"never use this airport again"

(Netherlands)

Trip Verified | What a dramatic airport. Way too big and services are so bad. It was the first day of Christmas and very quiet at the moment. Despite of that we had to wait over one and a half hour before luggage band started. Why? We will never use this airport again.

"incredibly poorly laid out"

(United Kingdom)

Not Verified | Found it incredibly poorly laid out. Driven around by an overcrowded bus for 15 minutes then have to walk up and down narrow staircases with long queues to then board yet another bus to reach onward travel gate. Staff are not friendly or helpful. Asked for directions to a lounge at the “information desk” and the man sent me in exactly the opposite direction to correct. Signposts are not good enough to be honest.

"insufficient staff and bad signs"

(Croatia)

Not Verified | Worst airport ever! I've traveled with my 7 month old baby and the worst things were insufficient staff and bad signs. There was almost no staff to ask anything, the ones I've met didn't speak English. Signs are so confusing and you lose them quickly. It's hard to come from arrivals to baggage claim, there is a lack of information and you get lost in a second. In my case there wasn't any other option to arrive to, but if I could chose, I'd never go on this airport again.

"Without doubt the worst airport"

(United Kingdom)

Not Verified | We arrived at the airport at 8:30 am for a scheduled flight to Manchester at 10:55 am. On finally working out which check in desk we required we joined what appeared to be collection of several queues which had little or no organisation. In the airports I have used previously there are bollards with elasticated barriers between them forming a path for the passengers to follow before checking in. The barriers at Frankfurt were only about three rows deep which resulted in people queue jumping and heated exchanges. The were no security officers to sort out any altercations. After check in we went to an area where we were to scan our boarding passes. On arriving at the scanner we were told British passport holders had to join a different line which was about 150 metres long. After about an hour we were near the front of the queue but the scanners were permanently on red and couldn’t be used. Someone just behind us highlighted this to a staff member who then took us to the scanners we had originally tried to use before being ushered to a different line. Our flight take off time was fast approaching. Once through the boarding pass scan check we then had the pleasure of another queue to have our passports checked. Once thought this latest hoop we came to security. It appears Frankfurt has a security check for each individual gate. A first in my experience. Once again tempers were fraying as people arriving in the area were joining the front of the queue rather than the back. Again no airport staff seemed interested in sorting anything out. Next came the actual security check. Not only do they scan your belongings and yourself but they also do a physical check of each passenger. Again another first in my travel experience. By now our scheduled flight time had come and gone. We eventually set off an hour late. Without doubt the worst airport I have ever had the misfortune to depart from. If you like delays, apathetic staff and queues Frankfurt airport is the place to be. If not, avoid like the plague. I can’t rate the food, shopping or seating as I never had a chance to use any of them.

"What a disgrace of an airport"

(United Kingdom)

Not Verified | What a disgrace of an airport. Arrived from Manchester on 7 December to be met with the longest queue for security I have ever seen anywhere, and just one booth open. Just as we got near the front over an hour later they opened another one, too little too late. Arrived back at Frankfurt this morning for our plane back to Manchester and it was even worse. Waited so long in the queue for security bag check, which incidentally is after the few shops and eating options (which makes no sense), that our whole flight was delayed by nearly an hour and we had gone straight through the airport as we had been told it was busy. No time for food, drink or toilet break. Again only one conveyor belt open, it was an absolute joke. I will never complain about Manchester airport again. So much for German efficiency.

"the worst airport in Europe"

(Switzerland)

Trip Verified | Certainly the worst airport in Europe. I was there in November 23 for a transit. The list of malfunctions is so long I don’t know where to start: 1. Arrival of my plane: no bus waiting on the tarmac to pick up the passengers. It results in 20 mins delay 2. My original flight operated from Lufthansa was 3 hours late. I went to the service desk inside the terminal which was closed. Display sign show a QR code to be used for assistance. It redirects you to a stupid AI chat which is without surprise useless. The second service desk was the floor below with an expected waiting time of 1.5 hours to get assistance 3. Waiting code my connecting flight which was also delayed by 1.5 hours we had to change 3 times gates. 4. Security checks with corporal scanner which should ease and speed up the security check process. Here not only it slows it down but also there is 5 persons after the scanner to recheck everybody. The announcement made by the plane pilot and the gate attendees show their own level of exasperation Pilot: « we are sorry for the bus but this is just to usual in this airport. We escalated to the supervisor but this is the only thing we can do. If you miss your connexion you will be rebooked don’t worry » Gate attendee: « we are so sorry and hope this is the last door change but in this airport you are never sure of anything » If you add to it that the airport is huge and that the gate change force you to run from one side to another is stressful and exhausting. In summary avoid this airport as much as you can to avoid necessary stress and tiredness.

"the all-too-familiar delays"

(Austria)

Not Verified | Once again, I find myself amid the all-too-familiar delays at Frankfurt Airport. With a staggering 50% of flights not adhering to their schedules, it begs the question: Is revenue prioritization overshadowing passenger experience? Efficiency and customer satisfaction should be the cornerstone of any world-class airport, not an afterthought. The ripple effect of these delays transcends individual inconvenience, impacting the intricate web of global connectivity. I strongly advocate for a shift in focus at Frankfurt Airport. The goal should be seamless travel, not just financial gain. Management must recognize that passenger-centric operations are key to sustainable success. To the leaders at Frankfurt, let's align our efforts towards enhancing the travel experience. It's high time for a transformation that puts people first, ensuring that punctuality and service excellence become synonymous with Frankfurt Airport.

"one of the most inefficient and frustrating airports"

(United States)

Not Verified | This is one of the most inefficient and frustrating airports. Having to shuttle between terminals and from the plane is highly inconvenient. Plan on an extra 1.5 hours between flights. But for a direct from Denver I would avoid it if given any choice.

Trip Verified | Avoid FRA if you are not a fan of long walks or riding buses. Long walks or riding in the bus is what you may expect to experience in FRA. They have moving walkways but nearly never all of them work.

"worst and miserable airport in Europe"

(United States)

Trip Verified | Frankfurt is arguably one of the absolute worst and miserable airport in Europe. It feels outdated, lacks cleanliness, and the Lufthansa business lounges are so depressing and crowded, it’s more pleasant to find a place at gates that are not being used. The signage can be puzzling, and security queues can be extensive with less-than-courteous agents. Many gates require passengers to board a bus to reach the plane, adding inconvenience. While many criticize Brandenburg Airport, in my opinion, it doesn't quite compare to the horrors of Frankfurt. For peace of mind and mental/emotional health, consider alternatives!!
