"never fly Korean Air again"
C Parish (South Korea)
Appalling service and organisation from Korean Air at Incheon airport. My flight is due to depart at 8.25am so I ensured that I arrived at the airport with plenty of time to spare at 5.50am. I had assumed that arriving 2 and a half hours before my flight would ensure that my airport experience was relaxed and unhurried. Sadly, this is not the case. Despite having many early morning flights, no Korean Air check in desks opened until 6.10am, despite the fact that there were literally thousands of people waiting at this time. It was so crowded that it was impossible to see what line was for what area, and I spent 40 minutes before managing to speak to a member of ground staff who informed me that I was stood in the wrong line (for self check which I was unable to use as I was flying to China and needed a visa check). I then joined the right line for a woefully inadequately manned section of desks that took an additional hour and 10 minutes to clear. Of course this was then followed by additional queues for security and immigration that I then had to push my way to the front of to avoid missing my flight. Surely it was no surprise to Korean Air how many flights and passengers they were expecting at that time? Then why did the check in desks not open earlier to start processing passengers earlier? Why, when they knew there would be so many passengers, did they not have more ground staff to assist the frankly dangerous crowd situation and make it clear to passengers exactly where they needed to line up? In all the time it took me to queue to eventually check in, I only saw 2 ground staff who were looking rather harassed and say they "couldn't help me". Congratulations Korean Air - you have successfully ensured that I will never fly with you again

"airport is clean"
1 reviews Reece Henry (United Kingdom)
Airport I visit regularly due to connections out of central Asia. Overall the airport is clean and the transfer is efficient. The departure gates are clean and WIFI is available. Facilities and restaurant options are very disappointing. Currently a new food section has been built but this involves waiting in a line for a seat. For a airport of this size they have definitely not focused on other facilities. The best option if you have a long transfer wait is to use the facilities through customs. The airport has much better options, movie theatre, restaurants etc in the train station area on the outside of the terminal. One good option to use if you have 5 hr plus wait is the free tours, I have used this before and found it a great way to pass the time if you have a long transfer.

"airport is terribly ineffective"
Martin Robert (Sweden)
Seoul Incheon Airport is terribly ineffective. The queues are a disgrace to get through security. The management of the airport must do something as people are standing basically from the check in desks over the hall. This is not a very modern structure. Get yourself organised please.

"extremely well organised"
Darryl Dsouza (India)
A great airport. Its extremely well organised, clean, many facilities like toilets etc within easy reach, good options for reasonably priced food. Extensive duty free, nice open ambience, plenty of seating, cultural experiences. All in all a great place to arrive with super public transport and great for departures too. Help desks are very accommodating, there are English speaking persons manning some desks too.

"plenty of seating everywhere"
Faustino Asprilla (Netherlands)
Any airport with such cleanliness like ICN deserves a 7 out of 10 at least. Generally clear sign and directions, service desks and many shops, the departure was all very decent. Plenty of seating everywhere, large smoking lounges, and no need to walk long distances with shuttles and moving sidewalks connecting the different terminals and gates. However, upon arrival there had been a variety of queues at both the gate and customs. Especially customs took a while, which is not ideal after the many long intercontinental flights that come in here. Be advised that in case you are desperately in search of some western fast food such as MD, BK or KFC, don't hestitate and grab your chance at what I believe it was near the departe terminal check-in counters. I figured I would find one after customs as well, I finally ended up with Taco Bell as coming most close. All together, I give it a 8-rating. Fix the queues and I make it 9.

Seoul Incheon Airport customer review
Dave Wilson (Canada)
Yes, it used to be one of the best airports in the world. Unfortunately it has taken a major hit recently as it simply cannot cope with the increased number of passengers. The short line ups for immigration/security that used to be a feature of Incheon are gone. Now are horrendous long line ups and a surprising level of disorganisation in their immigration system. When there's line up's taking 45 minutes, why are not all the immigration lanes staffed. Ok they blame the influx of Chinese visitors in recent years but this is a poor excuse - the airport has to manage it. One additional point - there are no security/immigration lanes for business/first class passengers. Strange. Very sad to see an airport which I have complimented before becoming so bad. It is very frustrating to travel in this airport now.

Seoul Incheon Airport customer review

Though I did not see much of the airport, the airport was pretty crowded. You have a high chance of being stopped in your tracks by other people walking towards you. I can see why it is a 5-star airport since there are a lot of shops and restaurants to keep you occupied. The gate area, however, wasn't a place I particularly liked. I couldn't rest or settle down because there was constant moving everywhere. I ended up going to the lounge, which was crowded, but better than the gate. I think that it is a wonderful airport overall for travelers, despite the long and slow-looking security lines.

Seoul Incheon Airport customer review

Was in transit on Korean Air from KUL to CTS. Seoul Incheon is a really big airport and I finally understood why it wins so many awards. You don't need to leave Incheon to experience the culture of South Korea as the airport has many cultural centers. The airport also has many areas for relaxing too with many sleeping chairs and complimentary showers along with saunas. Aviation enthusiasts can spot departing and arriving planes from both runways located at either end of the terminal. The only drawback is that the satellite terminal that houses all international airlines is inaccessible to passengers who do not have departing flights there however the retail stores are the same as the contact pier that houses Korean Air and Asiana Airlines. Overall it's a nice airport with many opportunities to fill your time before the Korean Air or Asiana Airlines flight.

Seoul Incheon Airport customer review
Robert B Arnot (United States)
This appears to be a spectacular airport. The infrastructure is excellent, the hallways vast, the planes on time. Everything runs with great efficiency. But Seoul destroys the experience with a nightmarish transfer desk. Even in the early hours of the morning there are hundreds and hundreds of travellers crowded into a vast coral of zig zagging lanes that go up to another security gate. There is no special line for frequent travelers, business class, the elderly or small children. Everyone is throw into the cauldron and it is dreadful. This kind of senseless blockade increases consumer anxiety as they try desperately to make a connecting gate. They took all my luggage apart and made me repack for no good reason. It's borish, uncaring "service" and ruins the entire Incheon airport experience for no good reason except for terrible planning and execution.

I cannot see why is this airport mentioned as one of the best in the world, especially as security is extremely slow. No priority is given to people in a hurry and there is no fast track. Facilities are good and wifi is strong but the airport is a bit dated and perhaps in need of some modernisation. No smile, no welcoming attitude.
