"found the airport well signed and easy to navigate"

(United Kingdom)

Verified Review | Visited Hamad Doha Airport on 21st November 2016 in Transit to Bangkok - LHR-DOH-BKK and return trip as well. On both experiences I had an easy transfer from my flight from LHR to connect to another flight to Bangkok and vice versa. The outbound trip I had at least 3 hours stop over in Doha and found the airport well signed and easy to navigate. Found transfers and easily got myself into departures for my connecting flight so had time to look around and get my bearings for my return trip 2 weeks later and a 1 hour connection which helped immensely. Finding the gates is easy and you have a transit train that can speed up your journey to the gate and get you there fast. The airport was clean and looks modern. Has touch screens to show you where you are so you can find your way around. Staff were helpful and willing to show you where to go and found the experience to be great. Would I use this airport again. Definately. Especially with the 1 hour connection time going back to LHR as it can be tight to connect from one flight to another with only 1 hour before departure but allayed my fears of missing my flight and easily found the gate and boarded. Only snag is down purely to passengers who use the moving walkway and not walk and hold people up who may have a short transit connection. This is not just down to this airport but many others too. Also I may add free wifi was fairly good.

"queued for well over 2 hours"

(United Kingdom)

Horrendous immigration, never, ever again will I visit Doha Hamad. We queued for well over 2 hours at this appalling airport. The worst out of 60 countries we've visisted. And the queue would've been longer had we not switched lines. It wasn't just the volume of people, but the lack of organisation, people arriving after us, getting ahead of us in the next queue. I wanted to organise the lazy staff stood around talking. I will never visit Doha again because of this appalling airport.

"disappointed with my experience"

(United Kingdom)

My choice of Qatar Airways led me to transfer at the Hamad Doha International Airport. While the airport itself looked fantastic, the management, especially the way how they managed transfer passengers for security screenings, on this particular occasion was chaotic and unsatisfactory. When I got off my flight QR579 (DEL-DOH) on 4 December 2016 and arrived at the Transfer Security Screenings, there were about 15 min before my next boarding started for Flight QR29 (DOH-EDI). There was someone at the flight information screen helping transfer passengers to identify their gates. She had a look at my ticket and told me to use the middle lane, which was supposed to be a faster. However, when I approached approached a member of staff by the queue, and showed him my ticket, he thought it was completely fine, as I had 50 min to board the aircraft, so I should just queue as normal. It then took me 45 min to get through the security, and I had to run crazily through the huge airport to Gate C13. Fortunately when I arrived at the gate, out of breath, 5 min before the scheduled gate-closing time, boarding had not started yet. While I was waiting in the security screening queue, I saw quite a few people with tickets showing boarding time more than one hour later than mine. I just did not understand how this "world's most technologically advanced" airport could not separate tighter-transfer passengers from those who had more time? I am really disappointed with my experience at this airport.

"a very bad experience"

(United Arab Emirates)

Verified Review | A very bad experience at Doha Hamad. It takes forever to pass the immigration. Not enough staff - 1 hour 25 mins of waiting time. This made the whole travel to Doha experience bad. Heard this from lots of friends but seeing is believing.

"things are slipping here"

(Qatar)

Verified Review | As a non Qatar Airways passenger today I found myself in the less nice parts of the airport. Less nice because resources, staff, desks more limited, and distances between check in, security, lounges etc that bit longer. Now I'm not complaining - it's more an observation about the little things. Check in for business class was slow and awkward. The lounge - oryx - lacking the range of food I've come to expect. Things are slipping here.

"impossible to locate the flight gate you need to be at"

(United States)

Verified Review | Changed planes with connecting time ranging from 75 minutes to 120 minutes. All flights arrived and departed at an aerobridge thus sparing us from having to travel on the buses to the terminal. The terminal itself is cavernous but it is dark and gloomy. The security check area where all transit passengers go through looks like place being mobbed with thousands of anxious travelers putting their luggage through the screen machine, removing belts, watches, phones, and cameras and walking through the detector. On the other side, a huge display board listing all the flights - it is next to impossible to locate the flight gate you need to be at, given the number of entries on the screen. The airport needs to come up with a better display system to inform customers of connecting flights. At the gate for the flight to New York, there was another security check. All in all, it leaves one frazzled and anxious. I spent a shot while in the Business Class lounge - a huge area with lots of seating areas but there was a line to use the showers and I did not have enough time on hand to wait.

"a must see airport"

(Qatar)

Verified Review | Doha Hamad is big - really big - and stunning. The food court is a bit crammed which is odd given the size of the place. Otherwise it's calm, well organised, and the train is finally running too. This is a must see airport but beware of the long walks.

"airport gets better each time"

(United Kingdom)

Great airport in every way, as I only had 55 minutes between flights I'd booked the Al Maha transit service but I needn't have bothered as my flight arrived early. Young lady was waiting as I left the aircraft, walked me to the business lounge as I had time and advised a colleague would come and get me when the flight was boarding. On my return flight I didn't bother to book the transit service again we arrived early with plenty of time before next flight. Not my first time with Qatar, airport gets better each time although I still miss the old premium terminal.

"plenty of places to sit"

(Australia)

Great new airport with plenty of places to sit and lounges, but my biggest irk are smoking rooms - is it too much to ask that the smoking rooms be at least double doored or provide a better barrier. First thing I smelt when I got off my plane was cigarette smoke. A much bigger food court would be fantastic as well, very limited selection for those in a quick transit or do not want a restaurant.

"poor and uncompetitive service"

(Australia)

Verified Review | First time using and not impressed. I am AAdvantage Exec Plat normally entitled to OneWorld 1st lounges. Went to 1st Lounge and was denied entry. Sent to second Biz Class lounge. Poor signage so difficult to locate. There told this was inferior to yet a 3rd lounge for J only pax. Again bad signage, but 3rd time lucky. Wanted a shower and took 1 hour to get one. They don't provide a beeper or similar, so had to hang around the bathroom entrance. Inbound leg Arrived 13:00, Departing 20:40. Decided to avail the free tour of Doha service. Met at desk at 3pm with 20 others. Were escorted to Immigration. 4 of us were J class, so got immediate exit. Others were Y and had to go through standard Immigration. Shortish queue took 80 minutes. Seemed to be only 4 agents, and about another dozen empty counters. Finally got an abridged tour. Back at lounge as I write this.
