HKG-MUC-GVA; GVA-FRA-SIN : two very different experiences. Lufthansa is quite good for flight within
Europe, but international flights are inconsistent. Lufthansa really lags behind the rest of the
world in terms of services in economy. There's minimal inflight entertainment, and no seat-back tv
screens. And seat-back entertainment has only been introduced on selected routes to Nroth America so
those flying to and from Asia will have to wait a little longer. Movies were shown on tiny tv
screens dotted around the cabin. Hong Kong - Munich flight was a night flight (left around 11pm).
Inflight service very straightforward and efficient. No amenities kit, which is another oddity for a
night flight. I called a flight attendent with the button on my armrest hoping to ask whether there
were any toothbrushes. A stern-looking FA came over. I asked her whether she may have some
toothbrushes and got a stern reply: "No I don't have any toothbrushes and this button is for
emergency use only." I'd never have guessed that a picture of a stick figure holding a cup means
"emergency". She walks away a few steps then comes back and asks: "Don't you have a toothbrush?". If
I wasn't so tired I would have snapped back with something like "No I just like collecting airline
toothbrushes." The seat was one of the most uncomfortable and drab I've ever seen. However the
ground services at Munich and Frankfurt airports dedicated to Lufthansa are first class, even for
economy class passengers: free coffee (very tasty) and tea in Munich for example. Flying back I had
huge problems with my reservation. Calling their reservation centre in Geneva was a nightmare. I'd
suggest going to the airport in person and speaking to them in the local language (French in this
case), so they must find a solution for you as they can't get rid of you like they can on the phone.
Geneva - Frankfurt and Frankfurt - Singapore were pleasant. Frankfurt - Singapore again a night
flight with no amenities, but given my by now extremely low expectations I was pleasantly surprised
by the wonderful crew, with one member cracking jokes in German and English. Water and juice flowed
throughout the flight, which was great. Food was quite good on all flights. Overall, though, for the
price you pay you can get much better elsewhere than the inconsistent service on Lufthansa, and even
though I know that economy class is the cheapest of the lot, compared with other airlines with the
same routes and services, Lufthansa is below par.

IAD-FRA & FRA-VCE. Flights full on both legs, a large group of tourists meeting up with a cruise
ship in Venice on both legs. Seat on A340-300 from IAD-FRA was not conducive to getting any rest.
Service was good, food OK from IAD-FRA. Nice thing about flying LH is free Warsteiner. 2.5 hr
layover early morning in FRA. Had to go through Passport and Security to go from Term A to Term B
for Flight from FRA-VCE. Seat on A321 from FRA-VCE was more comfortable than A340-300. Beverage and
small snack on flight from FRA-VCE. Both flights departed on time and arrived a few minutes early.
Bags came off the belt within 15 minutes of arrival at VCE, especially with the large amount of
tourists on board. Overall a fair flying experience for Economy.

MAA-FRA-MAA. Business Class to FRA, Economy on return. I had a sullen Indian crew in the Business
Class but German crew friendly. The food was OK onward but excellent on return. Return leg had
excellent service and they offered fruit juices. Economy seats however are a bit uncomfortable -
since it was a B747-400, no personal screen in economy either. Heard their A340 fleet has personal
entertainment in economy.

BHX-FRA-FDH in Business Class. Cabin crew excellent. But LH have now found a new nadir of
inadequacy when it comes to flight catering. Today's breakfast was a nasty little pot of cottage
cheese - but the main item was a bowl with half a dozen pieces of fruit - roughly half an apple.
You were then supposed to pour yoghourt, a cellophane packet of muesli and a small tube of honey
over it - and that was it. The helpful steward told me that this has been going on for about a week
and that they'd had several complaints. He managed to find a breakfast left over from the inbound
flight which was kind of him - it had 2 tiny pieces of meat and a chunk of cheese, at least.
Having left home at 0600 and with an ETA at FDH of 1515, after which I needed to work (the clue
being Business Class), I was ravenous by the end of the day! My return ticket cost €1233.03 - for
this price Lufthansa should have been able to provide something far better than a bowl of muesli!
Second leg was little better - a tired looking salad with some thin strips of meat and cheese, and
no chocolates! I suspect this is yet another dumbing-down by Lufthansa; last time I travelled in my
own car as I was fed up with the woeful standards in LH these days and it'll probably be the same
next time!

Returned from Los Angeles/Iran trip. Stuffed as usual into antiquated Boeing 747-400 with a ten
abreast seating pattern. Extremely uncomfortable. Only entertainment is overhead screens and a
small handful of dreadful audio channels. Lufthansa seems to feel that it is best to subject their
long haul customers to uncomfortable seating and just about everything else and give their short
haul passengers all of the perks! Service was excellent. Checking in at Los Angeles took forever,
and then they were busy trying to rush us through airport security. Checking in to return home from
Tehran, it was the same problem of check in taking entirely too long. I was presented with nearly
same menu I had on several previous trips. As I ordered the Muslim halal food, it would be really
wonderful if someone would clue into the fact that not all Muslims are Indian. The selections were
so ridiculous that I ended up with virtually the identical meal twice in a row!

KTW-BCN-KTW via DUS. Nice experience for two adults and two kids. All flights operated by Eurowings
or LH Regional by Canadair Jets. Planes small but comfortable, but Eurowings machines on the routes
from/to KTW look a little bit old. Good service, especially for kids. From BCN-DUS the flight was
delayed for technical problems, but finally was OK. Good selection of drinks (soft, wine, beer) for
two times, that was quite unusual for my experience with Eurowings.

FRA-JFK on 747 and YYZ-FRA on A340-600. LH is typically German, but at the end a very good product.
Sitting excellent but sleeping position only angled lie-flat, not 180 degrees. Nevertheless a few
hours sleep and good privacy from your neighbour. Food was excellent with three different choices:
meat, fish or pasta. Very good wine selection.

Flew Lufthansa Privatair all business class ORD to DUS (A319) and then regular Lufthansa business
FRA to DFW (A340-300). If you have a choice between the two, do not do the Privatair, horrible
seats, antiquated handheld entertainment with very little selection, mediocre food and rushed
economy like service, all in all not worth the business class fare at all. In comparison, the return
flight from Frankfurt was a dream, great seats, pretty good food, in flight entertainment, and a
really top notch crew.

SSG (Malabo, Eq. Guinea) to FRA. This is a new route for Lufthansa. A330 we flew on was also brand
new, IFE excellent and staff attentive. There was however a big problem with the air conditioning,
which resulted in an outrageously cold cabin (particularly cruel for people coming from such a hot
country). Overall a good experience.

My elderly mother (80) and godmother (82) visited me in Oman and flew back to Boston via Frankfurt.
Lufthansa ground crew in Muscat, Frankfurt, and Boston treated them like queens. Frankfurt airport
is not my favorite European transit point, but Lufthansa staff met them at the gate at 5am, took
them to a special waiting lounge, and called me in Muscat to tell me they had arrived safely! And
all this in Economy Class. My own flights with Lufthansa have been excellent. Friendly staff,
tasty meals, great inflight entertainment, generous with drinks and snacks.

NCL-DUS-NCL operated by Eurowings under Lufthansa flight number. Perfectly good flight in both
directions on Canadair Regional Jet. Snack a cheese roll and chocolate bar with tea or coffee and a
cold drink, which I thought was reasonable on such a short flight. There were only 2 cabin crew who
were polite and friendly. I liked the fact that there was no attempt to sell anything to passengers
on either flight. My only complaint was the cost of the flight but since Lufthansa run the only
direct flight from Newcastle to Dusseldorf, there was little choice.

LHR-Delhi return via Munich in Business Class. This was my first time in Lufthansa, chosen on price
and air miles earning potential for the route. Two short haul legs I found the service cheerful and
attentive. My only complaint was a fish only meal on the way out. Long haul legs were ok - service
was slower and there seemed to be a rationing of drinks unless you ask. The lie flat seats are not
the best and the angle you find yourself at can cause a good slide and is not the most comfortable.
If you're alone and in the window seat you may find it impossible to get out without getting
extremely "personal" with the occupier of the aisle seat. If you're big, sit in the aisle seat of
the centre block. Overall it is good, but can improve.

FRA-MCT return in First-Class. First Class-terminal in FRA excellent with very good service.
Inflight service quite friendly, good food and beverage selection onboard. Seat comfort and
audio/video equipment not up to date. Rude Lufthansa ground staff in Muscat. Overall Lufthansa
offers a service that is well away from setting new standards, except for the F-class terminal in
FRA. Taking their price policies into account, you can get a comparable or even better service on
Asian or middle east carriers for significantly lower fares.

Krakow Balice to Munich, snack sandwich and free beer and wine were served, which astonished me on
such a short flight. The plane looked small enough to be a prop jet; but there was plenty of room in
the overhead for my carry on. All this and the icing on the cake was getting this ticket for $62.

SFO-FRA-DXB-MUC-VIE, IST-MUC-SFO, some Economy, some Business class. The crews are solicitous and
friendly and service minded. I left my book onboard the flight from Istanbul and during the ground
stop in Munich, I reported the episode. While my book was not found, another was and I was paged to
look at the book that was found so I know that a search was actually performed - as opposed to just
waiting a bit and then saying, sorry, no luck. While not every flight in the past few years has been
outstanding, I have yet to have a really poor experience and believe that good, reliable service is
almost guaranteed with LH.

MUC-JFK. EWR-MUC. Accessed online check-in 22 hrs before flight to be told that there were no window
seats available. Tried to change assigned seat when I arrived at the airport the evening before
flight but was told there were only a few middle seats left. On the MUC-JFC flight the person in
the window seat next to me told me she had checked in 3 hrs before the flight and been assigned a
window seat, some 20 hours after I had been told there were no window seats. Return flight I
checked in by a very sullen agent almost three hours before flight and asked for an aisle seat, she
said OK. As I walked away I realised the seat she had assigned me was an E which is middle seat. I
asked for a change but was informed there were no aisle seats left. Again on board the plane the
person sitting in the aisle seat told me that he had checked in at least an hour after me. Why the
lies? I was using miles for the flight and can only surmise that passengers not paying full price
don't get decent seats. The flight out to NY was OK, the food was poor but the service was good.
The flight back to MUC, again poor food. This was a night flight, I was wedged into an extremely
narrow seat the passengers at either side both slept throughout most of the flight so I couldn't get
out of my seat and at no time after the lights went out did the cabin staff bring water or juice
round. I wouldn't choose LH again for a long haul flight. The only redeeming feature is that they
finally have individual seat back entertainment.

CGN-FFRA-LIS and back. Cologne to Frankfurt with train. Train is nice but you have to carry on all
the baggage with you with too little space in the train to put the luggage. This is a clear backstep
on the service from Cologne as in former times you could check in also you luggage at Cologne
station. Another disadvantage is that you are only allowed to travel with the indicated train. This
caused a 1 hour waiting time on the back trip in Frankfurt. FRA-LIS on time but with bad food and
arrogant crew behaviour. Flight back upgraded to business class but also poor service.

LCY-FRA-ACC. First leg by Avro RJ 85 at the crack of dawn,. Check in at LCY a delight as ever and
although I was 10 KG over with my luggage limit but not charged (it may have helped that I had 12
months validity on my ticket). Seating the same in economy as business but the business section not
as full. Breakfast served quickly in flight but I originally did not get one as I had fallen asleep.
A positive that they did not assume to wake me I guess and they did bring me the tray, the main dish
being a typical German plate of cold cuts and cheese, as soon as I awoke. The business lounge in
Frankfurt with a reasonable selection of drinks and some snacks. A330-300 seating was 2-2-2. A menu
offering a decent selection of starter, main, desert, cheese and drinks. Crew polite and attentive
on both flights and entertainment on the long haul leg was fairly good. The service has a layover in
Lagos where most passengers leave, this is a bit of a drag being so near but far from ones
destination but necessary for Lufthansa to offer a regular Accra service. Price led me to fly with
Lufthansa as opposed to BA or KLM; out of London they offer best value of the trio for long validity
returns in business class. Overall I was impressed and would use the service again though if with
children I may pay more or downgrade for the convenience of flying direct.
