Arrived in Terminal 1 midday aboard a flight from Manila on a low fare carrier. Immediately after disembarkation there was a security check similar to what is normally the case for departing passengers - officers professional and friendly. Immigration and customs officers efficient and friendly. Five minutes wait for a taxi and on our way downtown. Signs were posted in the waiting area indicating that during rush hour adjacent to weekends and public holidays waiting for a taxi can take much longer time. Return to Manila was early on a Sunday morning. Waiting in the check-in line took around ten minutes. GST refund went smoothly with no wait. Around five minutes were spent in the immigration line; security check was at the gate and entailed no wait. Prior to entering the waiting area at the gate a sign advised that free Internet was available. However although there was free wifi service available it was not connected to the Internet and thus of no use. Terminal 1 is under refurbishment and will remain so until 2012. But even with work on-going I still found it nice much better that many other terminals in the region.

I have been to Singapore and twice transited through it. Everything about it is brilliant and outstanding. I have travelled extensively all over the world and so far I have not encountered a better airport.

Had two long layovers (overnight) here. Camping out at the Star Alliance Gold lounge was not recommended as the staff made it clear the Ambassador Transit Hotel was a better venue (true except for it was sold out). Fell asleep on the chair only to be awakened by Changi security asking for my passport and boarding pass. This is Singapore. Otherwise there are quite a few things to do here assuming you have the energy. Great food outlets! One important thing to mention: if you're transiting thru Japan do not purchase any liquids in excess of 100ml even if it's secured. Has to abandon my purchase at Narita.

What a great airport. I used T1 and the budget Terminal. Free WI FI good eateries nice shops and great people. I will go out of my way to connect through Chiangi. Immigration was a breeze security very quick. The amazing discovery for me was the fee for left baggage. 13 days for €40 a bargain. If I had to take with me the fee would have been $18 per kilo.

Based on international standards Singapore Changi Airport is near world-class with a variety of shopping and dining facilities easy navigation and fast check-in. Facilities provided are very good free Internet is provided and duty-free shopping available around terminals. Only setback is ambience in terminals 1 and 2 thankfully Terminal 1 would be undergoing renovations. Never had lost baggage in any trips.

Had two transits recently 6hrs and 2hrs respectively. My first impression on arriving in T3 was that it looked dated and rather tired with truly nauseous carpet combinations including adjacent sections of grossly mismatched patterns. Not so good if you're jet lagged and headachy. Signage and transfers pretty good but considerable variation between quality and facilities at each terminal. Some distances daunting and getting from say T2 to T1 confirming transfer and obtaining boarding cards shopping and chilling out in airline lounge in 2 hour window feels like work. Six hours based in shared lounge in T2 not so great international flag carriers' own lounges being far superior. Duty free shopping appears to vary considerably from T3 (extensive) to T1 (basic) so serious shopping requires planning and time. Superbly maintained planting in T2 very pleasant and access to exterior (weather permitting) good. Helpful staff though combination of design and lighting tends to make them invisible in what at first glance appears to be deserted transfer desks. Still a very good airport to be in for a long transit but architectural style decor and lighting now very dated (basically airport as warehouse + garden) in comparison with new signature designer airports in HK etc. In particular isolation from daylight and world outside becomes claustrophobic after a few hours when added to lengthy long haul flight just to get to Changi.

Terminal 1 is a mess due to construction and redevelopment. By far the busiest terminal. Not good for food choices as very limited. I would go to terminal 3 for food. Stayed at transit hotel where the beds are really small and can get expensive for longer stays. Would recommend the swimming pool - nice spot.

The airport is huge but extremely pleasant and spacious with carpeting throughout. There is free wifi but you have to get the password from one of the enquiry desks and I had to wait almost one hour as they were unstaffed (at 11pm so expected this). Changing terminals is easy using the small trains which link the terminals although it is possible to walk. I walked from one end of terminal 3 to the other - about a 15 minute walk just to look around and there are various shops and a tv viewing area with comfortable seats. At midnight I booked myself into the Ambassador Lounge (around $30 in Singapore dollars) where there were comfortable seats free wifi complimentary coffee tea soft drinks and snacks which included some hot spring rolls and rice. I slept easily and on waking the food had been changed to breakfast items including cereals with milk. Use of the shower was included with a large clean towel supplied. Then a stroll down to the boarding gate for my onward flight. An excellent experience.

It is spacious and clean. The only thing that bothered me was the Skytrains from T3 to T1. I arrived in T3 and because the airport was so busy we had to go to T1 to leave. That was a pain. But overall the airport is very good and clean and all the open windows along the corridors allow for free viewing of aircraft landing and taking off. One other time we were delayed for six hours and went to use the pool which is an excellent facility for those who are stuck in the airport for hours at a time.

Terminal 1 is currently a disaster. It seems that Changi is overloading Terminal 1 with flights (even taking into account the current upgrading work going on) while leaving Terminals 2 and 3 with much fewer flights. This of course gives Singapore Airlines a huge advantage over European competitors who have to land at Terminal 1. I recently arrived at terminal 1 and found that the passport queue was incredibly long. Luckily I was travelling with only hand luggage so I could take the Sky train to Terminal 3 and pass customs there in stead. As usual customs in Terminal 3 was deserted. Singapore authorities should remember that the majority of foreigners arrive through terminal 1 and they are therefore now getting a dreadful first impression of Singapore. Singapore Changi Airport should most certainly consider diverting flights to terminal 2 and 3 while renovations are ongoing - and possibly afterwards as well unless customs facilities are greatly increased. Singapore Changi has always been my favourite airport - and I hope it will be so again in the future: But for now: Terminals 2 and 3 are excellent. Terminal 1 poor.
