"this terminal is musty and old"

Trip Verified | I hate this airport. From arrival to departure this terminal is musty and old even though they recently did some renovations. When you get to your gate you have to line up again to go thru another screening which I find no purpose. The lady that checked my bag had her hands all over my stuff. She was swiping her hand in there like she was digging for gold. Little did I know she swiped my earbuds that I kept in the little pocket. I wouldn't accuse anyone of this but I looked everywhere and I didn't open my bag after that. She was the last person to touch it. Be aware when you are going thru this line. You also have to go thru this procedure even if you just have to use the bathroom which is right next to the seating area.

"worst airport in the world"

Trip Verified | The worst airport in the world. They keep transit passengers with 24hrs transit time inside the airport. Immigration people doesn't allow foreign nationals who does not require a visa to enter Manila and just keep them all in the airport even though they have booked a hotel nearby to have a proper rest. I came from an 11 hours flight and another 9 hrs flight the next day. I arrived at 1630LT today, 19Sep. It's already 1930LT, and there's a long line at the transit area. Airport staff are very unfriendly and unhelpful.

"Improvements on security staff necessary!"

Not Verified | Again and again, travel issues at NAIA Airport Manila. For me still the worst airport out of 67 airports discovered in my life. Security personnel are working without using their brain, training of them was only on being "strict", last time they confiscated a breakfast knife with signature "Emirates" as a sharp utensil, this time they confiscated a metal teeth cleaner 3cm needle type. If you want to leave the check in area for a restroom which is 10 meters away you have again to line up again from the outside of the building and do security checks again. No free wifi which works without a Philippines telephone number, no possibility to receive verification code by email, only text. The 2 points out of 10 for the Airport belongs only for the friendly and good organized check in personnel from Royal Brunei, and the use of a fast lane opened for me. Improvements on security staff necessary!

"Very chaotic and disorganised"

Trip Verified | Departed at terminal 3 of the airport. Very chaotic and disorganised without any system in place. Very long long queues from passport control and specially even worst of worst at the security checks. I suggested at the passport checks that they should have a fast track lane for business class passengers but replied no difference for any types of ticket. Surely this official has no idea how much business class tickets cost and therefore needs further training/worksop related to their job. The same situation you would encounter thru out the terminals.

"worst airport I have ever been in"

Trip Verified | Airport is filthy. Chairs are filthy. Toilets are filthy. Crowded / disorganized / unstructured airport. First airport in the world I have ever seen without departure boards. One needs to guess the gate. There are no information counters. PA system works intermittently. When it does work, it is unintelligible. Staff is uncommunicative. Stores only accept local currency in cash. There are no ATM's or money changers. A transit customer is therefore unable to buy food. There is no shopping in departure area. Local food stores only that accept only local cash. No credit card facilities. Noise level inside airport makes even a phone call impossible. Wifi does not work. There is not a single characteristic that is marginally acceptable. It is simply the worst airport I have ever been in - worldwide. I would avoid at all costs.

"confiscated bottled water"

Not Verified | After passing through security there are kiosks to buy snacks, food, bottled water, souvenirs. That is the area for boarding gates. But the airport confiscated bottled water bought from those kiosks. The security asked people to drink them all or throw the sealed bottled water. They even cordoned you in your boarding gate and if you happen to use the restroom, you need to pass through security again. They need to go see how other airports do so as not to inconvenience travellers.

"Absolutely horrendous"

Not Verified | Absolutely horrendous, and that's putting it lightly. I landed at Manila on a flight from Korea, and had a long transit (14hr) before the next leg of my journey. I was told that the city is in lockdown at the moment, so it isn't possible to book hotels outside the airport. My transit was in Terminal 1. I was made to sit in the most uncomfortable metallic chairs with nothing to do. There are no restaurants, save for a Jollibee with a limited menu and only take out service available (no restaurant seating). The floors in the transit waiting area looked like they hadn't been mopped or cleaned in days, with visible dirt and suspicious yellow liquid on the floor. The lines were ridiculously long for security, immigration, and check-in. There was limited seating, with most people sprawled out on chairs taking up 2-3 seats per person sleeping. Felt more like a refugee center than an international airport terminal. I asked about the terminal shuttle, thinking I would go to Terminal 3 (hearing there were lounges one could pay for). The staff told me the first shuttle was at 4:30. I show up at 4:20, and they said it left 10 minutes prior and there would not be another until 6am. Worst transit I have every experienced in my life, and by far the worst airport in Asia I have been to. Avoid at all costs if you can!

"by far the worst airport I've ever experienced"

Not Verified | I travel quite often and this is by far the worst airport I've ever experienced! I arrived a few hours early for my flight which was a massive mistake! To go from "restaurant" you need to go though security checks and to get back to the terminal you have to exit the airport and go back through security checks, same if you go for a smoke, security check after check. You should leave your lighter in the smoking area as they keep taking them! Even walking to the shop I got stopped and asked by four different security guards where I was going and asked to produce passport and tickets! The airport doesn't have any facilities what so ever! Avoid if possible!

"the terminal facilities are ok"

Trip Verified | This is a review of terminal 3 only, which might explain why it's more positive than most reviews on here. We use this terminal at least twice a year. It has the usual nonsense of putting your bags through x-ray at least 3 times and making you get half naked before allowing you through security but the terminal facilities are ok. The areas and toilets are clean, wifi is adequate, with plenty of charging points for phones and there are plentiful food outlets and shops. We always find the staff to be pleasant and helpful. Seating is hard and metallic, though.
