"chaotic bus boarding"

Trip Verified | An offensive lady at security check. Irrespective and loudly shouting in German she had enough of it all. To top it chaotic bus boarding at the B-Gates, a mess. On the positive note: at Frankfurt they have -some- hand luggage screening devices where you don’t need to take out liquids and computers. Some progress here.

"I would avoid if I could"

Trip Verified | Frankfurt’s airport post Covid is a nightmare that I would avoid if I could. Unfortunately, as a business traveler, I do not have a lot of choice being based in the area, but I do try my best to avoid it even if it means taking a train for hours. There are three aspects of Fraport that are just unacceptable. The first one is the security, which on busy days can take up to 2 hours. There is no consideration for elderly people, babies or young children. How is a child supposed to behave for 2 hours standing in a line? The second aspect is the luggage delivery, which takes a minimum of one hour. Your actual flight can and is often shorter than the wait for luggage. The third aspect are the passport agents for non EU citizens. Often times, there is only 1 agent, and since they deal with people that have visas, they can take up to 5 minutes per person. That leads to unnecessary delays that can be avoided with a bit of organization. The overall feeling is that Fraport is where incompetence meets carelessness.

"What a nightmare"

Trip Verified | What a nightmare. One of the worst airport I have ever been to. Signs are confusing. I’ve been traveling airports all over the world, never have I been treated as unfriendly as here. Staff are very unfriendly and rude. Not many options to eat. In the future, I would avoid transiting in this airport.

"Very confusing layout"

Not Verified | Very confusing layout, absolutely not optimized way finding. Police and security check very rude. I remember this airport as very efficient and fast for transits, but this was 20+ years ago. Maybe the Covid has created issues for the staff but this is not a good reason for the lack of signage. By the way the short connection left us without luggage at final destination

"worst airport experience"

Trip Verified | One of the worse airports in Europe. I flew in with Lufthansa from ZRH in terminal 1, de-boarding was ok and everything looks ok. There are plenty of shops in terminal 1 airside to keep passengers entertained, that's the only good thing about the airport. I have to wait 40 minutes at the luggage carousel for my luggage. The waiting time for the bag was actually longer than the time I was on the air. I depart FRA at terminal 2 with Cathay Pacific as a business class PAX. I arrived about 2 hr and 10 min early. I went into the airside once I dropped my bag and used the toilet. Disappointingly, there is no express immigration queue for business class passengers. And there are only 2 immigration officers doing the passport check at around 11 in the morning. I queue for over 45 minutes for immigration, which was boring. Once I passed the immigration, I spent like 5 minutes in duty-free shops (just not many shops available in T2) and I proceed to the boarding gate. When I go through the security check, the customer service staff (which was supposed to service the customer) was very very rude, I didn't expect this level of service in one of the biggest airports in the world. Furthermore, when I proceed with the security check, there are nowhere for me to dump my bottle. Which I have to walk to the toilet just to clear the bottle and start over again. It's just a poor airport design, it's extremely inconvenient for passengers. When I passed the security, there are 2 checks for the boarding pass and viola, it was boarding time already. It's kind of nice because it means I can leave this awful airport asap. This is one of the worst airport experiences in my life, hence my first airport review. I have been to many big airports in the world. among HEL, BCN LHR ZRH FCO MXP. and I would like to say, even the old Berlin TXL airport gave me a better travel experience than FRA. I strongly recommend anyone flying out of FRA arrives at least 3 hours early due to the staff shortage. And do not hope the customer service staff to give you any nice help whatsoever. The differences in the terminal are huge and that has to be reviewed. One side note, during the departure, the ATC actually assigned 8 smaller aircraft to depart before our heavy a350 (I guess for wake turbulence and to minimize the waiting time.) But I literally stayed on the runway threshold for 20 min and wait for our departure, which caused a slight delay in our flight. The airport should look into the runway usage and departure time and see how to optimize the flight schedule.

"Bags are not handled properly"

Trip Verified | Most staff are unfriendly and tell you 'I dont know', 'maybe there' when you ask a question. Bags are not handled properly. Our bag was broken when we got it from the bag carousel. I will try to avoid this airport as much as I can.

"Absolute disaster"

Not Verified | Absolute disaster. I had just flown into Frankfurt from London Heathrow as it was my transit airport to go onto Shanghai. I had a 9 hour layover where I was met with rude staff, closed shops and poor organization. I had a short transfer time here a few weeks before and there were 3 messy queues going into the passport control, I almost missed my flight. However, this time I did miss my flight to Shanghai. My Covid test (that was valid) was apparently not valid according to the airport staff who told me I had to run across the airport to get a new Covid test, pay €200 for it, wait 30 minutes to get a printed copy and run back to the gate hoping to catch my flight. I ran as fast as I could but the plane had already started leaving. The staff on the gate were very nice though and apologetic even though it wasn’t their fault. But once going back to departures to rebook a flight there was no remorse about mine (and 4 other passengers’) problem. Won’t be visiting this airport again.

"Very nice airport"

Not Verified | Very nice airport; we used one café where they were very diligent regarding Covid safety, which was pleasing as we were heading for our daughters wedding. Our only criticism was when we were boarding our flight for Manchester we were required to show every document again (this was our third flight, our second with Lufthansa) and we had been traveling for 30 hours. No announcement was given in the boarding lounge, where we had been sat for over an hour, and when we boarded we were taken to one side and rudely made to find all the necessary documents (most of which were on my laptop).

"Dirty in general"
