CHC-SYD 777-300, First time on EK, Seat was OK though massage feature either didn't work or is
very weak! Service was efficient though a little impersonal, food was great, ICE system is
overly complicated (which explains the instruction manual provided). Overall a good flight,
though I'm left wondering what all the fuss about EK is all about.

MEL-DXB-VIE-DXB-MEL. I was recommended to fly with Emirates as their service was meant to be
fantastic. Flying direct to Dubai from Melbourne is a terrible flight. Food mediocre, seats
cramped and don't fully recline and service pretty pathetic. The business class lounge
overcrowded although the showers were lovely. Flight to Vienna was better with a lie flat seat
(for the short part of my journey!). The flight crew were inconsistent with service and
several of the choices on the menu were unavailable. I won't be flying Emirates business again.

LHR-DXB B777-300. Late departure due to late arrival of incoming aircraft. Emirates Lounge at
LHR very good. Crew were good and so was the food. ICE Entertainment is probably the best
around at the moment. Return on A380. first flight on this type - impressed with the aircraft
and space offered but the gap to get into a business class seat is not great. Crew attentive
and food above average.

LGW-DXB-BKK, BKK-HKG-BKK-DXB-LGW. Service excellent and started with lounge at Gatwick.
Bussed at Dubai but this is not exceptional. Food onboard good and plentiful including drinks
and champagne. Flight to BKK on A380 a great experience. Business class cabin very
impressive. Aircraft different on most sectors but level of comfort in seats maintained
throughout. Dubai transit can be a bewildering experience due to lack of info boards. Cabin
crew good with high service levels. Chauffeur service in London and Hong Kong worked very well.

LGW-DXB-MAA, returning COK-DXB-LGW. I'm about average height so legroom was adequate, but
what was most uncomfortable was the lack of foot rests on any of the flights. My feet only
just reached the floor and the edge of the seat dug into the back of my thighs. On the Dubai
- India sectors the act of reclining the seat actually raised the front of the seat making
matters much worse. If you're travelling economy don't sit in the middle third of the
aircraft. One food trolley starts from the rear, the other from the front. Both will run out
of the most popular choice on the menu before they get to you. It happened to us on 3 out of
the 4 flights. Service polite and satisfactory, but not what I would call efficient.

Birmingham - Dubai - Shanghai. Quite disappointed with the reality, after watching the ads and
web pictures. After reading about new generation economy seats with new levels of comfort, the
reality is no better than flying with a budget airline to Spain - very old fashioned decor,
virtually no knee-room, and a plastic recess near the top of the seat that sticks into your
shoulder area. However, food was good, service pleasing. This was a one-off flight due to my
usual carrier being unavailable - I'm unlikely to book again.

LGW-DXB-BNE. Lounge at LGW good with friendly staff and good pre-flight eating options.
Business class lie-flat seats on LGW-DXB provided a good nights' sleep but food on this sector
not very good. Lounge at DXB overcrowded, uncomfortable and lacking enough facilities such as
showers. Having to queue for 45 mins for a shower while in transit to Australia is not what
you get from business class in most other airlines. Seat on DXB-BNE sector awful - cramped,
uncomfortable and doesn't lie flat - ruined the flight for me. Very hard to sleep on such a
long (14 hour) sector. Food OK on that sector. In flight service overall fairly good.
Entertainment system the same on both flights - good but not as user friendly as on other
airlines and could benefit from more choice of movies.

BKK-Dubai on 777ER and Dubai - LHR on A380. BKK-Dubai was fairly empty and I had 4 seats to
myself. The lounge in Dubai for silver card holders is comfortable and good quality food. The
second flight from Dubai was also very empty and I was impressed with the crew service eg.
greeting me by name, welcoming me back, offering my meal choice before other passengers.
Emirates are trying to move away from the production line approach with their centre aisle
trolleys in order to give better service - sadly, crew are finding this confusing and it does
slow the meal service considerably. I found the food onboard unpleasant and banal. The ICE
system is outstanding with excellent sound and PTV width. The legroom and seat comfort on the
A380 is far better than 777s - pleased that Emirates have decided to remove the legrests which
cut into tall passengers legs.

DXB-LHR in B777-300 and return LGW-DXB B777-200. Dubai Airport T3 is massive but still
departed from T1. ICE system good but the variety lower than expected. Food was OK. FA's are
doing a job only and not at all a service as we were travelling with two kids aged 3 and 1.
Quality of the service is lower than the other middle eastern competitors.

Melbourne to Singapore - great flight, good leg room, nice food. Cabin crew good with the
kids. Singapore to Melbourne, still a great flight but the food was pretty average and small
servings. Their 'ICE' entertainment system is fantastic.

Further to my comments of 5 October, I must warn Skywards members of the drastic changes
Emirates have put into place in their Skywards programme with effect from the New Year. Most
members will be seriously disadvantaged by these changes and I would strongly advise you to
review the new programme before making further bookings with Emirates. Needless to mention and
also from the many reviews it is clear that Emirates standards in the last year have fallen
way short of expectation and that of its new competitors.
