LHR to ATL in business, my first experience of this airline and not very favourable. Lounge
at LHR (shared with other airlines) was busy and not very relaxing. Flight delayed for over 1
hour with minimal information (bad weather in ATL). Old seating on board in business, but
reasonable space and comfort. Cabin crew rather abrupt and insincere (not very smartly turned
out either). Food truly awful, in fact I am still shocked at what was one of the worst meals
I've ever had on a plane, including economy on various 3rd world carriers. The so-called
chef's speciality dish consisted of soggy overcooked pasta smothered in a watery sauce -
totally inedible. When I (politely) complained and asked if I could have something else, the
FA told me that there was no alternative meal available, but I could have my ice-cream early!
Words fail me. Given the late departure, it was inevitable that I would miss my onward
connection (also with Delta) at ATL. I raised this with the FA during the flight, hoping they
could do something to help, but they were totally disinterested in this problem. Ground staff
at ATL were a bit better and managed to get me on a later flight. Overall not impressed,
though my return flight to LHR was better.

Delta/Northwest from DTW to AMS. Detroit is a nice airport and Delta's lounge is pretty good.
Flight was delayed and there was confusion about when we would leave, but delay was only an
hour. Very uncomfortable seat on a former NWA A330. I honestly thought I sat on a board. As a
late night flight there was a light menu as part of the sleeper service on the menu - but they
didn't have any of the light meals. Ended up not eating as it was too hard to just get part of
a meal and not have to wait up most of the night. FA's cheerful and tried to be helpful.
Amsterdam airport a bit confusing but there were plenty of staff around to help direct
traffic.

DL1 economy class to Heathrow, return. Seats on the 767 were slightly more comfortable than
BA 747s. Check in and boarding good, in flight service good and food was okay. I took this
same series of flights in January 2009 and in a period of one year there was a huge
improvement.

London to New York return on Delta and it was a very pleasant experience. The route was
extremely turbulent but flight deck and cabin crew ensured passengers felt safe and assured.
The meal service was good, in flight entertainment was excellent - on demand movies and TV and
the inflight WiFi a huge bonus! The price was much cheaper than any other airline, but I was
very happy with quality of service and comfort.

LAX to RDU via ATL. The flight out a packed redeye on 767 with AVOD. Early morning connection
to Raleigh on very old 757 - TV monitors were either too dark or malfunctioning, but it was a
short flight. The flight attendants were pleasant on this flight, as were crew on return
flight to Atlanta. It's funny to see them make such a fuss over recycling the used service
items. ATL-LAX was again 767 with AVOD - the crew were on their game, so it was a great
flight. It helps to do research in advance regarding aircraft type and entertainment options,
as well as familiarize yourself with the airport layout in Atlanta - it can be a zoo, but only
if you let it be one.

JFK to Accra on 767-300 with the old reclining seats that do not go flat. I found the seats
comfortable to sleep in. Despite being narrow, you can move onto your side. They give you a
full size pillow and polyester comforter. The pairing of the seats is great if you are
traveling with someone, but there is not much privacy if you are on your own. AVOD is also
fine, with lots of movie and TV choices. The one thing that did bug me was the non-stop
ringing of the FA call button as a result of the AVOD hand set, which contains the call
button, being set in the side of the armrest beside the seat. As passengers shifted while
sleeping through the night they would accidentally press the call buttons with their legs or
butts and the bells would go off time and again. FAs preferred not to wake the offenders up,
and so the rest of us suffered with the noise. This ringing is what kept me up all night, not
the lack of seat comfort. Food was fine, and FAs were otherwise fantastic.

My daughter and I had flights from Las Vegas to FL and back for the holidays. Because we
planned on spending more than a week at home we opted to bring our puppy with us. The cost is
$100 each way to put your pet under the seat in front of you. We were assigned seats with
vents under them leaving no room for our pet. We were lucky that kind-hearted passengers
allowed us to put our pet under the seat in front of them! In addition to paying the hefty pet
fee, passengers with pets are not allowed to check in online therefore getting a "discount" on
the baggage fee. So additional charges had to be paid at the airport for checking our bags. I
reached out to Delta "customer service" twice and each time received a canned answer stating
how sorry they were for the inconvenience and how the concerns would be considered for future
passengers. The responses were almost identical with each response. Bottom line - they
couldn't care less.

SNA-ATL (Y) ATL-BWI (F). Fast and efficient check-in at SNA. Service courteous and
professional on-board. Felt sorry for the SNA-ATL flight attendants dealing with all the
large bags passengers were trying to jam overhead. Welcome drink in F was a bottle of water
at the seat. Usual long wait for bags at BWI.

ATL-LHR, LGW-ATL. Atlanta-LHR 767 400 with lie flat beds - I am not a fan of this product.
Seats too narrow, feet are too enclosed and the space allowed for feet does not allow for
turning onto your front. The tables are little weird. Baggage claim at LHR a nightmare for
oversize items (not Delta's fault, but despite priority bags one of my pieces was last off the
plane and oversize carousel not working. The items had to be put on a hand truck and
physically trucked from the plane to reclaim) it took over an hour to get that 1 piece.
LGW-ATL 767 400 with old style business elite seats. More comfortable (although not lie flat).
You don't get the same feeling of claustrophobia. Despite the warnings about extra security
and movement restrictions on board the aircraft we were allowed use of carry on, allowed to
bathrooms, had skymap on monitors for the final hour. Maybe the rules were relaxed that day or
the cabin crew didn't know exactly what rules TSA had imposed. Baggage again chaotic in ATL.
Despite seeing the gate agent in LGW put priority tags on 2 pieces of baggage, by the time
they arrived in ATL the bag tag was still on, but not the all important priority tag. Took
over an hour again to claim 3 pieces.

Manchester to Las Vegas return with a changeover at Atlanta. It was our first time with Delta
after flying with different US airlines over the last nine years and impressed with most
members of staff on all flights. The meal in the long haul flights was disappointing with
chicken/pasta offered and only a biscuit for dessert. We did find our seats very
uncomfortable but luckily had blow up cushions which we used. The inflight magazines made me
cringe as they were tatty and well used. It did irritate us that the luggage bins were filled
with bags that are now nearly all suitcases which should have been put into the hold.

AMS-ATL-PBI and back. Only the new B737-700 had AVOD. Leather seats on all aircraft, nice, but
seat pitch quite tight. Too much carry on luggage for the overhead bins on the domestic
flights, causing some delays. Flight attendants did their job well but without any joy. So far
I've never seen a smile on a Delta Airlines flight attendant. Food was chicken or pasta,
tasty, but in small portions. Advice to eat something at the airport before you board.
All the flights were delayed from 15 minutes up to an hour due to mechanical problems and bad
weather. Didn't find flying with Delta a bad experience but not good either.

JFK-LHR on B767-400 with lie flat Business Class seats. 1x2x1 configuration. Interesting
design and at 5'8" not a problem for me to find a comfortable position as a bed. I imagine
anyone 6 feet or taller would have different view. Service was usual for Delta - middle of the
road. No arrivals lounge at LHR. I used the Star Alliance Lounge in T1 for a shower which was
excellent. Seems they will struggle on this route given the many options with superior overall product.

My review of Delta is based on domestic flights. My husband and I flew out on a red-eye
enroute to Dallas with a connecting flight in Atlanta. I have flown red-eye flights before
and never have had a problem. First issue, Delta overbooks all of their flights. If Delta
wants all of their planes to be filled to brim, then they should train all of their employees
to be able to handle the crowd. I understand that first class and business class customers pay
more and they should get service that is worth their money, but it doesn't mean that Delta
employees at the gate and flight attendants should treat economy passengers like they are less
than human. When it was time for us to board the plane, they called zones 2-4 all at the same
time and everyone rushed towards the gate. The flight was already late and once we were on the
plane, flight attendants yelled at everyone to sit down. Because of the baggage fees now,
everyone wants to bring all of their luggage on the plane so passengers boarding later will
have nowhere to stow their carryon. What happens? The flight attendants will rudely tell you
your carryon will to be checked and you can't pick them up until your final destination. After
all of this, a flight attendant got on the intercom and apologized only to their "premium
customers". I will never fly Delta again for domestic flights. Customer service is non-
existent.

Having flown with Delta for quite a few years, I have noted how things are going down. A
recent flight from the UK to USA return was very disappointing. FAs do not want to help
anymore, everything seems too much trouble. Inflight entertainment (when it works) is poor and
the little earphones are poor quality and hurt after a few minutes. The seats are rock hard,
even with a pillow to sit on. What is happening to the food. What was once something to look
forward to, is now a thing of dread. The menu is the same chicken or pasta and the dessert is
now a biscuit (cookie). If anybody from Delta reads these reviews, then please do something.
We pay therefore we expect.
