Economy class LGW-DXB-BKK. All flights on time. Food as good as it gets in economy. ICE systems on all
legs. Good when usable, but when seat in front is reclined screen not properly visible. Got off one
flight with grazed knees as the seat was so cramped. Transit at Dubai OK but need a two hour transit
time to be safe of catching onward flight. Can only use duty free for drink at Dubai so do not buy at
any airport if you are going via Dubai as you need to pass through security at Dubai and you would not
be allowed to pass through with litres of liquids! (BKK check in staff did not know this). Getting
through security at Dubai can be a bit of a struggle at peak times but should not take more than
30mins. Online check in good and saved time at airport both at LGW and BKK.

ICN-ATH via DXB, return. Economy on the way out to Athens, upgraded to Business (900 Euro extra) on
return to Seoul. B777-300ER ATH-XB, same ICN-DXB route unless you are on the codeshare flight with
Korean Air and then you have a A330-200 (much less comfortable seating). Lounge in ATH modern although
not big, much better in DXB. Economy class cramped, first time started thinking seriously about
travelling Business from now on. No opinion on IFE system, never used it during flights. Cabin crew
professional, however this multi-cultural & multi-national composition of attendants somewhat deprives
the feeling/sense of pride and duty in what is accomplished. Flights generally on time, no problems.
Food is ok, but nothing extraordinary. Amenity kit ok in Economy, better in Business. Toilets clean
and with fresh flowers in Business. Business class seats nice in 777 not as good in the codeshared
A330. Would travel again but next time will try Business class on Qatar or Thai to see how they
compare.

BNE-DXB-MAN Economy Return. The most attractive thing about this route was the schedule. Apart from
an hour at Singapore for refuelling, the stopover at Dubai was just under 2 hours, enough time for a
toilet stop, cup of coffee and a glance at the shops. No problems obtaining exit seats with extra
legroom as a lone passenger. The slight negatives start to increase once onboard. The aircraft used
on the leg BNE-SIN-DXB rather tired and dated compared to the rest of the Emirates fleet. IFE is not
the ICE system as advertised and you only seem to get the ICE IFE system on the fleet from DXB-MAN.
The lack of refreshment in terms of drinks offered to economy passengers was noticeably disappointing.
There seem to be a huge amount of inexperienced cabin crew on these legs too. Most of them appeared
to be in their first week or even month of working as cabin crew. Anyhow, arrival at DXB was timely
and the transfer relatively stress free apart from the extensive building works at DXB meant that the
MAN flight passengers had to endure a 10min bus ride to the plane at the very far end of the airport
(not much fun when on this long journey and the heat is about 35c). DXB-MAN was good with a
refurbished plane which had the ICE system. The meals onboard were of a good standard throughout,
however the cabin crew/passenger interaction was not as good as on Singapore Airlines. The cabin
layout is cramped and I did have sympathy for those passengers without the exit extra legspace. Just
a few centimetres more on both pitch and seat width would make a world of difference in flight
comfort.

MAN-SIN return in Business Class. I booked myself and my parents into Business for this part of a trip
to Australia. The lounge in Manchester is very poor and the check-in agent had a face like a well-
slapped behind! It was my parents' Silver Anniversary so they were presented with a very nice cake and
a bottle of champagne on board! As a Silver Skywards member, I was able to reserve my seats months
before the trip and these were honoured. The 777-300ER from and to Manchester still had the cradle
seats with the 54" pitch and the 777-300 to SIN had the 46" pitch seats. These were still comfortable
and service from the cabin crew was outstanding. Meals plentiful and the food never seemed to stop
coming. ICE worked well and a very welcome feature.

BNE-DXB in Business. Etihad start flying Brisbane to Abu Dhabi from next month and finally Emirates
have started using planes on this route with the upgraded flat-bed seating. Nothing like a little bit
of competition! Its still 2-3-2 but there are privacy screens to lower and raise as required and the
privacy is excellent once the bed is flat out and your head is in the pod of the seat. I slept for the
first time ever on this route. Huge TV screens.

DXB-MLE-DXB 11/16 Aug. I am continually impressed by the decline in Emirates' service. Their
aircraft are now tatty and filthy. The crew appear de-incentivised to work. Inflight, call bells are
ignored/cancelled, and the food is not a patch on what it used to be even only 12 months ago. The
extra seat crammed into their 777 aircraft makes economy travel an utterly miserable experience, I
cannot think of another carrier that adopts a 3-4-3 seating across a 777. EK business class is not
much better with outdated, cramped, uncomfortable seating in an arrangement which is not dissimilar to
other carriers premium economy cabins. The biggest challenge faced by EK is the use of Dubai airport
which has to rank as one of the world's worst at the moment. Third world doesn't even come close to
describing the appalling service, space, comfort, cleanliness and security.

Booked reward flights DUS-DXB on A330-200, Economy class. Checked-in online, but again, even as
Skywards members, seats were changed upon baggage check-in! Incredible, it happens all the time so
online check-in is a joke as they change the seats anyway! One seat uncomfortable as something in back
seems to be broken. There was an empty row behind us so took one seat. Inflight entertainment a mess
as it did not work. Screen was "rolling" and headset did not work either as connection inside the
chair seem to be the problem. Dinner served was nice and plenty of choice left in the back of the
plane. Then crew disappeared for the rest of the night so people kept pushing the FA buttons for
drinks. Extremely annoying on a night flight when people try to sleep. Most of the cabin crew was
friendly and when we mentioned this trip was a special occasion, we got offered champagne. Arrival in
Dubai via a gate but extremely busy despite it being 5 am. DXB-DUS: A330-200. Checked-in online again
and hurray, we did actually get the checked-in seats. Due to previous problems with flights last
month, I complained and asked for an upgrade (they only seem to do this when flight is full!). Don't
bother, they will not do it as no-one has the authority but customers affairs and they are not
available at DXB airport. Flight was full, so plane was packed, also with very many noisy children.
Choice of lunch menu was horrible (chicken coriander, salmon and starter with duck) but as I had
complained (they finally noticed) upon check-in about the seat changing process, the purser asked if
we wanted the business class hot choice. Very nice beef stew was then delivered. Nice attentive
service, thanks. Very friendly crew, drinks offered frequently throughout the flight. Service was
outstanding during this flight. I am not sure if we will fly Emirates again due to the many problems
which seems to be getting worse and worse. FA kept telling that Emirates wants it's customers to be
happy but they are certainly not improving this. And we don't seem to be the only ones who complain.

DMM-DXB First Class, DXB-BKK Business Class. Short flt to Dubai uneventful. A-300-200 with 60 in.
pitch. Ground and flt crew courteous and helpful, but NO alcoholic beverages onboard, though other
carriers serve it from Saudi Arabia. But they did not board First Class first. Transfer in Dubai
Airport a nightmare, beginning with the 15 minute bus trip from the apron to the departure terminal.
Immediately after entering the terminal you have to go through security again, and it's a madhouse,
even at 2 a.m. A sea of people in the departure terminal. Flt to Bangkok on a B777-300. No First Class
offered, but they had a dedicated sky bridge for them, and none for Business Class. Seat pitch only 46
in. and three seats in the center section. Seemed crowded, even though in Business class. No video on
demand. Meal limited to breakfast about 2 hours before arrival with limited selections. Only ONE round
of drinks offered during the 6 hour flight, then the flight attendants disappeared. VERY disappointed
in this flight after hearing such hype about Emirates. My first time on Emirates, and my last.

choice of movies, games and music was incredible. Would take Emirates again.

ATH-DXB-SYD return in First Class. The shorter sectors were on 777-300ER outbound and 777-200 return,
the 14-hour flights on A340-500. 777 flights featured enhanced First Class with lie-flat private
screen beds and ICE AVOD with nearly 1000 channels of TV and music. The surround sound earphones shut
out all aircraft noise. Food superb and on demand room service on the Sydney flights. The First Class
suite on the A340-500 is incomparable in comfort and privacy with duvet turndown, Do Not Disturb
sliding doors, pyjamas and slippers, inflight cosmetics, writing material, a practical toiletries kit,
and goodie basket with Toblerone, nuts etc. The bed in the suite was sleep-inducing. DXB-SYD flight
in Economy cannot be comfortable, but First Class on flagship service definitely lived up to
expectations. Landside perks included limousine chauffeur drive to and from ATH airport and free
overnight at the Dubai Meridien. The price, at just over 4,000 Euro, is much cheaper compared to First
Class on TG, BA, QF or SQ. Miles were in my Skywards account within 48 hours. Outstanding, highly
recommended if you want to go the distance in style.

SYD-DXB-LHR. Despite being Skywards members and requesting seats my travelling companion and I were
separated till we caused a fuss. Arrived at airport hours before flight but told it was full and
airline had allocated seating. Could have died of thirst on first leg - stewards disappeared pretty
quickly. When food was served it took forever to clear the trays. Dont know if they were understaffed
but it was pretty poor. Inflight entertainment good - unfortunately the passenger behind me did not
understand the concept of 'touch screen' and kept bashing it with his fingers - so my head was being
pummelled from behind! Dubai airport was horrible - full of bodies lying on the floor. For anyone
travelling economy there is an Emirates lounge situated near the Irish Pub - you can pay to enter
(about $24) Its excellent! Would not recommend this airline for economy passengers. Some flights were
better than others with regards to service - Qantas and BA are better.

was on, need a cabin upgrade to A340 levels on long hauls. My wife flew before me and was on the
A340-500 AKL-MEL-DXB and gave it the full 5 stars. I have not commented on the entertainment systems
because I don't use them.

We travelled as a group of 7 (incl. 3 small kids) DUS-DXB-MRU-DXB-DUS in
economy class. Checked-in online for all trips and this seems to be
problem. Despite having my pre-assigned seats as a Skywards member and
seats mentioned in my e-tickets, all seats were changed and put all
through the plane. The seats I wanted were actually available when I
checked-in online - very weird. Be careful when checking in online,
there are only about 10 seats you can choose from and on 2 sectors plane
turned out not to be full! Of the 4 sectors travelled, only one was
faultless: DUS-DXB. This has always been a nice flight with attentive
FA's and good meals. An old A330-200 and needs a make-over but all
systems and chairs worked. The children got nice backpacks with puppets
and additional handpuppets, colouring books, crayons. Obviously I do not
agree with a previous comment from a passenger that they have gone cheap
on the kits for kids. My 3 children got spoiled (on all 4 sectors),
without even asking for it. Transit on Dubai airport was with a bus
again and took around 25 minutes as it was peak time. Terminal busy?
Yes, as we arrived at midnight but toilets were clean and not
overcrowded. Shopping area was overcrowded so were the seats: people
lying down on 4 (!) seats each and then having luggage on them and
unwilling to move anything despite them noticing you travel with 3 small
children who would love to sit down! This should be monitored by Dubai
airport officials as it is ridiculous! We decided to start boarding
early to have a seat to sit on in the waiting area but Emirates lady
told us we had to stay in there and were not allowed to use toilets
again despite travelling with children and the plane not leaving for 1,5
hours. She was very unpleasant and unfriendly so we remained outside for
a while, sat on the floor. Poor service, very poor. Dubai-Mauritius was
in a new 777-300 ER plane with ICE system. Fabulous, pity it was a night
flight so sleep was more pleasant. Plane was clean and in good condition
with nice lighting (Burj al Arab style) and little stars. Service very
good and very attentive FA's. Good choice of 2 hot breakfasts and both
available. Arrival in Mauritius took a long time as Emirates staff did
not have enough entry forms so most of us had to fill them out. MRU-DXB
on an old 777-300 with only 3 out of 4 inflight systems working!
Eventually got bulkhead seats after 1 hour discussion at check-in
(despite travelling with kids!) as they had scattered us all over the
plane again and she kept on insisting no seats were available and no
pre-assigned seats were booked. When we boarded I noticed half the plane
in the back was empty (including my pre-assigned seats!!!) so I
complained immediately and the FA apologised as they keep them available
for honeymooners who are mostly non Skywards members. Totally
ridiculous. Choice of food was good and children got spoiled again with
goodies (maybe because of all the troubles?). It was my father's
birthday at midnight and he was offered champagne and a plate full of
cakes from First class. Arrival was good at Dubai, arrived at a gate for
a change and going to customs was shift. We stayed in Dubai for 3 days.
When checking-in online again for the DXB-DUS sector, had the wrong
seats again and the ones I had pre-assigned were free to choose from?!
Check-in at DXB airport took us 1 hour despite using the "online check-
in passengers" counter. Everybody uses this line so be careful. When it
was my turn she actually had the nerve to tell me to use the normal
check-in counters as these were for online checked-in pax. So I waived
the papers and she suddenly smiled and treated me very nicely. She then
told me that all the previous pax were not checked-in online hence the
qeue. That is not my problem, is it? She should have handled the line
better and be friendly anyway. Tip: It would have been faster to check
in via an ordinary Emirates economy check-in counter after all.
Flight was an old A330-200 again with a lot of problems to the old IFE.
Half of them only worked. Only one hot meal was serviced and they ran
out of choice half through the plane so ended up eating rolls. Not much
to eat for the children either and upon arrival just a cup of coffee
with a chocolate bar. This is not Emirates, they usually supply plenty
of food and on flights this long a hot meal and a good snack! Needless
to say we were hungry when we arrived so bought some food first.
Some sectors of Emirates are outstanding, some are bad. The quality of
the planes is getting worse and worse and even the food is being cut
back on. Not to mention their check-in and pre-assigned seating
business. The crew are always friendly and reacted on everything so that
is not the reason I am only giving them 3 stars, it is because of all
the other problems. Will fly with them again but only if I have too and
to spend my Skywards miles.

First Class Gatwick-Dubai-Melbourne. A330-200 Gatwick to Dubai looking
its age and seat very poor for First Class. Pitch and recline would be
disappointing for business class on many airlines. Service polite and
attentive and a good selection of wine available. ICE (AVOD) system not
installed, but on demand service was available via a video tape inserted
into the armrest - seems archaic these days! A340-500 First Class from
Dubai to Melbourne was a revelation in terms of privacy, thanks to the
electric sliding doors which closed off my suite. The TV screen was huge
and the selection of AVOD content via ICE was outstanding. One big
problem though, despite the clear investment by Emirates in the cabin,
unbelievably the seat did not go flat. It went close, but there is a
definite slope on the footrest segment of the sleep, which detracts from
the comfort.

of choices. FAs attentive and friendly. Food okay in terms of quality,
especially the portion. DXB-BKK on B777-300. Plane rather old and ICE
was AVOD but old equipment (small screen). Food was incomparable to
previous leg. BKK-DXB was probably the worst leg of this trip. The plane
was B777-300. ICE not with AVOD and tiny screen. Movie and song choices
very limited. A morning flight, the meal was just a mediocre breakfast
(fried noodle or omelette). FAs rather bland and not as attentive. DXB-
LHR : pre and post-meal drinks were provided. FAs attentive and quick
to respond to passengers' requests. Food choices were the best among
these 4 legs. ICE back to the new AVOD with large screen. Legroom was
very spacious. I wish Emirates would reconfigure the economy seat
configuration from 3-4-3 to 2-4-2. This would give them a chance to
improve the width of the seat and allow the window seater to get out
easier. Transfer at Dubai airport okay but the transfer counter staff
could be more courteous. I checked in online and didn't have any
problem. Will fly with them again as long as they keep their prices

Be careful when booking First Class. Emirates have different standards
depending on which route you fly. If you travel from LGW on an A330 it
is not really first class, more like an old fashioned business class
with the cradle seat. Forget the glossy advertising as you will not get
a lie flat seat and no ICE They keep saying they will upgrade but not
sure when that will be. LGW-DXB, you will get dinner and have to ask
for a cup of tea before landing at 06.30. On the plus side, the lounge
at LGW is superb with wonderful staff on the reception, the cabin crew
were also good. You get what you pay for and they are usually the

Flew 14 hours Sydney Dubai. Was told the seats in this flight had more
room but not so. As an average size male there is just no room in those
seats. Once the seat in front is reclined it is not possible to see the
entertainment screen. Emirates seem to pile seats in where other
airlines do not leading to a quite cramped cabin. The food and staff
were as good as it gets. Crowding at Dubai check in was the other
problem, it took 50 minutes to check in. If you are small hard to fault
but if you are more than about 80kg it is a squeeze. I will try and

I think Emirates is a very reliable airline when it comes to online
check-in or get seats pre-assigned. Perhaps the below travellers were
not Skywards members? Besides this, I agree with them that letting aN 8
year sit alone is totally unacceptable. We have travelled with Emirates
each year from 2003 to Dubai from Dusseldorf (without children though)
and found them to be very good with no problems whatsoever and always
got the pre-assigned seats. I must say though that we are Skywards

Seats on A340-500 to Sydney very problematic. Overall cabin good, but

Brisbane to Birmingham involved 6 separate flights. Travelling with an
8 year old I would not do the trip in one hit! We had stopovers in Dubai
and Singapore. I would definitely recommend this for those travelling
with kids, it broke the journey up and we were able to sightsee, shop
and sleep before resuming our journey much more refreshed and only 7
hours on the plane each sector. We travelled economy, and due to always
checking in very early were seated in the cabin behind business class
(which meant we were served first). We were offered hot towels at the
start of each sector, I found the seats to be comfortable, the seat
pitch fine. Food was lovely and plentiful and ahead of other airlines,
plenty of drinks, the service excellent. Some of the planes had the odd
loose item or threads showing. Entertainment system was excellen.
My daughter was treated marvellously by the staff while onboard, and was
given a lovely backpack filled with goodies which she thoroughly
enjoyed. Her meals were interesting and, and she was always served
first, again thoughtful and appreciated. She was also given a photo that
the staff took as a memento of her journey which was a lovely touch and
again, never been offered by another airline. I guess I'm used to
airports being crowded and didn't find Dubai a problem. I have flown a
fair bit over the years and had some horrible experiences, and have
stopped looking at my plane trip as part of my holiday. I just view it
as a means to an end, a way of getting to where I'm going, and as long
as me and my luggage get there in one piece, I'm happy! When I consider
that Emirates was several hundred dollars cheaper than other airlines
and every facet of their service was superior to others i have flown
with, it wins hands down - other issues notwithstanding.

DUS-DXB-DUS in Business Class. The A330 were not the newest and the seat config 2-3-2 means it is not spacious. The trick is that the seats and
the armrests are slightly narrower then one may expect and the windows
seats are really tight near the windows. For a 7 hr flight the seat
recline is fine but on longer flights the are not much better then on
LTU charter flights in their comfort class. The food was average,
meaning the main course, the starter and the desert was fine. Crew was
okay on both flights. What was positive on the flight to DXB was the way
the dinner was presented. It was a flight which arrived at 11 pm so more
or less a flight where people do no necessarily sleep. Overall it took
us 3-4 hours for dinner which was really appreciated as I find it boring
to sit in an 'aluminium tube'. The quality of drinks (wines) was also
okay but not outrageous. What really was terrible is when we landed in
DXB and a bus took us over the whole airport. Travel time was at least
20 minutes if not more. Check in for both flights was very fast and
good. Emirates has a good connection from DUS but if I had a choice I
would go for a better price/quality ratio.

Why do Emirates choose to put this small seat pitch on the aircraft with
which they fly their longest routes? It was unbearable, 14 hours with
the seat in front resting on my knees, unable to use the footrest. DXB-
BHX flight was operated by a B777-300ER. After 14 hours jammed in the
seat of the A340 this was bliss. So now we know - the dividing line
between heaven and hell is 1 inch wide - 34 inch pitch as opposed to 33
inch pitch. Presumably Emirates give their 777 economy passengers an
extra inch of pitch to compensate for squishing them into a 3-4-3
configuration instead of the standard 3-3-3 of other airlines.

DXB when it is busy good luck finding a seat in either of the j class
lounges - extremely busy most of the time. Have to say all in all a very

the old in flight entertainment and very old seats let them down
