Rhodes Airport

✅ Trip Verified | Yet another airport that does not provide fresh drinking water free of charge airside. Having had a discussion with the security people at passport control they assured me there was no provision for potable water. The only option was to buy a plastic bottle of water or use a tap in the toilet but that was not recommended! It makes a mockery of the 4 dustbins for recycling different items and that are scattered around the airport - see picture. It should become mandated that airports provide water free of charge. Any claims to be "green" are otherwise total garbage.

Not Verified | Can't fault this airport at all, the staff are very friendly & helpful. I found the experience of arrival & departure stress free. It's nice & clean & one of the friendliest airports I have ever been to on my holidays abroad.

Not Verified | Awful airport. Very few staff for a great deal of passengers. Queued for nearly an hour to check in with 3 staff. No water fountain facilities as is standard everywhere else. Staff in restaurants unwilling to help (but you can definitely buy water). It’s 30 degrees outside. And the air conditioning is terrible. Announcements are poor. Fraport are more interested in making a ton of money. That’s what happens when there’s no competition around. They’re making a bad impression of the great country of Greece.

✅ Trip Verified | Absolute carnage, huge queue at check-in but in fairness had 10 desks open so got through fairly quickly , security pretty quick as well then the problems begin. On entering the departure area there was extreme over crowding , No seats, people sitting and standing everywhere, the limited food venues totally full with large queues, passport control was reasonably quick which takes you to the non Schengen area departure area which was also extremely busy with the same overcrowding. Too many tourists in too small an area, Not sure if always this busy but beware of potential overcrowding.

Not Verified | Absolute chaos. Boarding queues stretched the length of the terminal, back to the duty free section. Constant Greek language tannoy announcements. No guidance offered at any stage. Delayed an hour and a quarter.

✅ Trip Verified | Just one small step above cattle barn status. This so called Airport is not set up and unable to accommodate the hordes of tourists that pour in an out of Rhodes. Shengen flights are delayed beyond anything I have seen anywhere else. There are not enough seats, except if you fly non-Shengen. Great advertising for Europe incapacity to treat with a minimal decency travelers spending their cash in this island. The spectacle of people and children laying everywhere in the floor in overcrowded rooms with no or not enough AC feels like being in a third world country hospital after a disaster. Official airport staff will explain that it’s much worse in other places. I think they should be allowed to travel. This place is despicable. Stay away by all means.

Not Verified | The staff are rude and doors are locked at departure lounge and the place is a sweatbox. You can't find a tour operator on the upper level to help if needed.

✅ Trip Verified | Extremely crowded and doesn't feel like there's air-conditioning at a time of year that you can barely breathe. Floors, bathrooms and chairs are dirty. People are sitting on the floor because there isn't enough seating. This very moment a family has surrounded me in an effort to be near the grandfather that is seated. No regard for covid or personal space. However, there is barely space to move around so they don't have a choice really. There aren't enough options to sit and eat. The bathrooms have a toilet roll device that doesn't work. I literally open all doors to find one where it is still functioning. About 30% of flush buttons are missing leaving holes in the wall. Lovely island but this airport is hell for my long layover.

Not Verified | We had a weeks holiday in Rhodes so arrived and departed. Our arrival at approx 2300 local time was easy and quick. We were off the aircraft, through passport control, baggage collection and customs within 45 minutes. Our departure was longer and check in queues were lengthy with over an hours wait- however I believe that is the responsibility of the airline, not the airport. All staff were courteous and cheerful. We had a snack whilst waiting for our flight, the quality wasn't good and it was very overpriced, so whilst I wouldn't choose to eat in the airport again I would be happy enough to use the airport and look forward to visiting Rhodes again soon.

Not Verified | One member of our party has special needs and requires the special assistance service. The airport ground staff were exemplary. We travel regularly. The assistance, kindness, efficiency and responsiveness of all the ground staff we encountered was the best that we have experienced. I would recommend Rhodes airport as an airport with staff that genuinely assist those with special and additional needs.
