Seoul Incheon Airport

Though I did not see much of the airport, the airport was pretty crowded. You have a high chance of being stopped in your tracks by other people walking towards you. I can see why it is a 5-star airport since there are a lot of shops and restaurants to keep you occupied. The gate area, however, wasn't a place I particularly liked. I couldn't rest or settle down because there was constant moving everywhere. I ended up going to the lounge, which was crowded, but better than the gate. I think that it is a wonderful airport overall for travelers, despite the long and slow-looking security lines.

Was in transit on Korean Air from KUL to CTS. Seoul Incheon is a really big airport and I finally understood why it wins so many awards. You don't need to leave Incheon to experience the culture of South Korea as the airport has many cultural centers. The airport also has many areas for relaxing too with many sleeping chairs and complimentary showers along with saunas. Aviation enthusiasts can spot departing and arriving planes from both runways located at either end of the terminal. The only drawback is that the satellite terminal that houses all international airlines is inaccessible to passengers who do not have departing flights there however the retail stores are the same as the contact pier that houses Korean Air and Asiana Airlines. Overall it's a nice airport with many opportunities to fill your time before the Korean Air or Asiana Airlines flight.

This appears to be a spectacular airport. The infrastructure is excellent, the hallways vast, the planes on time. Everything runs with great efficiency. But Seoul destroys the experience with a nightmarish transfer desk. Even in the early hours of the morning there are hundreds and hundreds of travellers crowded into a vast coral of zig zagging lanes that go up to another security gate. There is no special line for frequent travelers, business class, the elderly or small children. Everyone is throw into the cauldron and it is dreadful. This kind of senseless blockade increases consumer anxiety as they try desperately to make a connecting gate. They took all my luggage apart and made me repack for no good reason. It's borish, uncaring "service" and ruins the entire Incheon airport experience for no good reason except for terrible planning and execution.

I cannot see why is this airport mentioned as one of the best in the world, especially as security is extremely slow. No priority is given to people in a hurry and there is no fast track. Facilities are good and wifi is strong but the airport is a bit dated and perhaps in need of some modernisation. No smile, no welcoming attitude.

Spent quite a few hours in Incheon on transit to and from Manila from Heathrow. It is like a little city everything you will ever need. It is spotless on the way back landed at 04.40 most of the shops are shut but slept well on the seats till 07.00 when things had woken up. the 8.5 hours waiting were not a problem. Staff very helpful plenty of meal choices and a hotel if you need to have a room. This is without doubt the best airport in the world.

Incheon is probably the nicest airport I have ever traveled through. Its a really easy airport to navigate and also very modern and clean. Most of the signs are in english/korean so it's not a problem at all. One of the things I found during my 4hr layover in Seoul was the showers travelers are allowed to use. You can purchase a towel to use for 2 dollars and it makes you feel great to get a shower in for your next flight.

I connected through ICN on an Asiana flight between LAX and HKG. The terminal is well- designed airy and spacious with plenty of English signs and speakers. Connecting between gates is a breeze. The terminal is surgically clean and has an excellent selection of dining and shopping options appealing to Asian and Western travellers alike. There is plenty of space to sit and relax between flights. The customs/immigration staff do a good job of giving priority to connecting passengers and moving them along quickly.

I had been totally in awe of HK International Airport for many years for its total package then came Incheon. The signs are very clearly appointed in both English and Korean the airport in itself is cleanly smartly planned even the Immigration officers are polite and friendly unlike most Immigration staff who are cold intimidating and at times arrogant. Seoul Incheon is really a top-notch airport. One thing I noticed though that on my stopover in Incheon to Seattle I only saw one small kiosk selling books newspapers and magazines...ALL in Korean. I tried to walk around the area but couldn't find a stand that sells these reading materials in English I found it rather odd. The restaurant selection close to gates 40 and above are not that many and mostly all are filled to the rafters this is something that is not experienced in HK Intl. However that aside I believe Seoul Incheon deserve their star rating as they have really shown much care and attention in handling their passengers in the most comfortable manner. I just don't know how their duty free goods are priced as converting WON to US dollars or Chinese Yuan can be quite confusing but that's another story.

A new airport that is very clean and stylish. Transport to the airport is good with a subway and buses both cheap and plentiful but they all seem to finish around midnight. After that time the taxi drivers try to scam you if you are not Korean. Expect them to charge you double what you'd be charged on the meter. Lived in Seoul for a long period so when I used the airport to leave the country I tried to buy travel insurance at the airport this was denied to me on the basis that I am not a Korean despite having residency status at the time. I observed customs doing random checks each time the person checked was a non Korean seemed strange.

On the whole Incheon is a fantastic airport the only aspect I didn't enjoy was the connection. Found my connecting flight and gate number on the screen and headed to the security to go back through but my flight wasn't on the screen at the security point. So I head in anyway as there was no other information to be told "not here other other". Through talking to other passengers in the same situation we managed to work our way on to the other security check and go through. Apart from that Incheon is a very good airport.
