomomy Class. A340-600 Denver to Frankfurt, spotless and very comfortable. The flight attendants were polite, food was good. On the way home we travelled an A340-300, very comfortable. Both planes had personal entertainment screens.

London-Shanghai via Frankfurt; Moscow-London via Frankfurt. The Star Alliance lounge at LHR T1 is less relaxing than it was when is was BA's but there is a better choice of food, albeit squashed into a small counter area. The lounge in Moscow was much better. FRA-PNG the IFE screen is larger than on BA but the seats do not lie flat - and both of our seats had minds of their own and were difficult to adjust as the motors ran riot. They had to be reset several times. Food and wine was disappointing. On the three short hops, the service was what you would expect. Lufthansa is reasonable and you get what you pay for. My flights cost less than half with BA.

Copenhagen to Frankfurt where I had a connecting flight to Tokyo with ANA. The trip from Copenhagen to Frankfurt was fine, but I was travelling with a 2-year old girl and we forgot our diapers on the Frankfurt plane. A trip to Tokyo without diapers would be hell, so we quickly asked the Lufthansa staff to help us. The woman we spoke to was rude, almost apathetic. I knew that the mistake was ours and just begged her to help, we said "well, if it was that important why did we forget it?" - which was a ridiculous question. Luckily for us the ANA staff came over and spoke to her, got information about where our stuff where and helped us. Great service from ANA, but poor service from Lufthansa. I will avoid Lufthansa in the future, but I will gladly fly ANA again.

YUL-MUC in Business return. Modern cabin on A330-300. Not full and very quiet. Service is nice and food ok as in many business class, but impossible to sleep on that seat. Lounge at Montreal ok but the woman at the front desk was not nice at all.

If you are looking for a special business class travel and have saved to buy a business class ticket try to avoid Lufthansa. I flew Lufthansa business class from London via Frankfurt to Tokyo and back, I've flown Qatar Airways Business and compared to Lufthansa - its the service and 'extras' that let Lufthansa down big time. The seat is OK - it is big enough and though not perfect, I could sleep on it - but there is no storage except for the overhead lockers. IFE selection is not bad though the screen is small. The blankets and especially the toiletry kit look and feel so cheap. The worst part is the food - the main course of the meal and the breakfast were inedible and served overheated and cooked - it looked just like economy class food. As we were flying to Japan we had the choice of European or Japanese food - that was nice. But the European food was so bad I actually had a hard time cutting their tenderloin - so I asked if I could change my choice to Japanese. The breakfast was so overcooked I wasn't sure what it was supposed to be - pancake or omlette. On the way back I asked for Japanese both main and breakfast. Going out the toilet was dirty - where there were supposed to be 3 toiletry bottles only one bottle was there for mouthwash. Coming back we had 45 people in business class sharing two small toilets. When flying Qatar Airways, their service made you feel special. Lufthansa makes no effort to do this. The stewards were OK - but were not that engaging or attentive or interested. They seemed to spend any time not doing the 'meal runs' hidden in the middle galley chatting away with the curtains closed.

HKG-MUC, A340-600, good interior, AVOD working but selection of movies bad. Flight attendants good, food okay. BCN-MUC A320seat good, good service and tasty sandwich. MUC-HKG nothing really much to say, same as HKG-MUC.

San Francisco to Manchester via Munich: Great experience started with online check-in. We were all able to get seats near to each other, one in front of a pair on the right side. Baggage drop efficient, and the agent made a change to our existing seats on flight from Munich to Manchester so all three of us could sit next to each other. A340-600 is a great plane, even from seats 52K and 53H/K, which are just ahead of the point where the fuselage tapers. The drink service was accompanied by a bag of pretzels and crackers, followed by a meal service. Having bathrooms downstairs is a great idea as it avoids people congregating upstairs and allows passengers so sleep, work or watch movies undisturbed. Breakfast served about two hours before arrival was quite horrible. The personal entertainment is fairly good, but has nowhere near their choice of Air Canada. Transit wait was four hours, but we had dinner at one of the many beer gardens. On the RJ85, our seats were 8D,E,F, which are parallel to engines, meaning they provide a quieter ride, but still by no means silent. Even though this was a flight operated by Cityline, sandwiches were served and the two flight attendants passed out drinks three times. A very positive experience overall. Return Manchester o Boston, Massachusetts via Frankfurt. No line in Manchester for baggage drop, however security line was a mile long. Once again, sandwiches, chocolate bars and drinks were served. We originally had a two hour layover in FRA, reduced by the delay. Passengers whose connections were tight were driven directly to their gate by buggy. Changing terminals isn't hard in Frankfurt, but can be hectic. We inquired about volunteering to stay overnight since flight was overbooked, but there was several no-shows. Cabin crew was fairly visible during the flight, even when no service was offered. About two hours prior to landing, a snack was served. Our bags were close to last off, but that is just luck of the draw.

LHR-FRA-LHR. Leather covered seats comfortable enough for this short flight and although legroom is not spacious it is adequate for the flying time. Drinks and sandwiches served each way. Noticed on the outbound flight that the sandwiches were not wrapped; they were just sitting in a paper holder - same was true on the return flight, and gives me cause for concern regarding other matters of hygiene. I would anticipate that barely 20% of the passengers took a sandwich so I am not in the minority in my concerns.

Brussels-Frankfurt-Singapore. Seat is uncomfortably hard and not easy to even catch a nap on. My pull-out table cannot be deployed and I had to eat while balancing the food on my lap. This is a long flight and there's no personal entertainment system and it was impossible to watch anything on the small shared TV from my first row without spraining my neck! The fare is equal to or more expensive than other airlines offering superior services eg. Singapore Airlines, BA, Qantas or SAS. Lastly, there is no number for you to contact Lufthansa for providing customer feedback. I wonder how serious they value customer feedback. I had to write and fax my feedback to them and it's been a few days. The only positive note on my trip is the crew. They were pleasant and nice.

MUC-GVA return in Economy. Flights on time, nice cabin crew, small snack (which I declined due to the fact that these sandwiches are a constant repetition and hardly edible) plus a round of drinks on a 50 minute flight. Ground services leave a little to be improved: web or telephone check in from Switzerland does not work with LH themselves (you have to contact LX), ground staff at GVA did not point out lounge location to us as SEN/FTL at check in (machines did not work for us).

Frankfurt-Rome-Dusseldorf. Flight to Rome comfortable A321-100. FAs efficient and courteous, and served sandwiches on the 1hr 30 mins flight. The new leather seats on Lufthansa's short- haul fleet are very comfortable. On the flight to Dusseldorf, the aircraft was an aged B737-500 but clean.

MUC-PVG-MUC. I have been using Lufthansa on this route quite frequently over the past two years. At most times outbound and inbound on time. Very professional, attentive and cheerful crews. I have noticed that flight attendants do everything possible to make parents travelling with small children feel welcome aboard. Always liked the food. With A340-600 very modern and comfy aircraft with personal IFE. As FTL I got upgraded to Business Class a couple of times. Overall I think Lufthansa is, along with some of the good Asian airlines, among the best carriers in the market.

First class Vancouver-Frankfurt return, using Aeroplan points. Great service, meals. First Class lounge at Frankfurt is heaven, cigar lounge for smokers, sit down and buffet food high quality, great wines. First class priority boarding excellent - separate boarding corridor. Too bad that Frankfurt airport itself is a disaster. Both flights on time. Most attentive flight attendants I've experienced - nothing too much trouble.
